Legendary Broken Player - VRMMORPG

Chapter 727 - Demon Shift

Broken logged back into the Immortal Legacy and found himself standing within the castle grounds. All around him, the signs of rebuilding were clear — workers moved with purpose, cleaning debris, repairing walls, and even starting to rebuild sections of the city.

He still had about three hours before the rest of the Vensalor Guild would be back online. They had plans to discuss the next course of action in response to recent events. For now, he had some time to himself.

Broken walked toward the garden. The once-beautiful space was now in ruins, but a familiar bench remained intact. He walked there — to check the rewards he had received after defeating Focalor.

As he made his way through the damaged garden, he spotted someone approaching — a figure clad in heavy armor.

It was Lionell.

Broken's lips curved into a faint smile. Seeing at least one of Alora's knights alive was a relief, especially after the tragic loss of Mercy, who had fallen in battle.

Lionell stopped a few steps away and bowed respectfully. "Lord Broken, it's good to see you return. Her Highness Princess Alora has been expecting you. She'll be available in about a few minutes."

Broken nodded, noting something unusual — Lionell's level had risen significantly since the last time they met.

"Did you get promoted to Imperial Knight, Sir Lionell?"

Lionell bowed again. "I did. Though I feel ashamed that I couldn't do more during the last war. I intend to make up for that failure with everything I have."

Broken gave him an approving nod. "Let Princess Alora know I'll meet her soon."

Lionell bowed once more before taking his leave.

As Broken watched him go, his thoughts lingered on the current state of Dissidia's knights. The previous Imperial Knights of the kingdom had fallen alongside the king during the war.

It was fortunate that one surviving Knight Grand Cross — Lionell — had been promoted to Imperial Knight. That alone would help maintain the kingdom's reputation.

But Dissidia would need more than just one Imperial Knight to stabilize itself.

It would be ideal to rebuild their ranks to what they once were — or even surpass them.

Perhaps it was time for him to start analyzing the remaining knights and identifying those with potential for promotion. The kingdom needed strength now more than ever, and it wouldn't wait for them to recover at their own pace.

Meanwhile, his own knights — the Slumdon Knights — had also gained significant level increases and received multiple upgrades in recent weeks. He wondered if he could push them even further to achieve higher ranks. Perhaps, with enough effort, he could see at least one of them promoted to Knight Grand Cross.

But the Slumdon Knights had already returned to Slumdon. That meant he would have to put those plans on hold for now… or perhaps let Maylock handle it. Maylock had mentioned he'd be logging in more frequently, which made delegating this task a reasonable option.

With a quiet sigh, he sat down on the garden bench, leaning back slightly as he took a moment to breathe.

The war… it was over.

The war that had loomed over the kingdom like a shadow for years had finally ended. And they had won.

But the victory had come at a steep cost.

So much had been lost.

And now… Ivana was gone too.

The thought weighed heavily on him, pulling his mind toward the West Continent. Could she have gone there? The idea of building a golem ship suddenly seemed like a priority. If there was even a chance she was out there, somewhere across the seas, he had to find out.

Determined, Broken opened his system notifications again. He had accumulated quite a few rewards from the war and defeating Focalor. It was time to review them — and maybe find something useful to aid his next mission.

[You have achieved the title: Abyssal Conqueror.]

[Effect: +10% Shadow Resistance. Enhanced interactions with Demon Races.]

[Future Unlocks: Demon Shift will evolve with each Named Demon defeated.]

[Progress: 3/10 Named Demons defeated.]

Broken sat quietly, reading through the list of achievements he had earned. A wry smile tugged at his lips when he noticed one glaring detail — he didn't receive any bonus stat points!

The game's getting stingier with me, huh?

He couldn't help but compare it to the time he defeated Gremory. If he remembered correctly, he had earned a solid 50 stat points back then.

Now? Nothing.

But then his eyes landed on a particular reward:

+10% Shadow Resistance.

Most demons relied heavily on shadow and fire elements, so this was a significant boost. Even if he wasn't getting direct stat increases, this resistance could prove invaluable in future battles.

Next, his gaze shifted to another reward:

+5% Damage Boost Against Named Demons (up to Rank 40).

He frowned slightly. That should be higher from this. He had defeated Focalor, who was a Rank 34 Named Demon. Normally, the damage boost would cap at Rank 30 for a demon of that level.

Well… no complaints.

But what caught his attention the most was the third reward:

Toggled Skill — Demon Form Transformation.

Now this was interesting.

With this skill, he could transform into a demon without relying on a demon mask. That meant if he ever needed to return to Hell, he could walk freely among the demons without drawing suspicion. No more hiding his identity.

The skill also hinted at the possibility of unlocking additional abilities once he defeated more Named Demons in the future.

But the requirement made him pause:

Kill 10 Named Demons.

Broken leaned back, tapping his fingers on his knee. He'd already taken down a few Named Demons so far, but hunting down 7 more? That was no small task.

Should I start hunting Named Demons in the Rank 60s or 70s?

And the Demon Form…

Broken couldn't help but feel curious. He wanted to test this new skill. Surely, it was just a cosmetic transformation — nothing like the full demon forms Paul or that girl from the Horde of Hell had used. Still, having an alternate appearance was always intriguing, especially for someone who thrived on versatility.

He glanced around, scanning the ruins of the garden for a secluded spot. He didn't want anyone accidentally stumbling upon him while he experimented with this form.

Should I worry about being seen?

Not really. If needed, he could always summon his full armor to cover his appearance.

Satisfied with that thought, Broken stood up and made his way toward a more hidden part of the garden. The area, surrounded by crumbled stone walls.

Of course, he could simply enter the Moonlight Dimension if he wanted absolute privacy. But he wasn't in the mood to hop in and out of pocket dimensions just for a quick test.

Once he felt he was in a safe enough spot, he took a deep breath and activated the skill.

[Demon Shift (Active Toggle Skill) activated]

A flicker of dark energy rippled around him as the transformation began.
