Legend of the Planet Builder

Chapter 18: Chapter 18 Our Whistleblower

"After a month of verification on our part," one of the meeting's hosts, Song Jinhong, announced, "the research team members have unanimously determined that the Zerg genes and the biological threat theory proposed by Beijing University of Science and Technology student He Xingzhou are essentially valid!"

"According to the evolutionary model of Zerg organisms, it is predicted that in ten years, the Zerg population will reach several million; in twenty years, it will expand to tens of billions! In thirty to fifty years, Zerg organisms will dominate the entire Blue Planet ecosystem!"

As he read this aloud, everyone listened intently,

"Currently, we have only conducted the most basic research on Zerg organisms, and the fundamental conclusion is that Zerg are highly intelligent creatures. For instance, the mutated species Black Sea Bream No.2 has been confirmed to understand human language and possess the intelligence of a human child, continuing to evolve."

"Their biological composition is entirely different from that of Blue Planet organisms. They have biological weapon organs, and conventional firearms have limited lethality against them. According to evolutionary models, it's highly possible that advanced Zerg capable of countering large human thermal weapons will appear..."

When Song Jinhong finished reading the preliminary research results, all the top officials were unable to remain calm.

"So what you're saying is, this so-called Zerg will compete with humans for control of the Blue Planet's ecosystem?" a military commander asked.

"Yes." Song Jinhong nodded, "We have detected similar Zerg genes in a large number of marine organisms, but these Zerg genes are still in a dormant phase. Once they develop to a certain extent, they will begin to mutate. Radiation and nuclear wastewater can accelerate their mutation."

Director Cui Weimin of the Security Bureau said, "Right now, several countries around the world are secretly discharging nuclear wastewater into the oceans, which I'm afraid will encourage their mutation!"

"Exactly!" Song Jinhong emphasized, "Especially with Japan right next to us, in the next twenty years, it could become a major disaster area!"

"Our nation of Huaxia and even all of humanity are facing the greatest crisis in history!"

"Since you've already preliminarily verified the correctness of this situation, does the Academy of Sciences have any countermeasures to nip this crisis in the bud?"

Song Jinhong said, "Leader, our current understanding of the Zerg is still very limited. We can only affirm the existence of these special organisms and their enormous threat to humanity."

"But as for how to kill them or how to suppress and control them, we're still researching these solutions!"

Director Cui Weimin suggested, "Comrades, I propose we immediately elevate this matter to Huaxia's highest security crisis level and organize the nation's resources for preparation and defense. We can't wait until decades later, when Zerg organisms overrun the entire planet, endangering public safety!"

The Military Department leader nodded, "I agree, from now on, we must be born in adversity, die in comfort! We must begin preparing now!"

"The emergence of Zerg organisms is a wake-up call for us! We must respond with two hundred percent seriousness!"

"I hereby announce the immediate formation of a special Zerg Disaster Response Task Force!"

"This task force will be led by Kong Qing, Qin Peng, and Cui Weimin, and is designated as the highest-level action group, with the authority to mobilize military, scientific research, and state enterprise resources to respond to the Zerg disaster."

The trio consists of distinguished figures from the Academy of Sciences: Kong Qing, an Academician of the Academy, who is already eighty years old and has significant scientific achievements; Cui Weimin, a key leader of the Security Bureau; and Qin Peng, a military leader capable of mobilizing military forces!

"This is not just a task; it is a responsibility! Comrades, you must complete this mission!"

"Thank you for the organization's trust; we will definitely accomplish the mission!" The three stood and saluted.

They felt the gravity of the task weighing on their shoulders, as it was a national burden, and failure was not an option!

...

The same day, the Zerg Disaster Response Task Force immediately began preparations and formation.

During the meeting, Qin Peng was the first to speak, "Two comrades, as the saying in military strategy goes, 'Know thyself, know thy enemy, a hundred battles, a hundred victories.' I still don't fully understand the Zerg, and I hope to obtain more information."

"I'll take charge of the military forces in organizational management; for other aspects, I hope you two can give it some thought!"

"What the chief said is true," Cui Weimin said. "This task is daunting, and we naturally have to coordinate fully. I think we should listen to the recommendations of professionals. The Academy of Sciences should ideally provide us with some plans and suggestions."

Kong Qing nodded and said, "I will immediately organize a meeting at the Academy of Sciences and try to come up with several effective plans to implement in the shortest time possible!"

"By the way, Director Cui, there's someone you must invite! He is our whistleblower!" Kong Qing reminded.

"Is it He Xingzhou?" Cui Weimin guessed.

"Yes!" Kong Qing said, "This young man, although young, has developed a Zerg gene evolution model that makes even us scholars blush with shame."

"He is very knowledgeable in this area, and perhaps he has some ideas and information to share with us. I've decided to incorporate him into our response task force as a scientific researcher!"

"Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures!" Cui Weimin stated, "Right now, we don't know when this Zerg crisis will erupt. Every minute and second cannot be wasted; I will send someone to bring him over now!"

Cui Weimin immediately made a phone call to start arrangements.

At the school, He Xingzhou was still in class.

Today's course was quantum physics, and He Xingzhou was listening attentively. He noticed that since acquiring the Quantum Light Computer, his thought processing seemed to have sped up, allowing him to quickly understand and absorb much information.

With less than ten minutes left until class ended, some students were already impatiently waiting to rush to the cafeteria.

At this point, a SWAT team approached the gates of Beijing University of Science and Technology.

A squad of fully armed SWAT officers disembarked from vehicles as they entered the campus, brandishing rifles that appeared particularly imposing.

"Is that the SWAT? Why have they come to our school?" curious students at the gate wondered aloud.

Someone tried to take photos, but a SWAT officer blocked them, saying, "Student, we are on a mission. Please do not take photos, thank you for your cooperation."

"I won't take any more," the student apologized before putting away their phone.

"It's not just SWAT, look, there's a vehicle driving right in!" some students noticed a special black military jeep driving onto the campus within the SWAT convoy, seemingly under their protection.

The license plate of this vehicle shocked them even more; instead of a number, it bore the words "Special Pass" in large letters!

"What kind of license plate is this? Why doesn't it have a number?" an inquisitive student asked.

"Special Pass!" another student exclaimed. "I know; I heard that during national important missions, these plates are used. Cars bearing this plate can pass unimpeded throughout the country and are exempt from traffic rules!"

"There's actually such a license plate? My goodness, the person in that car must be a big shot!" Students were bursting with curiosity, "Who on earth is it? What are they doing at our school?"
