Leviathan Hunter

Chapter 18: Chapter 18: Sailing in units

The Lighting division were working onboard, Keeping the ship sailing towards their destination. The crew's hard work made them sweat under the heated sun above them, making it even worse the seagull's flying above the mast were echoing loudly through deck with their screeching cries.

"I-I cant with these birds... Solan! Please shoot them!"

Solan stood silently by himself on the front deck, leaning into the fence. he watched the faraway horizon and heard the loud sound of tall waves striking the reinforced hull every now and then.

The sound of someone approaching from behind was eminent. The clanking of high heels getting closer and closer. Turning his head slightly around he saw his master approaching with her hand rested on top of her katana, her expression seemed tensed.

"We'll arrive at the meeting point soon, an owl recently arrived by my cabin with a letter that admiral Benedict and his division is already present". She said, her face was serious knowing they'd be facing an dangerous leviathan.

Solan stretched his arms a bit, turning and warming his body up for the upcoming meeting.

Sailing for another 10 minutes, two big galleons could be seen docked to an tropical island. Made out of mostly sand and a wooden house of some kind in the middle centering away from the sea.

Docking onto the small wooden port the lighting members threw off the ropes to get a steadier and aligned with the dock.

Lifting up the gangway they they prepared to walk onto the island.

--Thud--

Sarah walked down the gangway, her back straight and her head raised displaying her prideful authority. Solan followed right behind her.

A man wearing a similar outfit to them stood at the dock already, waiting for their arrival. A big clean beard that indicated that the man took well care of it, though he had a shining bald head which the sun reflected on... almost flashing Solan.

"...I salute to the admiral!" he shouted tensed straighten his back and saluting her.

"...Lower your hand...".

Solan noticed his different color scheme on the attire. He wore a blue strap unlike the lighting division who wore a violet strap across their chest. He belonged to the sky-division. They were similar in size but had more fleets then the lighting. And unlike the Lighting-division their work was more surrounded with handling criminals and pirates.

"My name is officer Kandel, I'm here to inform that admiral Benedict is waiting for you".

"...Lead us to him...". Sarah said simply.

Walking towards land away from the wooden dock the smell of smoke hit his senses. The island was flat, mostly made out of sand the other division took the chance to fire up campfires and several tents on it. In the center was a small wooden cabin, it seemed old, pieces of its wooden wall was hanging from it.

The rest of the marching soldiers behind them scattered towards the big beach to the opposite division members. Engaging in small talk it showed that many of them were familiar with each other.

'Before being admitted to a admiral division you'd have to go through the military academy where they educate every-one attending on the basics of combat, fleets and the world. Most of the members all came from that same military academy located in Soldat'.

Sarah, Solan and Fehler walked into the cabin guarded by two members of the sky-division. Recognizing Sarah's badges they gave way immediately.

Entering the cabin it had a rather tight air. They were met with the scene of a old worn interior across the flooring. There was a desk standing by the side with dust everywhere, a family picture on top of it. In the middle was a wooden table surrounded by four chairs, two on each side. Spider web visibly around every corner of the room indicating that this place was at least decades old without maintenance.

"...Tch, this place is disgusting...". Fehler muttered under his breath, not loud enough for anyone to hear.

"Hey! You guys finally arrived". A rough joyful voice spoke loudly.

The trio turned their attention towards to another door inside the cabin. And a lean well-built man in his mid-thirties appeared, his short white messy hair hinted that he wasn't the best at keeping his hair. A light stubble beard along with a slight tanned skin. Eyes that resembled a golden color that you'd only see on expensive silk clothes.

[Admiral Benedict Kruger: Captain of the sky-division]

"Admiral Benedict...". Sarah said in realization. Raising her arm she saluted him and so did the admiral across the table salute too.

"...Hehe, You look as beautiful as ever...". He said bowing down ever so slightly with a cheeky smile.

"..Haha, your praises always makes me feel confident Sir. Benedict...". Sarah said with a slight smile bowing down her head slight to show her respect.

The two of them seemed to be very good acquaintances was Solan's first thought. It wasn't everyday his master let someone compliment so easily. Knowing every-time admiral Katama would compliment Sarah she would only react with a pure disgust or a cold face.

