Luffy Twin Brother: The Monkey King

Chapter 31: Chapter 31

"It's that bird! It's controlling the animals in this forest to attack us!" Chopper exclaimed, pointing toward the South Bird.

Everyone followed his gaze, locking onto the bird just as it let out a strange, echoing cry.

"Wait…" Kong suddenly said, his voice laced with realization, making everyone tense up in anticipation.

"You can talk?" he asked, his expression genuinely puzzled.

Everyone nearly fell over.

"At first, I thought I was hit pretty hard on the head," Kong continued, rubbing his chin. "But since everyone else seems to understand you too…"

Kong was genuinely shocked. The whole time he had been with the crew, he hadn't noticed anyone taking note of the fact that Chopper could talk. No one talked to him, at least, not when he was paying attention. Maybe they had, and he simply missed it. For a moment, he genuinely considered whether Akainu had hit him harder in the head than he thought… yes, even if he thought he was injured he did nothing because he was sure time would fix it… right?

I mean most guys don't go to the doctor even if they are sick unless the female in there life has them go. For those without a female, they would only go for work-related stuff… right? Or was Kong weird?

"I ate the Hito Hito no Mi," Chopper explained. "It gave me the power to turn into a human."

Kong nodded in understanding. "Makes sense."

Yes, it was far easier to believe that a raccoon dog had eaten a Devil Fruit and identified as a reindeer than to accept the idea that a raccoon dog could naturally talk.

Then, his curiosity got the better of him. "I wonder what would happen if a human ate that fruit… would they turn into an evolved human?"

The question made everyone momentarily forget about the South Bird as they pondered the possibility.

The bird, however, was not amused. It let out an enraged cry, flapping its wings furiously in an attempt to reclaim attention—only for hands to sprout all over its body, effectively restraining it. With a squawk of surprise, it tumbled to the ground, where Kong easily caught it.

"What is your Devil Fruit ability?" Kong asked, his curiosity piqued as he glanced at Robin. She had been the one to sprout extra hands on the bird's body, after all.

"Hana Hana no Mi," Robin answered calmly. "It allows me to grow extra body parts." To demonstrate, she waved her hand, and several additional arms bloomed into existence around her.

Kong's eyes narrowed with intrigue. "Any body part?"

Robin didn't hesitate. A hand sprouted on top of Kong's head and knocked him lightly. He rubbed his head, stretching his neck awkwardly. "I was just curious," he muttered, a bit sheepish.

As they made their way back to Cricket's place, a grim sight greeted them. The area was in ruins, debris scattered everywhere, and Cricket, along with Masira and Shoujou, lay unconscious, their bodies battered from battle.

To make matters worse, Luffy's ship had taken even more damage, adding to the strain it had already suffered.

"Guys, Cricket's gold is gone!" Nami's voice rang out, laced with shock. Everyone's eyes widened at the revelation. Cricket had spent years diving to the ocean floor in search of that gold—years of effort and dedication, all stolen in an instant.

Kong's eyes narrowed as cracks spiderwebbed beneath his feet with each step he took toward Cricket who lay there, looking at him with a calm gaze.

"Who did this?" His voice was dangerously low, simmering with barely contained fury.

Nami, Usopp, and Chopper instinctively took a step back, a wave of pressure pressing against them. Simply being near Kong made their heads feel light, the sheer weight of his presence suffocating.

"Forget it, your dreams are far more important," Cricket said, his voice calm but firm.

"Old man, that was ten years of your life!" Usopp shouted in disbelief.

Cricket gritted his teeth but didn't waver. "Shut up. What happened to the gold is our problem. What's important right now is your ship. It's too damaged to make the journey, so I'll call some men to have it repaired by morning."

Just as he finished speaking, everyone's attention was drawn to a nearby wall. Etched into it was a pirate's mark, a clear sign of who had been responsible for the attack.

"Hey, Robin, if I follow the coast, would that lead me to Mock Town?" Luffy asked, his tone unusually serious.

"I'll handle this," Kong cut in before Robin could answer. "You stay with your crew and make sure you make it to Sky Island."

Without another word, Kong's fingers morphed into small orbs, two of which dropped to the ground. He tossed one to Luffy and the other to Cricket.

"Point me toward Mock Town," he said lightly.

Robin gestured toward the forest, then handed him a map of the town's layout. Kong barely spared it a glance before launching himself into the air, rocketing forward like a missile.

It took only a few minutes for Kong to spot the town, and he descended rapidly—only to land as lightly as a feather.

"Now… gotta find them," he muttered to himself. From his body, a stack of wanted posters emerged, neatly stored within him. He sifted through them quickly, searching for the one belonging to the captain of the Bellamy Pirates. Once he found it, he set off, doing his best to keep his Conqueror's Haki in check as he asked around for their whereabouts.

It didn't take long before someone pointed him toward a bar. Inside, Bellamy and his crew were deep in celebration, partying over their recent haul of gold. The lively atmosphere, however, came to an abrupt halt when the doors swung open and Kong stepped inside.

The room fell into a heavy silence. Every pair of eyes locked onto him, expressions shifting from confusion to sheer terror. No one dared to speak. Instead, their gazes slowly drifted toward Bellamy, waiting to see how their captain would react.

An hour later, Kong stepped out of the bar, his body drenched in blood—but none of it was his own. If anyone dared to look inside, they would find Bellamy collapsed on the floor, trembling in horror, his entire form drenched in the blood of his fallen crewmates.

Kong didn't spare him another glance as he stepped forward, pausing only to throw a cold, cutting look over his shoulder.

"I'm stronger than you… so I have full rights to beat you… at least that's what you believe in. So, you should have no complaints here." His voice was sharp, dripping with disdain.

Bellamy's breath hitched, but he couldn't speak. The weight of what had just happened—the sheer brutality of Kong's strength—had stolen every ounce of bravado from him.

"A coward like you, someone too afraid to dream, has no right to mock those who dare to chase theirs," Kong added, his tone final before he turned and walked away.

While Kong had been dealing with Bellamy, Luffy, and Zoro had encountered him earlier, suffering a one-sided beating at his hands. Bellamy had laughed at their belief in Skypiea, mocking their dreams. But now, stripped of his arrogance and drowning in the aftermath of his own cruelty, Bellamy was left speechless, staring blankly at the bodies of his crew.

Luffy and Zoro hadn't fought back. To them, that so-called battle wasn't even worth throwing a punch. Luffy never mentioned the encounter, but Kong had pried the truth from Bellamy's crew when they scrambled to justify their actions.

Normally, Kong wouldn't have killed. Ever since setting sail, he had never taken a life—these were his first kills at sea, though not his first in this world.

As for why he had spent so much time in that bar? It was simple. He had used Bellamy's crew to train. He made them fight, forced them to struggle, pushed them until they had nothing left to give… and then he killed them.

Kong believed that all life had value. If he was going to take it, he would make sure that value was wrung dry, that nothing was wasted. Only then was death justified.
