Konoha: Starting the Game as Yoriichi

Chapter 94: Chapter 94

Shizune came running over. She whispered a few words in Kusuo's ear. Her face was filled with a trace of panic, and she looked very anxious.

Then, Jiraiya watched with a completely baffled expression as she glared at him and drove him and the others back. No matter how he asked, she refused to reveal a single thing, acting as if she wouldn't rest until she had chased them away.

Helpless, he had no choice but to take Naruto and Hinata back to the small house where Tsunade was staying first.

They waited for a whole afternoon. It wasn't until evening that Tsunade and Shizune finally returned,姗姗 (shān shān) - unhurriedly. Behind them was Kusuo, walking with his sword in his arms.

"I say, what were you guys up to? Dawdling for so long before coming back," Jiraiya said, completely bewildered. As an experienced lsp (old pervert), he could see that the look on Tsunade's face was a bit... off. It was as if... there were signs of a young girl in love.

No... that's impossible, right?

Jiraiya sized her up and down. Being stared at so intently by Jiraiya, Tsunade, who already had a guilty conscience, immediately became angry out of shame. "What are you looking at? Look again and I'll dig your eyes out!" Tsunade's hair stood on end, and she threatened him by waving her fist. But in Jiraiya's eyes, this was clearly just bluffing.

"Ahem." Kusuo, walking behind them, cleared his throat twice. His voice immediately made both Tsunade and Shizune tremble, their bodies tensing up.

Kusuo interrupted the conversation between the two old friends. As if nothing was wrong, he walked past Tsunade. The moment he brushed past her, one could clearly see Tsunade flinch.

Kusuo pulled Hinata over with one hand, using the excuse of being tired to prepare to go back to his room. As he wrapped his arm around Hinata's waist, his eyes nonchalantly swept over the girl's chest. Why is the difference so big? It shouldn't be! The glorious sight from that afternoon still lingered in his mind. Majestic. Breathtaking.

On second thought, Hinata was, after all, still growing.

...

That night, no one had dinner. The original plan to go to the bathhouse was rejected by Tsunade, who holed up in her room and refused to come out. Jiraiya was completely baffled and had no choice but to take the blockheaded Naruto out to find food first.

Fortunately, the next day, Tsunade and Shizune were back to their normal selves.

"A bet is a bet. I underestimated you before," Tsunade said, taking a deep breath and formally agreeing to Kusuo and the others' request.

She was going back to the village.

Of course, the subtext was self-evident: I, Tsunade, am willing to return and assume the position of the Fifth Hokage.

"Alright! That's great! Granny Tsunade, you're the best!" Naruto was a man of true feelings. He immediately started cheering on the spot.

Tsunade looked at Naruto, as if seeing her former little brother, her eyes filled with reminiscence. She said softly, "Don't thank me. If you really want to thank someone, then thank that stinking brat." When she said "stinking brat," Tsunade gritted her teeth so hard it seemed she wanted to bite someone.

Jiraiya patted his head, only able to think that Tsunade must still hold a grudge from being electrocuted so badly yesterday. That's not right. Little Tsuna isn't such a petty person. She was the one who said a bet is a bet. How could she hold a grudge against Kusuo just because of a duel?

If he had been defeated by a junior, he would certainly only feel admiration and happiness, not dissatisfaction. This little Tsuna... her temper is really getting harder and harder to figure out... A woman's heart is a needle at the bottom of the sea.

Jiraiya shook his head, his mind full of question marks, and decided not to think about it anymore.

The group finally embarked on their journey back to the village.

In the Land of Fire, Konoha, which had experienced a long period of turmoil, finally welcomed a piece of good news today. That was... the eldest granddaughter of the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju, one of the legendary Sannin and a direct disciple of Lord Third Hokage... Princess Tsunade had returned.

And news had already spread that Princess Tsunade had agreed to take on the position of the village's Hokage. Now, not counting the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, the lineage of Konoha's Hokage had passed to Tsunade, who would be inaugurated as the Fifth.

The entire village celebrated. All the villagers and commoners flocked to the streets, lining them to welcome her. Having not seen her for so many years, they all wanted to see the style of this future Lord Hokage.

Tsunade and Jiraiya walked at the forefront, receiving the enthusiastic gazes of the crowd. Behind them was a grinning Naruto. Kusuo walked at the very end, holding Hinata's hand.

"Is that Princess Tsunade? She's so beautiful!"

"Hmph! How shallow. Princess Tsunade is one of the legendary Sannin! She's a powerful ninja who is going to be our Hokage. How can you just use 'beautiful' to describe her?"

"I'm just asking you, is she beautiful or not?"

"...Beautiful."

"So young! How on earth does Lady Tsunade maintain her appearance? She looks like she's about the same age as a twenty-year-old girl!"

"I've decided! From now on, I'm Lady Tsunade's loyal fan!"

"What a great figure! I..."

Just as a villager said this, he immediately felt the cold gaze of an ANBU member from above shoot towards him. Instantly, he fell silent, unable to say the rest of his words.

They walked all the way to the public square of Konoha, in front of the Hokage Tower. Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado were already waiting there. Tsunade took the Kage hat and the Hokage's official robes from their hands.

