Chapter 6: Jaseung, He Cuts
Mook Young’s voice transmission came through.
-He is the Severing Demon, one of the Eighteen Elders of the Asura Demon Sect. He is a master who ranks 21st in the hierarchy of their sect.
Sure enough, at the man’s waist, the Severing Blade reflected the moonlight. It was said that hundreds of experts had died at the hands of that weapon.
-He’s extremely ill tempered and cruel.
That was obvious, as he was one of the Elders.
-Alright. You may withdraw.
-What do you plan to do?
-...
-Understood.
Mook Young’s presence disappeared completely. He had attained the highest mastery of stealth techniques, so the Severing Demon wasn’t able to notice him.
But it was obvious for Mook Young to worry about this situation.
It was a huge problem to kill an Elder of the Asura Demon Sect. It could trigger outright war with the Demonic Cult.
Both the Demonic Cult and the Unorthodox Faction may have been enemies with the Orthodox Faction, but that didn’t mean they were friends.
The three oppositions like the three legs of a tripod had long vied for balance and power in Jianghu.
“I will spare your life if you hand over the item.”
“I’m not sure what you are talking about.”
The Severing Demon scowled slightly after hearing Lee Jaseung. But then he forced a smile, one that did not suit him.
“Fine. I’ll make this easy for you. Do you know who this old man is? I am Jeolsak of the Asura Demon Sect.”
The Severing Demon believed that his opponent would wet their pants in fear if he revealed his identity.
But Lee Jaseung stood still with his expression unchanged.
He believed that Lee Jaseung didn’t realize who he was.
‘Is he not from Jianghu?’
Otherwise, he wouldn’t be so unaffected.
However, his aura was anything but ordinary. There was something unsettling about him, something that made the Severing Demon hesitate.
“Alright, let me tell you what happens when things don’t go smoothly from here. If you are a man, I’ll skin you alive and toss you in a barrel of salt. If you are a woman, I’ll throw you to a pack of beggars and then have your limbs torn apart and fed to wolves. But today, I’ll give you an exception. Give me the item, and I will let you go.”
Lee Jaseung smirked. It was obvious the old man was lying.
The Severing Demon was known to be impulsive and brutal, yet he was dragging out this conversation which showed just how important the item was.
“Tell me what this item is, and I’ll consider it.”
Then, the Severing Demon’s eyes gleamed with sinister killing intent.
“You dare bargain with me?”
He began walking towards Lee Jaseung, but he was suddenly asked a question.
“Did you come alone? Someone of your rank would usually drag along followers.”
The Severing Demon believed that the man in front of him had gone mad from fear. It was common for ordinary people to go insane after being afflicted with his Demonic Qi.
However, that wasn’t the case. Lee Jaseung’s gaze was calm and clear, and a chilling uneasiness crept over him. The Severing Demon’s heart began to pound harder.
He drew his blade.
Then, an attack flew in from behind.
Swoosh!
The Severing Demon quickly turned around and parried the incoming sword strike.
Clang!
It was Mook Young who attacked from behind. It was so fast that the Severing Demon had no choice but to block it.
In that instant!
Pwoosh!
He felt a sharp pain in his back.
A tip of a dagger pierced through his heart and burst out from his chest. Lee Jaseung stabbed him from the back without mercy.
‘How was he so fast…?’
That was the first thought he had. He had anticipated an attack from behind, but this was far beyond anything he could react to.
“...You dirty little…”
Lee Jaseung smiled coldly after hearing Jeoksal’s bitter words.
“You are really looking for fairness between us two? Neither of us has the right to say such things.”
Lee Jaseung ripped the dagger out from his chest, and the Severing Demon fell with blood gushing out. One of the Asura Demon Sect’s Eighteen Elders was dead.
Mook Young made an ambush from the back with Lee Jaseung’s command, making the kill easy. Though of course, the outcome would’ve been the same if Lee Jaseung fought him in a fair fight, but he was concerned about the recent change in his inner Qi.
It would’ve been foolish to fight such a master alone without knowing how the change affected his strength.
Mook Young pulled out a small pouch from his robe and scattered its contents over the Severing Blade’s corpse.
Tssss-
It was the Bone-Melting Powder. It dissolved his flesh and bones completely and erased all traces. A foul stench spread after.
Lee Jaseung picked up the woman and spoke while leaping into the air.
“Clear everyone out. Erase all records and traces of our movement here.”
* * *
Around fifteen minutes later, Dan Woobin burst into the inn.
“Did you really kill all of the assassins from the Hidden Death Valley?”
Lee Jaseung was calmly sipping tea at a table.
“I did.”
“The Hidden Death Valley won’t let that slide.”
“I made it look like we weren’t involved.”
“Why did you do it?”
It seemed like Dan Woobin had only heard about the assassins.
“I had no choice.”
“Of course you didn’t…”
Dan Woobin sighed lightly.
“We should be focusing on strengthening our foundation right now. We must avoid unnecessary conflict.”
“Got it.”
“Let’s prepare to leave.”
Lee Jaseung stood and changed into a new martial robe prepared by Mook Young.
Dan Woobin’s eyes widened as he watched. Lee Jaseung was wearing his Dragon Scale Armor, something he usually refused to wear even under pressure.
Moreover, he even had the Heart Protector on.
Dan Woobin shouted out in shock.
“Wait, are you injured?”
“No.”
Dan Woobin obviously assumed such a case. Lee Jaseung wasn’t someone who was going to be harmed by low-tier assassins.
“Then why are you wearing that?”
“Didn’t you always tell me to wear them?”
“But you never listen to me this easily.”
“Like you said, I should be more cautious from now on.”
“So you did cause trouble, right? Just what happened last night?”
Lee Jaseung smiled and changed the subject. He said something taunting that would definitely get a reaction out of Dan Woobin.
“You’re probably the one who caused trouble last night.”
Just as Dan Woobin was about to ask what he meant, he realized and his cheeks turned red.
“Trouble? We aren’t anything like that. We are just friends and have a healthy relationship!”
“Sure, I believe you.”
“It’s not about belief, it’s the truth!”
Dan Woobin’s face turned even redder. Then, Lee Jaseung’s next question startled him again.
“So, are you going to leave the Black Way Alliance like she wanted you to?”
“Huh? How did you know about that?”
“Any woman would’ve asked that.”
“I told her I can’t.”
“Tell her clearly. If you quit, you will die. Both of you will.”
“Don’t even joke about such a thing.”
Then, Lee Jaseung spoke with a cold gaze.
“I’m not joking. I’ll kill you myself on the day I have to let go of you. If I can’t have you, then no one can.”
Dan Woobin spoke with a trembling voice after seeing that Lee Jaseung was being serious.
“That’s a terrifying obsession.”
But strangely, he didn’t feel bad about it. It felt good to know that someone valued him so much.
“Don’t give me this treatment, and go find yourself a woman to date!”
Just then, Dan Woobin became shocked after feeling something in his hand.
He slowly turned his head and saw a snow-white hand.
A woman was sleeping on the bed where he had just sat.
She was covered by a blanket, but he didn’t notice her at all as he didn’t expect anyone to be there.
“Agh!”
Dan Woobin rolled off the bed and opened his eyes widely in shock.
“It’s a woman!”