"...And you are?" Benedict said sitting down on a chair across from them. The man's golden eyes were knowing and Solan realized that he wanted him to introduce himself. With a slight bow and hand on his heart he told.

"...My name is Solan... I am the master Sarah's disciple...". His voice remained monotone but with slight respect towards an admiral he'd never met but heard of.

'In the past, Admiral Benedict used to be a warden of Soldat's underground prison until he discovered his potential to wield an Leviathan slayer. Later he was given the title of admiral and a crew to serve a role handling tasks regarding fugitives and wanted criminals across the sea. A man whose nickname was 'Benedict, the impregnable wall of the marine".

And just by looking into his eerie golden eyes, Solan could recognize the eyes of a veteran man who have killed for years.

"I've heard about you, from words of mouth and stories...".

"...You hunted down three leviathans all alone two years ago... how old were you then?"

Solan glanced a bit at his master, not knowing if he should say it due to the contract of keeping his identity hidden. Sarah nodded indicating that Benedict was to be trusted.

"...I was 14 years old..".

"...14 years old?"

Benedict's eyes widened in shock. He wouldn't expect him to be 16 now. A boy who slayed three leviathans all by himself at the age of 14? That was something he'd only hear in fairy tales, after a little moment he regained composure from the shock and ended up laughing hysterically moving the chair a bit.

"...Hahaha! The rumors really were true?! I'm not even surprised..."

Benedict said before his voice turned deadly serious. His voice sounding like he took the truth as a joke.

"I can see that your fully capable of that".

Solan was a bit startled, a faint shiver running down his spine, his goosebump's standing up under his coat. It was a creeping sensation, it felt like he was staring straight into his soul. Those golden eyes were abnormally unique which made it creepier.

"...What a loud man.." Fehler said under his breath, displeased by the loud voice ringing through his hear.

"...Ehm, Enough for the introductions... We have a mission in hand do we not?" Sarah finally spoke up again, sitting down on one of dusty chairs resting her arms on the table.

"Ah Yes, the Silver-eyed Leviathan right!"

Benedict said before moving his chair closer to the table.

Solan could feel it, despite the fact he didn't possess an vessel. this guy was definitely stronger then his own master in many ways.

"Well, The sky-division isn't really suitable for leviathan hunting... So we'll have to leave the most work for you, we're here because Lumine requested us... But its obvious that the old man Joseph pulled the strings behind the scene...". He spoke itching the back of his head a bit irritated.

"...I can only guess why... Its because he wants Samira to experience Leviathan hunting...".

There the name was. 'Samira', Just saying her name made Solan's skin crawl. A nauseating sensation creeping upwards his head.

***

After a an hour of discussing the next steps for the mission, they both had agreed on the strategy that master Sarah had developed to get the Silver eyed leviathan. The last thing remaining was informing the rest of the members about the plan.

Stepping out of the cabin a high pitch, yet mature womanly voice spoke.

"...If it isn't Solan himself~"

The voice spoke, it came from the direction behind them. Leaning into the outer wall of the cabin was a tall woman. Long dark blue hair flowing symmetrical behind her back. Wearing a black corset above her white shirt hugging her thin waistline. Her Dark blue eyes staring at Solan's back.

'Solan didn't dare turn back, that darn voice... He had expected to meet her eventually but already?

"..."

continuing to walk pretending that he hadn't heard anything at all.

"It seems that auntie Sarah hasn't educatedyou on manners!" She said stepping Infront of him her long blade unsheathed, raised and pointed towards Solan.

"Hey! You cant just point a weapon towards a admiral's disciple-!"

Fehler stepped up at pointing at her angrily.

"Be quiet lowly noble... do you have any idea who I am? I am the daughter of duke Joseph Kritanta...".

She spoke with a huff her eyes glaring coldly at Fehler. She didn't seem very pleased by his presence at all. Her eyes like how a human would view an ant from a taller perspective.

"Tch... This girl is the daughter of duke Joseph?" He muttered under his breath crossed his arms looking away frustrated, Stepping back again after realizing her identity.

"....Holy shit... your so pathetic...". Solan thought to himself turning his head to look at Fehler.

Solan clenched his hand, signing for his master behind him.

"....Master... please do something...".

He told through his body language, now faced with his worst nightmare.
