Chapter 111: Raven VS Gaara
The tension in the arena was thick as the final match of the preliminaries was announced.
"Raven Kamizuki vs. Gaara of the Sand."
The audience, still reeling from the previous matches, turned their attention to the battlefield, murmuring with anticipation.
On the balcony, Naruto pumped his fists into the air. "Alright, Raven! Beat him up real good!"
Sasuke watched in silence, his Sharingan flickering to life as he analyzed the situation. Meanwhile, Kankuro and Temari exchanged nervous glances, knowing just how dangerous their brother could be when he let loose.
Gaara stood motionless, his gaze locked onto Raven as his sand curled protectively around him. His face was unreadable, but his intent to kill was clear.
Across from him, Raven yawned, stretching her arms behind her head. "Oh? Are we fighting already? I thought you were gonna warm up first."
Gaara didn't respond. He simply raised a hand—his sand surged forward like a tidal wave, aiming to crush her instantly.
Raven didn't move.
The moment the sand came close—she vanished.
The entire stadium gasped.
A split second later, Raven reappeared on the opposite side of the battlefield, hands still tucked lazily into her pockets. "Huh. That was kinda slow."
Gaara's eyes narrowed. His sand shot toward her again, faster this time, curving from multiple angles, creating an inescapable trap.
Raven smirked. "That's better."
She casually stepped between the streams of sand, her body moving effortlessly through the gaps. The crowd watched in disbelief—she wasn't dodging with effort; she was weaving through it like a game.
Kankuro tensed. "Why… isn't she getting hit?"
Temari's brow furrowed. "She's faster than his sand…"
Gaara's expression remained neutral, but the subtle twitch in his fingers revealed his growing frustration.
He shifted tactics. His sand rose into the air, forming a massive spear, hardened and compressed with enough force to impale solid steel.
The spear shot forward—straight for Raven's chest.
Raven simply tilted her head.
Before the attack could land, she exhaled softly.
Lava Pizza Sauce Jutsu.
A wave of molten, cheese-laced lava erupted from her fingertips, striking the sand spear mid-air.
The instant the two elements met, the sand began melting, bubbling like overcooked dough.
Gaara's eyes widened.
"What—?"
His sand collapsed into a gooey, cheese-covered mess.
The audience exploded into gasps and murmurs.
Naruto pointed dramatically. "DID SHE JUST MELT HIS SAND?!"
Hinata covered her mouth. "What… kind of jutsu is that?"
From the stands, a small group of unknown pizza fanatics erupted into cheers.
"Praise be the Pizza Sauce! The Sage of Six Slices is here!"
Raven dusted off her hands. "Oh no! My poor sand!" she mocked, grinning at Gaara. "Gonna need something a little stronger, buddy."
Gaara stiffened. This… this had never happened before. No one had ever destroyed his sand.
His fingers clenched, his anger beginning to bubble.
The sand at his feet rippled violently.
Raven watched him carefully, then sighed. "Uh-oh. I broke him."
Gaara lifted both hands this time. His sand swirled unnaturally, forming a dense sphere around his body—his Ultimate Sand Shield.
From the balcony, Kankuro turned pale. "That's… Gaara's absolute defense. He's done playing."
Raven smirked. "Finally getting serious? Guess I should too."
Gaara extended his arms. His sand erupted, aiming to crush Raven completely.
Raven yawned.
She vanished.
The sand slammed into the ground where she had been standing, creating a crater—but Raven was already behind him.
Gaara's head snapped toward her, but before he could react—Raven's fist connected with his chest.
The force sent him skidding backward, his sand armor cracking.
The audience fell into stunned silence.
Kiba's jaw dropped. "She… just physically hit him."
Sasuke narrowed his eyes. "She broke his defense."
Gaara staggered slightly, gripping his chest. Pain. A foreign, unfamiliar sensation.
He looked down—his sand armor had cracked around the impact point. He was actually injured.
His breath quickened. His hands trembled. His rage flared.
Shukaku's voice whispered in the back of his mind.
Kill. Destroy. Devour.
Gaara's pupils contracted. His breathing became erratic.
Temari took a step forward, her face pale. "Gaara… stop."
But he wasn't listening.
His sand began spiraling uncontrollably, forming monstrous limbs, his body twitching unnaturally.
The proctor took a hesitant step forward. "If this continues, I'll have to—"
Raven raised a hand, cutting him off.
She tilted her head, watching Gaara unravel with mild interest. "Oh dear. Looks like someone needs a time-out."
Gaara let out a guttural snarl, his transformation accelerating.
The crowd backed away instinctively.
Raven grinned.
"Guess I'll have to break you properly."
The fight was far from over.
