Chapter 122: Sneak attack
Lucas, Jerry, Sandra, and Haley ventured further into the forest. Lucas was pretty sure that they hadn't come here at all and it was a new land that they could explore.
"Why did you suddenly want to go outside? Training is more important right now, you know." Haley asked while Sandra provided her with a ball of water that burst inside her mouth making her grumpy mood better again.
It was getting hotter and hotter the more they traveled further.
"I need to get strong and it was getting pretty boring just practicing the same skills again and again. And honestly, my progress is going fast so I thought taking a day's break might be good." Lucas said while looking at his status screen with a grin.
The others just clicked their tongues or snorted when they heard that.

'Good progress in only 8 days...' Lucas was satisfied with the skills progression. Even if they all were still level 2.
The progress bar stated that they would reach level 3 quickly if he practice day and night for a few days.
Lucas told the groups that he was bored but the reason was something else. He had a need to get independent as dependency was a very risky thing in his eyes.
He wanted to get strong faster than anyone else in order to lead the people better. He didn't want the leadership but even if he got it forcefully, he still needed to be better.
There was also the reason for finding those chests that were to spawn in the forest. Lucas had already killed two Boss monsters but still needed three more kills to complete one part of the objective.
Many in the shelter only had one kill in their requirements and Lucas had the obligation to level them up too.
'Not everyone can fight in this world, there are bound to be people who will die because their talent is not in fighting... But I won't let that happen in my group.' Lucas thought while steeling his nerves.
Not everyone was made to fight, there were many like Haley, Ella, Bill, and Sean. But it didn't mean that they were useless. There were many skills that didn't help in fights but helped the shelter and the group exponentially.
The group made its way forward while marking the trees and land for a better return experience.
Lucas was talking and looking around, there had been many herbs that included the ones that had the ability to increase strength for a few seconds, increase size, increase health, and many others.
Lucas was excited to go back and work on them, even if his equipment and skill level only let him make low and normal level potions. It was enough for their power levels for now.
Lucas's looking around had finally given him the chance to fight, his face contorted into an ear-to-ear grin which made the others frown at him.
"Stay here"
SCHWING! SCHWING!
Lucas took out his two swords from the respective scabbards with a satisfying loud metal sound. While the others obliged and stayed, Jerry had his guard on in order to protect the girls in any situation.
Lucas was moving toward a certain plant, per se, the same plant that had haunted him for a while.
'Whenever I thought that I was ready, I got defeated... but not this time.'
Lucas stood right in front of the plant and stayed without moving as if waiting for something.
CRACK!
The ground cracked at a fast pace and a big silhouette came out.
Lucas had already expected the attack and while he was only two meters away from the plant. His swords looked ready to strike anytime.
The rapacious plant didn't even show its full appearance and a huge mouth was already opened in front of Lucas trying to gulp him full without trouble.
At this time, Lucas had some surprising thoughts in his mind. Even when he leveled up, he didn't feel like it but ever since he started leveling his skills. The progression and comprehension increased making him see all the plant's movements fast.
Lucas moved in a circle while readying his swords. In a single second, his first sword started to crackle with current, and when he completed the rotation at a very high speed, both his swords clashed at the creature's mouth cutting the thing in half before it could even do anything.
The plant couldn't voice anything as if it didn't have a means to. Lucas looked at it go down with its mouth opened in a distorted way. The sides of the mouth were already but by Lucas which made it impossible for the plant to close it again.
[+65 EXP]
Lucas looked at the people behind him, a proud expression on their faces. The other three that were said to stay behind had their mouth agape while they looked at the corpse of the rapacious plant limp on the ground.
"Can you store it too, Haley?" Lucas asked while he tried to find the rope-like stem of the rapacious plant.
"Damn, Lucas! You didn't give it any time to attack! What the hell was up with that speed?!" Jerry was dumbfoundedly looking at Lucas but he finally made his way toward the big rapacious plant's corpse.
At first, he only looked at it with surprise but then his face became pale.
"What happened?" Lucas asked seeing his expression, it was supposed to be a good idea that he killed the thing but Jerry's expression said otherwise.
"I-It's level 10!"
