Chapter 134: Finally opening the blueprints and the weapons!
"Then how do we tell what it is now?" Lucas asked with a frown, he was very engrossed in the whole process and to know that the end result was something they did not know how to use.
Lucas was pretty disappointed.
"Let me just use it, the runes are supposed to increase a weapon or equipment's performance and durability. We just did the process on a small stone so I don't know what will happen."
Lucas asked for the stone after a minute seeing that Sean wasn't able to tell what was the use.
----
Inferior Rune stone
Uncommon
+5 in attack speed
The rune is made by a rookie runesmith who doesn't know what he's doing. This rune sequence makes the stone have an increase of 5 in attack speed. This rune sequence is one of the basic ones present in the whole plains of Amaeron.
----
"..." Lucas looked at the stone and then at Sean, a series of question marks formed in his mind.
"How am I always the first one to locate the description? Think of its description Sean, you should have looked at it before me." Lucas rebuked and tossed the stone in his hand again.
This time around, Sean looked at the description, and with a sigh, he kept the stone on the ground in relief.
"It's going to be a lot tougher with a bigger surface area. I need to be more active, so do you mind giving me some privacy?" Sean asked with politeness that took Lucas a few seconds to understand.
"I just wanna say that you did a great job already and made an uncommon thing on your first try. Good job."
He said and without waiting for an answer finally gave him some space and went inside his own makeshift workshop.
Lucas took his dear time to make a batch of the rejuvenation potion with the leftover raw materials inside the workshop.
Now that the forest in the front was burned and most of the herbs were gone, Lucas now had to go the other way in order to collect the herbs again according to the recipe.
He got out of the shelter and looked at the defenses with a grin.
The whole defense had changed for the better, the wooden spears were bordered with more finesse and there was not a single hole or anything in the flawless design making him wonder what a best thing his skill was.
There were also some good changes like the poison looked more potent and Lucas didn't know why, it was all dried up on all the sharp heads of the thick spears.
One more change was the horizontal spear that was just a bit above the center of the slanted spear. It was on the other side facing the forest of the shelter.
Lucas after marveling over the defense and later went outside to the back in order to practice his herbalism skill which was very important.
The leveling it up to level 5 before 4 months part was already solid but if he were to level it up fast, Lucas was sure that he would one day get the opportunity to extract the better herbs and magical plants from the forest.
Lucas went on a speeding spree and got all the herbs he needed in a plant fiber basket he carried with him.
It was one of the additions of the shelter from Dylan, his new prototypes and he had given John for free in order to market it a bit.
The insider news that he told John just because they were close cousins was how he leveled up again making him finally reach level 3.
'Damn lucky bastard, it sure is good to have a few skills...' After that thought, Lucas's mood became grumpy and he just plucked all the herbs in anger and precision.
The time came for the healing again and it was easy for Lucas this time around. When they were done, Lucas felt exhilarated and after takings some advice, he even got to know that his cheek was almost healed completely and that just a bit of skin was left to come back.
"Your skin which was all knotted at first is already healed completely, just a few more, and your eye will get better too," Ella said while huffing in exhaustion.
"I have been a big burden on you right, Aunt Ella?" Lucas asked with a fake chuckle in order to sound a bit sorry.
"It's the opposite actually, my healing skill was stagnating before but now that I am extensively healing without the care of mana depletion, my proficiency is increasing by a lot." Ella smiled and when they got out of the shelter, she saw everyone training diligently in their own fortes.
With a warm smile, she moved her staff and smacked the end on the ground. White light moved from her feet in a circle and reached everyone in its range.
Sarah felt like her energy was getting restored when she was hit by the healing wave.
So did the others but no one reacted other than smiling and thanks as this had become a regular thing for everyone already.
"So I guess practicals really make the skills level fast, huh?" Lucas mused aloud, realizing the benefits of hands-on experience in leveling up their skills.
Ella nodded with a smile. "Indeed, actively using our skills and facing real challenges accelerates our growth. It's one thing to learn the theory, but applying that knowledge in real-life situations helps us grasp and improve faster."
As they observed their shelter's fellow citizens training, Lucas couldn't help but feel grateful for all the people around him.
Each member of their group had their unique skills and talents, and together, they formed a strong and capable team.
'The formations are still a bit clumsy but I guess things will pan out well like always.'
Lucas had been thinking for a while, but at last, he went to Jerry and finally asked him.
"Jerry, don't you think we should start learning how to fight together."
Lucas asked the man who was moving the gauntlet in his hand around with the shield in another hand.
"And how do you propose that?" Jerry asked under his breath without stopping his practice at all.
"All this time, we have been having friendly fights with each other but we have disregarded our teamwork. You're the shield- the tank of the group. Since I got hurt, I have been thinking a lot about how overconfident I had become again."
Lucas said while stretching his neck a bit making some pop sound come out of it.
"I don't want this to happen to me again, it hurts like hell you know," Lucas said while he scratched around his left blind eye.
"So you are saying is that... you will move past your pride and won't attack head-on. You will first let me go and defend and then you attack?" Jerry was hitting the spots pretty nicely.
Luas may have been over his overconfidence but pride was something else, agreeing with Jerry on this would be like admitting that he was not good enough on his own.
But at the end of the day, he was the one that came up with this plan.
"Uh... I suppose you could look at it like that." Lucas said while giving the creepiest smile of all time to Jerry.
"I suppose I will. When are we starting?"
"Not today, I have already given a lot of time on physical training. Let's go and look at the stuff we got on that cursed day."
Lucas said and started walking with Jerry, in his way, he called everyone to get inside the shelter so that they could look at the things that they got the other day together.
Looking at them had been delayed as all Lucas could think about all these days was how to fix himself quickly.
When everyone got settled inside. Lucas, Jerry, Mike, and John brought the stuff from the storage and kept it in between the whole circle made by the group.
"Alright everyone, the time has come to look at this stuff but before that, I have something to say." Lucas took a pause, looked at everyone with determination, and started again.
"I am very happy that you respected me as a leader and did not look up this stuff when I was not around. Your trust in me will not be in vain as things will get better with time, I promise you."
"Alright Alright, we get it. Just look at the damn stuff already." Sandra spoke making Lucas click his tongue in annoyance.
He had come up with the small on-the-spot speech just a minute ago and she rebuked him before he could even get to the good part.
"Alright, let's begin." Lucas shuffled the stuff around and kept them in their own stacks.
First were the two weapons that were not in rough papers but in their physical form and the second was the blueprint Lucas looked at with all his interest.
