Chapter 209 Admitting Guilt (Large Chapter)_3
"Little Black said seriously, "I really do want to beat the crap out of you."
"Come on, if you don't hit me, you're a nigger, you're a coward."
Luke didn't interrupt the two this time, listening quietly to their not-so-friendly conversation.
Before coming here, Luke had already prepared himself psychologically that this interrogation wouldn't be easy.
This could be seen from the arrest of Dominic.
At that time, he and Little Black had found Dominic walking out of a house. They had simply called out the suspect's name, and without saying a word, he started shooting, showing the extent of his brutality.
The likelihood of him cooperating with the police was minimal.
The authorities were reluctant to offer him a plea deal unless absolutely necessary.
Frankly speaking, releasing someone like him wouldn't only result in a threat to society but also a potential revenge against the police.
Since he was extremely unfriendly towards the police, there was no need for them to be polite, so they sent the combination he hated the most—Luke and Little Black.
The two of them were there to play the tough guys. Even if they couldn't get Dominic to confess, it didn't matter. The next team would use another method of interrogation.
Little Black said, "I don't hit you, not because I'm a coward. It's because I don't hit cowards."
"You nigger cop, are you here to argue with me? If so, get lost quickly. Don't disturb my rest.
If you want to fight, I'm ready anytime." Dominic was only seventeen this year, not mature enough, thinking less, but it was also because of this that he had more guts than adults.
Little Black said, "Haven't you figured out the situation yet? It's not up to you; it's up to me."
"So, what exactly do you want to disappear from my sight?"
"It's simple. Let's talk about the murder at Santa Monica beach on the night of March 30th.
Talk it out clearly, and I'll leave." Little Black took out a photo of the victim, "Did you kill Gil Bruce?"
Dominic smiled, "Want to know?"
"Of course."
"Beg me."
Little Black laughed as well, "You expect me to beg you? Are you insane, you idiot?"
"If you don't beg me, you'll never know the answer."
Little Black disdainfully said, "You're nothing but a coward who dares to do but not to accept, pushing the blame for murder onto your own sister."
"Don't bother with the pathetic attempts at provocation; they don't work on me."
"We've found out that Gil Bruce and your sister Anna were lovers. If she hadn't been cheating, she was probably the one he got pregnant.
And when Gil Bruce died, he was playing poker with another woman, clearly having abandoned your sister.
Your sister must have hated him, and the police even found the gun that killed Gil Bruce at your house.
Your sister had a motive and access to the weapon, so naturally, she was the prime suspect."
"Don't you guys slander my sister; she has nothing to do with this."
"It's not up to you; the police care about the evidence."
"Bullshit evidence. The real killer at the Santa Monica beach case not only killed Gil Bruce but also raped his new girlfriend. My sister doesn't have that kind of strength."
"OK, then tell me who raped Gil's new girlfriend?"
Dominic pursed his lips and fell silent.
Little Black smiled, "Your silence doesn't matter; the police have never announced that the girl was raped to the public. Only the police and the victim knew, and of course, the killer would know too.
Did you do it?"
Once again, Dominic was silent, his face turning a shade uglier.
"You can't even own up to what you've done, what are you if not a coward?
We both know that you can't actually get away with it.
Yet, you're still clinging to the hope of escaping, that is the behavior of a coward.
What do you think you'll gain from endlessly running away? Disability to escape guilt? Or leave prison?
Impossible. Don't be naive.
All you'll get is the police questioning and interrogating you over and over. Is that what you want?
Do you hope that we'll visit you in the hospital every day? Should we bring you flowers next time?"
Little Black scoffed, "I've seen plenty of suspects like you. They all act tough upon arrival, but once the interrogation starts, they try every trick to avoid it. It's really laughable.
At their core, they are just cowards."
"Stop, shut your damn mouth, and don't lump me together with those petty thieves." Dominic's somewhat youthful face showed disgust, "If I admit to the crime, will you guys stop harassing me?"
"I just want to hear the truth from you."
"Remember this, I'm telling not because your provocation worked, but because I don't want to see you two damn cops ever again."
"Likewise, so just spit it out quickly. Don't make me lose respect for you."
Dominic sighed, "If I confess, will my sister stay out of it?"
"It depends on whether your sister is related to the case."
"The only connection my sister has to this case is that she's the real victim.
My sister Anna was Gil's girlfriend, she truly liked him. When the two of them were together, she was always talking about 'Gil this, Gil that,' enough to make me, her brother, a little jealous.
I didn't oppose their relationship once I knew about it. Anna's grown up, and it's normal for someone her age to be dating. As long as she knows how to protect herself, I think that's OK.
It wasn't until recently that Anna's belly was getting bigger and bigger that we realized something was wrong.