Under the watchful eyes of all, she was inaugurated into the position of the Fifth Hokage.

Seeing this, Kakashi and the other jonin finally breathed a sigh of relief. With Lady Tsunade's return, the village finally had a backbone. They no longer had to worry about the prying eyes of external enemy forces.

"Lord Jiraiya and Princess Tsunade's relationship is really good! For Princess Tsunade, who hasn't been back to the village for so many years, to actually agree to the request to become Hokage," Kurenai said, looking at the two Sannin on the stage, her heart filled with envy. She also wished she had such a confidant, a relationship that remained unchanged for decades.

"Hehe." Asuma suddenly chuckled twice, interrupting Kurenai's infinite reverie.

"What are you laughing at?" Kurenai was a little annoyed. She felt that Asuma's smile was as if he were laughing at her.

"There's something you don't know. Our new Lady Hokage... she didn't come back because of Lord Jiraiya."

"But rather—" He stopped abruptly here, making Kurenai extremely anxious.

"Rather what? Hurry up and say it!"

"It was my cousin's contribution," Kakashi, who had been looking down at his book, said coolly, completely choking the smug Asuma who had been about to sell the suspense.

"Hatake Kusuo? It's that boy again?" Kurenai blinked her beautiful eyes, somewhat puzzled as to what the relationship was between the two.

Kakashi seemed tired. Seeing that the inauguration ceremony on the stage was about to end, he put away his Icha Icha Paradise and put his hands in his pockets to go back. On his way back, his words drifted over.

"My cousin made a bet with Lady Tsunade. The stake was her returning to the village to serve as Hokage."

The person had already left. All that remained was an even more confused Kurenai. What kind of bet could make Lady Tsunade overcome her psychological fear and return to the village again? And... most importantly... how is it that guy Hatake Kusuo again?!

...

The next day, a piece of news gradually spread throughout Konoha. That was, the current Fifth Hokage, Princess Tsunade, had actually had a duel with Hatake Kusuo and lost.

This matter caused a huge uproar throughout the entire village. The great Lord Hokage had actually lost in a battle to a twelve or thirteen-year-old boy.

While everyone was greatly shocked, they then thought back on this hero of Konoha's previous battle record. He had cut down the Tailed Beast Shukaku, defeated Orochimaru, and protected the village. Finally, with one man and one sword, he had slaughtered his way through one of Konoha's two great organizations, the Root. For such a ruthless person with such a brilliant battle record... it didn't seem so hard to understand that he could defeat Lord Hokage.

The villagers' hearts were simple. They just felt that Hatake Kusuo was a monster. And a monster, naturally, could not be judged by common sense. It was understandable that Lord Hokage had lost to him.

Most importantly, he was our hero of Konoha! The guardian of Konoha!

With two of the Sannin, plus another ruthless person with even greater combat power in the village, everyone felt an unprecedented sense of security.

Kusuo stood on the corridor of his own doorway. A light rain was falling outside. He held his sword, silent.

Suddenly, a commotion came from the house next door, as well as the voice of his cousin, Kakashi.

"You've heard all the rumors in the village?"

Kusuo gave a faint "mm."

After a long time, Kakashi's voice came again. "Lady Tsunade is building up your prestige. She wants to tie your heart to Konoha."

Indeed. Kusuo had already guessed that the news had been released by Tsunade and Jiraiya themselves. Otherwise, it couldn't have been anyone else. Hinata was by his side, and as for that reckless Naruto, no one would believe his nonsense. Those two... they had really gone to great lengths.

Unfortunately, he didn't care about Konoha. All he cared about were the people close to him.

"I can feel that your capacity is far too great to be bound by this village." Over there, his cousin Kakashi's voice came again.

But there was no answer. Kusuo had long since gone back inside with his sword to tease Hinata. Now, with the addition of Hanabi, his actions were even bolder. Hanabi even dared to do some out-of-line things to her brother-in-law right in front of her sister.

Only Kakashi was left standing in his courtyard, feeling the rain fall from the sky. The more outstanding his cousin became, the more lost he felt in his heart. Caressing the real throb coming from his right eye, that Sharingan was still continuously consuming his chakra.

For the first time, Kakashi felt lost about his own path.

...

"Lord Orochimaru! We have already brought Sasuke here. Why do we still need to risk infiltrating Konoha?"

In a gloomy forest, Orochimaru was leading his most loyal subordinates, flying through the trees. Kabuto's glasses glinted. He didn't understand why Lord Orochimaru insisted on infiltrating Konoha again. It should be known that the village now had Tsunade, the Fifth Hokage, in charge, and order had been restored. What's more, there was his existence. In his mind, the terrifying scene of Kusuo cutting down a Tailed Beast with one slash replayed, making him shiver.

"Hoh hoh... of course it's to see my old friend. Since little Tsuna has become Hokage, I will naturally send her a gift," Orochimaru's tone was as sinister as ever, but it carried a good deal of weakness.

His master's words didn't give Kabuto much information. Pushing up his glasses, he could only remind the person behind him, "Kimimaro, walk faster. Don't fall behind!"
