Chapter 13: Author’s Note
Author's Note
At this point in The Dream That Waits, we are set in the late stages of Lord of the Mysteries—specifically, after Klein has ascended to become a Sequence 0: The Fool.
It's an alternative timeline where he's not battling with CW or in an eternal slumber.
For those unfamiliar or needing a refresher:
In the original story, Klein Moretti follows the Seer Pathway, gradually rising in power through sequences.
After uncovering deep mysteries about the world, fighting against outer gods, and mastering the authority of The Fool, he fully ascends to godhood by the end of the book.
As Sequence 0: The Fool, Klein is now a Great Old One—an incomprehensible being beyond mortal understanding, able to manipulate fate, reality, and the spirit world.
However, unlike most gods who lose their humanity, Klein retains his personality and free will, making him a highly unique and dangerous anomaly.
Where Are We in the Timeline?
The events of this fan story take place after Klein's ascension but before the epilogue of Lord of the Mysteries.
Klein is no longer just a mortal Beyonder. He is a True God, but still hidden behind the Gray Fog, avoiding the attention of even greater entities.
The world is still adjusting to Klein's existence as The Fool, and his every action has the potential to shake reality itself.
Yeaia's presence is an anomaly—one that Klein, despite his godhood, does not fully understand.
This is why Klein, despite his immense power, is still investigating carefully instead of overwhelming the problem with divine might. Something about Yeaia does not follow the usual logic of this world.
Why Does This Matter?
Because Klein is a God, his involvement automatically changes the stakes.
The fact that the Spiral is growing despite his presence means it is not a normal Beyonder phenomenon.
If Klein were just a mortal Beyonder, this would be a terrifying mystery. But because he is already a God and still doesn't understand it, that makes the Spiral even more terrifying.
Essentially, this story explores:
1. What happens when something exists that even a God like Klein cannot explain?
2. What does it mean to be forgotten—not just by people, but by the world itself?
3. Can you fight against erasure when the universe itself is trying to correct your existence?
With that, let's continue the story.
