Chapter 4: First Fight
The Forgotten Labyrinth spread across the whole Selero Empire, having a total of twenty floors in it. The lower the floor, the more dangerous it would be.
The first floor was for the beginners and teenagers at the age of eighteen were sent here to gather Mana Shards through which they could cultivate and become stronger.
Sadly, for people like Max who had a waste of talent, showing that he couldn't reach high in ranks, they were just thrown aside. After all, to enter Labyrinth one had to pay the Entrance Fee.
As Max came out of the Entrance portal, he looked around the floor in excitement and thought, 'This should be the sixth division where the Boss is a Shadow Wolf.'
He guessed it from the way the floor looked. At first, it looked like a vast underground cave, with brown rocky ground and strange stones engraved on the walls to illuminate it. But he recognised it from the triangular bladed purple grass that grew between the rocks.
As someone who had made the world technically, Max knew almost everything about the labyrinth. Though, it was a different case for remembering everything.
[You can't remember details?]
"I can't, that's why I used to write tons of notes to not make any plot holes. Anyway, can I have some weapon at least? This body is too weak otherwise."
[Hmm, I left a dull blade in your inventory.]
Max was speechless and took out the dull blade, the helper of all newbies in the games. Well, it was still good so he didn't mind it.
The dull blade was...dull. It was a simple iron longsword with a small hilt, having a moon crest on it.
"Let's start farming then."

"10 EXP, huh," Max muttered, as he started walking forward in the cave. "It shouldn't be too much, but underestimating leads to demise so I would rather not."
He decided to start slow, mostly because his body was still weak and any random monster could kill him. He was just relying on his memory to level up in the beginning.
Soon, he passed by many corridors, with nothing in them. It made him confused, but he continued on and finally found his first target.
He quickly jumped behind a boulder and looked ahead where a bunch of large rodents with red eyes and sharp teeth were munching on a corpse of a wolf.
[Name - Dungeon Rat]
[Rank - First-Grade (Level 2)]
[HP - 99%]
[Aggro - 0]
'Dungeon Rats, huh. The first kill of so many newbies,' Max thought with a smile. This was a good encounter, as he had prepared to deal with them.
Max knew about his condition, so he planned to only fight if worst came. For that, he remembered the monsters he had put in the First Floor and came up with a few plans to deal with them.
Dungeon Rats were one of the very common monsters of the first floor, so he had prepared for them initially.
Smiling, he took out a small bell that he had stolen from the palace. Dungeon Rats worked in groups and were deadly for the newcomers.
But like everything else, they had weaknesses and one of them was being affected by loud sounds a little too much. A high-pitched cry always caused them to become confused and panicked.
That was what Max planned to use for his advantage, as he crept closer to the three rats. Sadly, his movements were caught by one of the rats, as it opened its mouth to alert others.
But just then, Max smacked the bell with his sword, producing a high-pitched sound which reverberated in the cave. And of course, it was followed by the rats' screeches as they ran around in panic.
Not wanting to let the opportunity pass, Max quickly ran towards one of the Dungeon Rats who was running in a straightforward line and screeching.
'They can get out of this state any time, so I have to be careful!'
In the next second, the Dungeon Rat sensed the danger and lunged forward instinctively, its claws ready to rip anything apart.
Max was ready for any counterattack and quickly ducked down, followed by a deep thrust into the rat's chin, their other weak spot.
As the blade dug deep in the Dungeon Rat's chin, he received a notification.
[You have slain Level 2 First-Grade Monster, granted 1 EXP]
'One of them is worth 1 EXP? Great,' Max smiled and sidestepped, feeling a chill running down his spine.
One of the Dungeon Rats had returned to normal and was now very furious at the human, who not only tried to enslave them but also killed one of their comrades.
It screeched and tried to sink its claw in Max's chest, but before it could do so, Max once again slapped the bell, producing a high-pitched sound once again.
'Good! they're in confusion.'
Max was feeling the thrill of battle, as his heart pounded with excitement. Adrenaline rushed through his veins, as he ran towards another Dungeon Rat and pierced its chin with his sword.
[You have slain Level 2 First-Grade Monster, granted 1 EXP]
"Nice, time for the last one," Max chuckled softly and quickly finished the other one too.
[You have slain Level 2 First-Grade Monster, granted 1 EXP]
However, because of that, his adrenaline rush ended as he slumped against the wall. Cursing his body for being so weak, he muttered, "Man, this was fun."
[Yup, it was fun. Go on, my soldier and fight more.]
"No way, Big Sis, I don't wanna die like that."
[Fine! How are you feeling now?]
Max clenched his fist and whispered, "It isn't too significant but I can feel myself getting stronger."
[Because they're weak. Continue to fight and you shall be granted Heaven.]
"That heaven better be you."
Shaking his head, he stood up and collected the mana shards from the monster's body and kept them. They were important after all.
Then, he walked off to find another group of pitiful monsters who would die at his hand today.
