Chapter 744 - Zephyris Sentinel
Broken decided on the simplest, most memorable name for his new golem: Zepy.
[Name: Zepy - Zephyris Sentinel]
[Grade: Epic]
[Tier: 5]
[Level: 201]
[Skills - 3]
And then it happened.
Yes! Yes! YES!
He exclaimed, practically ready to jump out of his seat in excitement as the system revealed the golem's tier. Tier 5!
The golem had exceeded his expectations. It could truly fly using the wings that were integrated into its design.
Zepy's appearance was exactly as he had planned—simple, sleek, and efficient.
The golem resembled a normal bird, nothing extravagant or overly complex. He had intentionally avoided adding any unnecessary features, such as weapons or shields, to keep the design lightweight and focused purely on flight and reconnaissance.
Even so, the golem still carried a futuristic aesthetic, with smooth metallic contours and faintly glowing energy veins running across its body.
The talons and beak, though part of the standard bird design, were sturdy enough to potentially be used for light attacks if necessary.
Zepy came equipped with three skills, and Broken immediately focused on the first one: Windslicer Pulse.
[Windslicer Pulse (Active Skill):
Generates a concentrated burst of wind to repel enemies or clear obstacles.
Pushes back all enemies nearby, dealing moderate wind-element damage and staggering them.
Special Trait: Can disarm traps or destabilize flying enemies momentarily.]
This skill was clearly designed to provide protection for the golem. When activated, it unleashed a pulse of compressed wind energy capable of pushing back enemies in the surrounding area. This made it an excellent tool for ensuring the golem's safety, particularly if it needed to retreat quickly or clear obstacles blocking its path.
The skill also had strategic potential. In situations where Zepy encountered hostile environments or enemies trying to ground it, Windslicer Pulse could repel attackers or create a temporary opening for escape.
"A solid skill," he muttered to himself.
The addition of Windslicer Pulse made Zepy's primary function—flight and reconnaissance—far more reliable. By minimizing threats and improving mobility in challenging situations, the skill enhanced the golem's overall effectiveness.
[Ethereal Cloak (Active Skill):
Activates a cloaking field that bends light and dampens sound, rendering the golem nearly invisible.
Grants invisibility for 10 seconds. While cloaked, it moves 20% faster.
Special Trait: Cloak persists briefly (2 seconds) after the golem attacks.]
The second skill Zepy possessed was Ethereal Cloak, and Broken instantly recognized it as an ability inherited from the Aetherwing Falcon Soul Stone.
"Yes! That's what I was hoping for," he muttered, grinning as he read its description.
The skill granted invisibility for 10 seconds, allowing Zepy to vanish completely from sight. While the duration wasn't particularly long, its synergy with Windslicer Pulse made it incredibly practical.
If Zepy encountered danger, it could activate Windslicer Pulse to repel threats and then immediately use Ethereal Cloak to disappear and escape undetected.
Broken could already envision countless scenarios where this combination would be invaluable, from evading enemy attacks to slipping through heavily guarded areas.
"A very efficient skill," Broken mused.
"Nothing wasted here. This makes Zepy an even better scout."
[Zephyr Ward (Active Skill):
Creates a protective wind barrier around the golem.
Reduces incoming ranged and magic damage by 20% for 10 seconds.]
The third and final skill Zepy possessed was Zephyr Ward, a defensive ability that reduced damage from ranged and magical attacks by 20%.
While not an overwhelmingly large reduction, it synergized well with Zepy's exceptional mobility, making it significantly harder to take down during encounters.
"Not bad," Broken thought, nodding to himself.
Was he satisfied?
Yes… very satisfied, actually!
The most important feature for him had always been the golem's ability to fly, and everything else—the skills, the sleek design—was simply a bonus. That the final product had turned out this well was more than he had hoped for.
Now came the final step: applying the Golem Core to bring Zepy fully to life.
After completing the process, Broken ensured the golem was functioning properly, running it through various settings and scenarios.
One of his primary configurations was setting Zepy to patrol mode. While traveling with Beebot or in any situation requiring vigilance, he wanted Zepy to fly above and around the area, scanning for potential threats. This feature alone elevated Zepy's usefulness to an entirely new level. Find your next read at My Virtual Library Empire
"Perfect," Broken muttered, satisfied with the basic setup.
Finally, it was time to test Zepy's flight capabilities. Broken opened the window of Beebot, gesturing for the golem to take off.
Zepy hopped nimbly onto the edge of the window frame, its metallic feathers glinting faintly in the light. Then, with a powerful thrust of its wings, it shot out into the open sky, cutting through the air with smooth, effortless grace.
Broken couldn't help but grin broadly as he watched the golem soar.
"Outstanding," he said quietly, pride evident in his voice.
Broken monitored the vision from Zepy through his golem console and immediately saw the sweeping landscape around Beebot. The carriage was moving swiftly across the desert terrain, flanked by savannahs on either side. From this vantage point, he could also make out a mountain range to the left and the distant shimmer of the sea far to the right.
Several other carriages dotted the landscape nearby, their occupants traveling the same route. In one area, a group of monsters had gathered, clearly being hunted by a party of players not far away.
"Ah, this is so practical."
He fine-tuned the settings further, activating a threat detection mode that would alert him to any suspicious movement nearby—be it high-level monsters or players who might be attempting to chase or block Beebot's path.
It felt reassuring to have this level of oversight, especially in an unpredictable environment.
Zepy's small size and lightweight design meant it consumed minimal energy from the Golem Core, even while staying airborne for extended periods. By conserving its skill usage and relying on efficient flight, Broken was confident the golem would operate for a long time without depleting its energy reserves.
Besides, crafting more Golem Cores wasn't a problem. Monster Cores were relatively easy to obtain, ensuring Zepy could patrol continuously without putting a strain on his resources.
Broken reflected on his ability to control four golems simultaneously. With Beebot handling the journey and Zepy patrolling the skies, he still had room to deploy two additional golems if needed.
Suddenly, an idea struck him.
"What if I made a golem like Zepy, but designed to swim underwater?"
The thought intrigued him. If he eventually undertook sea voyages, having one golem to monitor the air and another to scout underwater would provide unparalleled coverage.
However, the challenges were clear. Crafting a golem that could swim efficiently might be tricky, and its presence in the water could potentially attract sea monsters.
Still, Broken imagined a small, streamlined underwater golem that focused solely on movement and stealth rather than combat. Its small size could help it avoid detection by larger threats.
"That's worth exploring," he thought. "I'll experiment with the idea once I reach Deadbay City."
For now, he let Zepy continue its patrol.
After some time, the towering walls of Deadbay City finally came into view. Broken allowed himself a faint smile, a wave of nostalgia washing over him. This was the city where he had first started his journey in the game, where everything had begun.
But this time, things were different.
He wasn't arriving as just another player but as someone of status and renown. The difference was made clear by the sight awaiting him outside the city gates—a procession of knights, standing in perfect formation as they awaited his arrival.
