Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Might Guy's Confirmation! Sixth Gate! Shock!
"I give up, you win!"
Rock Lee immediately raised the white flag.
The moment he saw Morkel activate the Fifth Gate, he knew he had no chance of winning. Though he could also open the Fifth Gate, the toll it would take on his body was too great. He had planned to save that trump card for a critical moment, such as the Chūnin Exams.
Morkel, on the other hand, had no reservations about revealing his strength. Unlike Rock Lee, who specialized in taijutsu, Morkel had many other skills hidden up his sleeve.
"Is that all? That thick-browed guy didn't seem that strong," Naruto said, pouting.
"Actually, he's much better than both of us," Sasuke replied with a sigh, giving Naruto a helpless look.
He really didn't understand where Naruto got the confidence to judge others.
During Rock Lee and Morkel's fight, Sasuke had been observing carefully with his Sharingan. After analyzing their movements, he came to a realization—
Even though his Sharingan could predict Rock Lee's attacks, his body wouldn't be able to keep up. If he fought Morkel, the outcome was clear. He would lose. In fact, he might not even be able to beat Rock Lee.
"And did you notice the calluses on his fingers?" Sasuke emphasized.
"Calluses?" Naruto looked confused, staring at Rock Lee's hands for a while but failing to see what Sasuke was talking about.
"But he's wearing bandages on his hands," Naruto pointed out.
Sasuke shook his head. "On the few fingers that were exposed, you can see the calluses and scars. Even if he tried to hide them, the signs of his hard work are obvious."
"This guy must have been practicing taijutsu tirelessly, day and night. In terms of both strength and dedication, he surpasses us."
Sasuke clenched his fists, feeling the weight of Rock Lee's effort.
"If that's the case, then this Chūnin Exam is going to be tough," Naruto muttered with a bitter expression.
"It should be difficult. That's what makes it worth fighting for," Sasuke replied with a confident smirk.
Just then, a familiar figure appeared nearby—a green jumpsuit, a bowl-cut hairstyle, and an unmistakable presence. It was Might Guy!
Pointing dramatically at Rock Lee, he shouted, "Lee! Are you bullying your juniors again?!"
Rock Lee turned and, upon recognizing his teacher, tears welled up in his eyes. "Teacher Guy! I wasn't bullying him. In fact, he's much stronger than me."
Might Guy tilted his head and looked at Morkel, struggling for a moment to recall his face. Then, recognition flashed across his expression.
"Oh! It's you, young man! We meet again! It seems fate has brought us together once more!" Guy exclaimed enthusiastically, flashing a thumbs-up. "You really didn't disappoint me. Have you already reached the Sixth Gate?!"
Rock Lee's eyes widened in shock.
What?!
The red-haired boy had already mastered the Sixth Gate?!
He had no reason to doubt Might Guy's words. He turned toward Morkel in astonishment.
How old is this guy?
He just graduated from the Ninja Academy! How could he have trained to this level so quickly?
Even if I started training in my mother's womb, I wouldn't be able to catch up with this speed!
Guy then turned to Rock Lee, his eyes filled with disappointment. "Lee! Your reckless behavior of challenging others truly saddens me!"
Rock Lee straightened up immediately. "Teacher Guy! I accept any punishment you see fit!"
Guy nodded firmly. "Good! Then let's run around the Ninja Academy's playground a hundred times! Let everyone witness the flames of our youth!"
Rock Lee saluted. "Yes, Teacher Guy!"
With that, he took off running toward the playground.
Might Guy followed closely behind, but before disappearing, he glanced at Morkel and the others. "You three are from Kakashi's team, right?"
"Yes," Morkel replied.
"Your teacher is my eternal rival. Be sure to give him my regards!" Guy declared before vanishing.
Naruto scratched his head. "What a bunch of weirdos."
"Let's go," Neji said to Tenten, a small smirk on his face. "This Chūnin Exam is shaping up to be interesting."
Tenten nodded but couldn't help glancing back at Morkel. "He made Teacher Guy react like that... His strength surpasses Rock Lee's. Between him and you... who do you think is stronger?"
Neji didn't answer directly but said, "If I had to fight Lee, I wouldn't win as easily as he did."
Tenten's eyes widened. "So… you think…?"
Neji simply walked forward. "Let's go. We graduated from the Academy a year before them. We can't let these younger guys surpass us."
As Might Guy's team left, Sasuke, Morkel, and Naruto also returned home to continue their training.
The Chūnin Exam Begins
Soon, the day of the Chūnin Exam arrived.
The first challenge? A written test.
In the exam hall, Morino Ibiki stood at the podium. His face, covered in scars, was intimidating. His sharp eyes scanned the room, radiating a suffocating pressure.
"The test is simple," Ibiki began. "There are ten questions, each worth one point."
"Cheating is strictly prohibited. There are elite Chūnin monitoring this exam."
"If caught cheating, two points will be deducted per attempt. Once a candidate loses all their points, they will be removed from the exam."
Morkel immediately spotted a flaw in Ibiki's words.
"No low-level cheating is allowed?"
Did that mean cheating was acceptable as long as it wasn't obvious?
Even so, Morkel didn't plan to cheat. It was just a written test—no big deal.
Then, Ibiki dropped another bombshell. "One more thing. This exam is taken in teams of three. If even one member of your group scores zero, the whole team fails."
Danger!
If Naruto failed, their entire team would be disqualified!
Morkel and Sasuke exchanged nervous glances, coming to the same conclusion.
We need to help Naruto cheat.
Naruto, however, remained oblivious, glancing curiously at the other candidates.
Just then, Hinata, sitting beside him, whispered, "Naruto-kun~"
Naruto blinked. "Hinata? Why are you sitting next to me?"
Hinata blushed. "The seating was assigned randomly..."
Morkel, watching from behind, sighed in relief.
Hinata had a crush on Naruto, and her academic skills were excellent. If she helped him, things might turn out fine.
Meanwhile, Sasuke also relaxed slightly.
Naruto is a fool with good luck.
Ibiki clapped his hands. "The exam begins now! You have 60 minutes. The final question will be revealed in the last 15 minutes."
The test papers were distributed. Morkel took one glance and froze.
These questions…
They're too easy!
He immediately began writing at full speed.
Sakura, sitting nearby, saw Morkel writing confidently and assumed the test was easy. But as she read the first question, she broke into a cold sweat.
These were ridiculously hard!
Many examinees struggled, while Morkel continued writing non-stop.
Sasuke, after some hesitation, activated his Sharingan and copied Morkel's answers.
But halfway through, he was shocked.
How is Morkel writing so fast?!
Does he even need to read the questions?!
Even Morino Ibiki, observing from the podium, narrowed his eyes at Morkel's speed.
Who is this kid…?
