Legendary FBI Detective

Chapter 556: The Identity of the Masked Man, Clues, Evidence, Pursuit

"Who?"

As Luo An finished speaking, Winslow and Chenier immediately looked up at the computer screen, and Michelle also looked down at the photos of the drivers.

However, despite a thorough examination, all three were puzzled because they had never seen those drivers before.

"Luo An, who are you talking about?"

Winslow asked, confused:

"Do these people seem unrelated to the cases we've dealt with?"

"Top left corner, the second one, the guy named Etwan."

Looking at the image on the computer of a crew-cut, expressionless white man with mixed-race features, Luo An slightly squinted his eyes and said:

"This guy indeed has nothing to do with the cases we've handled, but I've seen him before."

Chenier paused, then ventured a guess:

"Did you meet him while taking a taxi?"

"That's right."

"..."

Chenier, Winslow, and Michelle exchanged looks. Luo An threw away the entry records and explained:

"This guy is someone Mona and I met previously when we came to Washington D.C."

Luo An briefly described the event of coming to Washington D.C. for an evaluation at headquarters.

This driver was the first taxi driver they flagged down right after getting off the plane.

The driver was taciturn, with calluses on his hands and body movements reminiscent of military habits, which had caught Luo An's attention.

Initially, Luo An speculated that the driver was targeting him and Mona, but through "Emotional Perception", he found that the driver treated them indifferently, acting normally, and just saw them as ordinary passengers.

After dropping them off at the hotel entrance and receiving the fare, the driver left without looking back.

"Etwan, 40 years old, single, a veteran, medically discharged due to injuries, previously jailed for assault, standing at 187 cm tall, roughly 190 cm with shoes."

Chenier read out Etwan's information, her eyebrows furrowed:

"Could this guy have been following Luo An?"

Upon hearing this, Winslow and Michelle immediately appeared perturbed.

"No."

Luo An shook his head, his "Emotional Perception" strong enough to detect anyone tracking him and discern people's negative attitudes or harmful intentions.

Although his memory wasn't photographic, he undoubtedly remembered anyone he met once, and those he met a second time made even more of an impression.

This taxi driver, Etwan, Luo An was sure he had only met him once, and he had not been followed by him.

"But I can't rule out the possibility that this guy has been investigating me secretly."

Looking at Etwan's expressionless photo on the computer, Luo An scoffed and asked:

"Michelle, where does this guy live?"

Michelle tapped on the keyboard a few times then answered:

"In a community in Northeast Washington D.C."

"Good."

Luo An nodded approvingly, stood up, and clapped his hands:

"Let's go, we're going to have a talk with this driver, Mister!"

"Understood!" x3

————

An hour later, Northeast Washington D.C., civilian area.

This was Luo An's second visit to this area; last time, it was to find the widow of Nockvic (deceased in the park), to investigate clues.

On the street outside a small apartment building primarily made of red brick, two black cars were parked.

Winslow and Chenier each led a few SWAT team members as they raided the apartment from the front and back doors.

A moment later, Winslow emerged from the apartment with a grim expression:

"Captain, there's no one inside the apartment."

Luo An's expression was unchanged:

"Any clues?"

Winslow lifted a data cable, his eyebrows slightly furrowed:

"We found a safe in the kitchen fireplace, but it's been opened and emptied.

It looks like there was initially a laptop on the bedroom table, but it's also gone.

It seems like Etwan took his belongings and fled before we arrived here."

Luo An tucked the pistol back into his pocket, turned to Michelle, and asked:

"Can you find out where Etwan's taxi is?"

"Checking now."

In the back seat of the car, Michelle rapidly tapped on the computer keyboard and after a while, she raised her head and said with helplessness:

"Sorry, I can't find it."

"It's okay."

Luo An wasn't angry, as Michelle's computer skills were just average, barely higher than his, nowhere near Mona's.

Luo An had already prepared for failure before asking and had a second plan ready.

He pulled out his phone and dialed a number; the call was quickly connected:

"Chief, it's me, Luo An."

"Uh-huh."

Over the phone, Vireness nodded and said blandly:

"I've already issued orders and requests to all law enforcement agencies in Washington D.C. As long as Etwan is still in Washington D.C., we'll definitely find him."

"Thank you, Chief."

After hanging up the phone, knowing that finding someone takes time, Luo An handed his phone to Michelle to keep in touch and then walked into the apartment.

Inside the apartment, Chenier was leading SWAT team members searching for clues. Upon seeing Luo An, she immediately came over with a notebook she had just found and handed it to him.

Opening the notebook, it was full of dates and numbers, Chenier guessed with a frown:

"It might be an account book."

"Thank you for the effort, keep it safe."

The content in the notebook was extensive, too much to read in a short time, so Luo An returned it to Chenier.

After searching the bedroom for a while and finding nothing, he left and entered the study. Luo An pulled open the drawer on a cabinet, finding amongst other items, a pile of data cables, plugs, and mechanical parts.

Winslow was just about to speak, but Luo An suddenly changed expression, removing the tangled data cables, and among a pile of mechanical parts, he found a dark red card, similar in size to a phone card.

Upon seeing Luo An's new discovery, Winslow and Chenier immediately came over to ask:

"What is this?"

"It might be some kind of credential."

Luo An casually replied, his expression looking unwell.

Back in the [Hollywood Tycoon Murder Case] (Chapter 326), Luo An defeated the female assassin Jianaya (Chapter 335) in a hotel.

From the female assassin Jianaya, Luo An acquired a crime website's credential, which was also a metal card.

The difference is the assassin Jianaya's metal card was gray-white, whereas the one in front of him was dark red; however, both were of similar size with similar magnetic stripes.

Later, under the coordination of group supervisor Potante Byrne of the FBI International Criminal Police and other law enforcement agencies, they began cooperating with the Special Investigation Team to handle this crime website (Chapter 338).

At that time of the investigation, Winslow and Chenier had not yet joined the Special Investigation Team.

Listening to Luo An's explanation, both were very surprised. Chenier, quicker on the uptake, speculated after some thought:

"Could there be a new underworld crime website? Is this card the new site's login credential?"

"Perhaps."

Luo An handed the metal card to Chenier for safekeeping, prepared to continue searching for clues.

Just at that moment, Michelle suddenly ran into the apartment holding her phone, exclaiming loudly:

"Team leader! We found Etwan!"

"Well done!"

Hearing this, Luo An immediately set off with Winslow and Chenier, asking at the same time:

"Where is this guy?"

Handing over the apartment scene to two SWAT team members for processing, the rest of the SWAT team members rapidly ran towards their troop transporter.

"That guy is driving, fleeing towards Baltimore in Northwest Washington D.C.!"

The few hurriedly opened the car doors and sat inside, Michelle in the back seat buckled up her seatbelt, explaining:

"Etwan, armed, hijacked a passerby's SUV. The passerby reported it, and the Metropolitan Police informed us immediately after they learned about it."

"Hijacking a car? Seems like Etwan is eager to up his game."

At the driver's seat, Luo An chuckled, and seeing everyone strapped in, he immediately released the handbrake and floored the accelerator; the car roared forward rapidly.

————

Baltimore, the largest city in Federal Maryland, is an important seaport city along the Atlantic coast.

On a straight highway from Washington D.C. to Baltimore City, a brown SUV was speeding crazily, its dangerous overtaking drawing curses from many fellow motorists.

The SUV quickly disappeared from view, and just as the motorists settled down for a few seconds, an even faster black SUV suddenly burst past them!
