Chapter 546: Various Clues, The Case Investigated by the Deceased Before Death
In the car speeding forward, Luo An gave Chenier a look and then pressed the answer button.
"Luo An, it's me, Reesi."
The familiar female voice came through the phone, Reesi said:
"I'm at the car rental company with Winslow, and we've found some interesting clues."
"Such as?"
"Such as the name Nockvic-Brage."
In a car in the distance, Reesi looked at the paper in her hand and said:
"Nockvic-Brage used the name Lutheur Field when renting a car, presenting himself as a wealthy man from Hawaii.
Also..."
"Wait a moment, Reesi."
Looking at the warehouse area they were approaching, Luo An interrupted Reesi, saying:
"You and Winslow take the clues back to the investigation team, and we'll discuss it together when we get back."
"OK."
Reesi on the phone immediately nodded in agreement, Luo An hung up the phone, and he and Chenier got out of the car, took out the golden FBI badge, and were soon led by the person in charge to warehouse number 193.
At the door of the warehouse, under Chenier's nervous gaze, Luo An bent down and inserted the key into the lock.
Click!
With a gentle turn, a crisp unlocking sound was heard, Luo An chuckled, and Chenier promptly stretched out her hand and gave Luo An a thumbs up, her eyebrows raised and eyes brightening.
Whirr—
Luo An stood up, violently pulled the metal rolling shutter door open, a complex smell of air that had not circulated for a long time rushed out along with dust.
Stepping back, Luo An and Chenier waved the dust away and waited a moment before turning on their flashlights and walking into the interior of the warehouse.
The warehouse was quite big, and the first thing that caught their eyes was an orange taxi parked there.
"..."x2
Finding the switch and turning on the light, Luo An and Chenier quickly shifted their gaze from the taxi and began to carefully search around the warehouse.
The warehouse was cluttered with various items - clothes, trousers, papers, folding beds, whiteboards, food, and more.
It quickly became apparent to Luo An and Chenier that this place was most likely where Nockvic-Brage stayed and organized his clues each time he was away from home as an informant.
"Luo An, I found a notebook."
Soon, Chenier found a hidden notebook behind a desk, turned around to look for Luo An, and saw him sitting in the taxi looking through something.
"It's some photos and documents."
Feeling Chenier approaching, Luo An looked up with a smile and handed over what he was holding:
"Nockvic's case this time is indeed very interesting."

At two thirty in the afternoon, at the office area of Team 13.
Luo An walked out of the captain's office, and Michelle was distributing coffee and cake to the agents.
After a short break, everyone finished their food, Luo An wiped his hands with a napkin, first looked at Mona and Michelle, and asked:
"Mona, how's your investigation going?"
"The results are not perfect, I can only say almost useless."
Mona sighed helplessly, opened her laptop, and said:
"The hospital's surveillance was broken, and the patient who was supposed to be cremated was replaced by the Night Watcher, not checked or cleaned, and directly sent to the cremation site.
There were many problems in the whole process, such as some people not checking the list, not confirming identities, etc.
But that patient had no family or friends, and did not pay for the cremation, so the cremation was considered a charity act, which is why many people simply didn't bother to check, and the required processes were just for show, so..."
"So this matter can't be investigated further, everyone involved in the process has issues."
Luo An nodded, continuing Mona's words:
"In short, all the mistakes came from that temporary worker, right?"
"That's right, that's what the hospital is saying."
Mona's eyes flashed with derision as she continued:
"Michelle and I also investigated that dismissed temporary worker, who was very angry, stating that he definitely did not mistake the number, and pushed the body according to the number, he didn't do anything wrong."
Reesi swallowed the coffee in her mouth, sneered, and said:
"Most likely someone switched the numbers of two bodies without the temp worker knowing, the temp worker is just a scapegoat who knows nothing."
Michelle nodded, and Mona spread her hands; they both had the same thought.
Luo An picked up a whiteboard marker, wrote down "Hospital" and "Temp worker" among other information on the whiteboard, then looked towards Reesi:
"Reesi, Winslow, what clues have you found?"
"Firstly, the name. When Nockvic rented the sports car, he used the fake name Lutheur Field."
Reesi continued to eat without speaking, seeing this, Winslow picked up a folder on the table and explained:
"We looked into Lutheur Field and found that he is a real person existing in the world, not much different in age from Nockvic."
"Wow."
Chenier was somewhat surprised:
"Nockvic has such nerve? Isn't he afraid of having his identity exposed?"
"Nockvic probably isn't worried about that."
Winslow took out the information he found and handed it to everyone, explaining:
"Although Lutheur Field is a wealthy man, most of his assets come from inheritance.
He himself prefers traveling and adventures, and his company is entirely managed by professional managers, not many people have actually met him."
"SIX."
Luo An took the paper and looked at it, then asked:
"Anything else?"
"Of course."
Winslow nodded and continued:
"Based on the name Lutheur Field, Reesi and I found the hotel he resides in.
During the investigation at the hotel, we found out that Nockvic had contacted a testing agency and spent a sum of money to have something tested, exactly which items were tested, Reesi and I have yet to find out."
"Good."
Luo An nodded in satisfaction, wrote "Lutheur Field" — the fake identity, and information about the "Hotel" and "Testing Agency" on the whiteboard, then turned his attention to Chenier.
Chenier nodded, stood up, and distributed the file bags she had been holding to everyone. Luo An stood in front of the whiteboard, posted a photo of a man and a woman, and introduced:
"Ladies and gentlemen, this Caucasian male with golden short hair, named Osmon, 38 years old, is the owner of a pharmaceutical company.
Next to it, this photo shows a Caucasian woman with gold-rimmed glasses, wine-red long hair, and a somewhat stern face, named Vivian, 40 years old, head of the scientific research projects at this pharmaceutical company."
"Pharmaceutical company?"
Michelle looked puzzled:
"I haven't heard of this company's name, what kind of drugs do they mainly develop?"
"A drug targeting liver cancer, the company hasn't been listed yet."
Luo An smiled and added:
"Even the drugs haven't started being sold, they are still in the research phase."
Reesi had a realization and said:
"Is this what Nockvic was investigating? Did the drug produced by this pharmaceutical company kill someone?"
"No."
Luo An shook his head, picked up the photo and documents found in the taxi earlier, and said:
"Recently, Nockvic heard through some channels that the owner of this pharmaceutical company is selling stocks, claiming their product has miraculous effects on liver cancer patients.
The pharmaceutical company will be listed soon, buying stocks now would surely yield a huge profit later.
Many are skeptical about this, so Osmon took those skeptics to their company's internal lab, where the head of scientific research projects, Vivian, carefully introduced them to their drug."
Winslow looked at the document in his hand, filled with technical jargon he didn't understand, and simply tossed it aside and asked:
"This seems to be just ordinary stock trading?"
"Based on selling stocks, indeed."
Luo An took another document from Chenier, laughed, and said:
"But while selling company stocks, Osmon was also doing something else.
He claimed he had a financial product with an annual return rate of 13%-17%, because he had bought stocks in his own pharmaceutical company, Osmon thought everyone was friends, and that's why he recommended this financial product."
"17%??!!" x4
