Chapter 1: New Beginnings

As I stepped off the bus and onto the campus of Oakwood High School, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. Excitement for the new school year, nervousness about making new friends, and a hint of sadness about leaving my old school behind.

I took a deep breath and looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings. The school was bigger than my old one, with more buildings and a larger student body. I felt a little overwhelmed, but I was determined to make the most of my time here.

As I walked towards the entrance, I noticed a group of students standing by the lockers, chatting and laughing. They seemed to know each other, and I felt a pang of envy. I wished I had friends like that, friends who would make me feel like I belonged.

I took another deep breath and pushed open the door. The hallway was bustling with students, all rushing to get to their first period class. I consulted my schedule and saw that my first class was English. I had always loved reading and writing, and I was excited to see what this class would be like.

As I made my way to the classroom, I couldn't help but notice the boy standing by the window. He was tall, with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. He looked confident and self-assured, and I felt a little intimidated.

But as I took my seat and looked around the classroom, I saw that the boy was now sitting across from me, smiling at me. I felt a flutter in my chest, and I quickly looked away, trying to compose myself.

The teacher, Mrs. Johnson, introduced herself and began taking roll call. As she called out the boy's name, "Ethan Thompson," he raised his hand, and our eyes met for a brief moment.

I felt a spark of electricity, and I quickly looked away, trying to focus on the lesson. But I couldn't help sneaking glances at Ethan throughout the class. He seemed to be watching me too, and I felt a sense of excitement and nervousness.

As the class came to a close, Mrs. Johnson assigned us a reading project, and we were given a few minutes to discuss it with our classmates. Ethan turned to me and smiled.

"Hey, I'm Ethan," he said, holding out his hand.

"I'm Sophia," I replied, taking his hand in mine.

As we shook hands, I felt a sense of connection, a sense that this was the start of something special.

And as we parted ways, heading to our next class, I couldn't help but wonder what the rest of the year had in store for us...
