Luffy Twin Brother: The Monkey King

Chapter 33: Chapter 33

[A/n: I'm not going back to rewatch One Piece, instead I would be watching the movies of each arc. However, I have noticed that the movies cut a lot of stuff. For example, One Piece Episode Of Sky Piea is missing all of the Blackbeard and Bellamy stuff. They just completely erased that stuff.]

"Clouds ahead!" Kong called out, his grin widening as he shot past the ship, rocketing toward the sky.

"I'll race you guys!" he laughed, pushing himself to full speed.

But his excitement vanished in an instant. One moment, he was soaring through the air, and the next, he crashed straight into what felt like an ocean—except it was in the sky. His eyes widened as his body suddenly grew weak, the telltale effect of the sea washing over him.

Yet, his momentum carried him forward, propelling him higher and higher. It was both a good thing and a bad thing.

Why? Simple. The ocean's presence had forced his body back to its original density, stripping him of the control he usually had. But thanks to the incredible speed he had built up, he didn't just sink into the sea of clouds—no, he shot straight through it, rocketing further into the sky.

Kong coughed violently, expelling a mouthful of water. The shock of suddenly being submerged had made him inhale a lungful of it, and his nose burned from the sensation.

Kong quickly adjusted his density just as he landed on the soft cloud beneath him. He straightened up, scanning the area in confusion—there was no sign of the Straw Hats. He had reabsorbed the part of himself he had given them earlier; the constant awareness of a detached piece of himself lingering elsewhere was more distracting than useful.

Tapping the cloud beneath him a few times, Kong furrowed his brow. After a moment of contemplation, he hesitated—then scooped up a handful of the fluffy substance and stuffed it into his mouth.

"…Tastes like water. A bit salty," he mused. He had just eaten a cloud. That was definitely a first.

He stood still for a while, the air around him eerily silent. Nothing moved. Nothing happened. The vast emptiness stretched out before him.

"I guess it's for the best that we split up. In the end, it's their journey… I should find my own crew," Kong muttered to himself, exhaling a sigh. He shifted his gaze toward the approaching commotion, his sharp eyes locking onto a group charging toward him.

Most of them had dark skin, though not all. Something about them reminded Kong of Native Americans. They rushed forward but came to a halt at a safe distance, watching him cautiously.

Kong's attention, however, was drawn past them. A massive, tree-like structure spiraled into the sky, its towering form dominating the horizon. But on closer inspection, it wasn't a tree at all. It was two colossal vines intertwined, stretching endlessly toward the heavens. And it wasn't the only one—several of these twisting giants loomed in the distance, their presence adding an air of mystery to the strange land Kong had found himself in.

"Who are you guys?" Kong asked lazily, his gaze drifting down to their feet, curiosity flickering in his eyes. "I just came from the sea below, so I doubt I have any money you'd want." He was more interested in how they were standing on the clouds than anything else.

The man leading the group ignored Kong's words, his attention shifting to the small girl clinging to his leg. "Is it him?" he asked her.

The little girl hesitated for a second before nodding. "I can feel it… he has a powerful aura." Her voice was quiet but certain, and at her confirmation, the group faced Kong.

"Rude," Kong said lightly, though he wasn't truly offended. His gaze locked onto the little girl, curiosity flickering in his eyes. It was obvious that she had somehow sensed his arrival, prompting the group to gather before him.

"She says you are as strong, if not stronger than God…" the man spoke, but before he could say another word, Kong raised a hand, stopping him. Without a care, he brought a finger to his ear and began casually cleaning it.

Kong rolled his eyes. "Let me guess—the white man took your land, and now you're fighting to take it back?" His casual tone and dismissive attitude clearly irritated the group, but he wasn't done talking.

"I don't mind helping," Kong continued, stretching his arms behind his head. "But I've got two conditions. First, you teach me how she was able to sense me. Second, you point me toward someone strong. I've been looking for crew members, and this guy you call 'God' sounds tough. So, I wanna see if he's worth recruiting for my pirate crew."

His words left the group stunned, their expressions frozen between confusion and disbelief.

"First, prove that you're strong," one of them said, stepping forward. Without hesitation, one of them rushed forward, hoisting a bazooka onto his shoulder. Kong's eyebrow twitched in mild surprise.

With a loud boom, the man fired. The cannonball shot straight at Kong—only to pass right through him like he wasn't even there. Kong turned his head, watching as the projectile crashed harmlessly into the clouds behind him.

"H-how did you do that?" everyone gasped in shock—everyone except the little girl, who had seen exactly what had happened.

"His body shifted, allowing the attack to phase right through him," she said in shock, her eyes wide with disbelief.

Kong, however, looked at her with amazement. She had seen through it. Indeed, just as the cannonball was about to hit him, he had altered his body, opening a gap precisely where the projectile would have struck. The cannonball passed clean through him before he seamlessly closed the space, creating the illusion that it had simply phased through his body.

"Now I'm even more curious. How are you able to read my movements?" Kong asked, his eyes locked onto the girl.

Everyone's pupils shrank in shock. They blinked—and in that instant, Kong was gone, only to reappear right before their leader, kneeling in front of the little girl. She stiffened under his gaze, fear flickering in her wide eyes.

"It's called Mantra…" she answered subconsciously.

Kong nodded in understanding, stepping back just in time to dodge an incoming strike from the group's leader, who had reacted to his sudden movement with an attack.

"So, does Mantra allow one to sense attacks and other such things before they happen?" Kong asked with genuine curiosity, his gaze still on the girl.

She nodded lightly in response.

"Don't ignore me!" the man growled, his frustration boiling over. Feeling utterly disregarded, he yanked out his bazooka, aiming it directly at Kong.

Kong turned his head, giving the man a blank, almost unimpressed stare.

"Let me get this straight. You know I'm stronger than you—so strong that you came asking for my help. You attack me not once, but twice. I ignore it, and now you're just going to keep attacking me over and over until what? I start hating your tribe or something?" Kong asked with a frown, his tone laced with annoyance.

The man gritted his teeth, his hands tightening around his weapon, but then he froze. He could feel the small hand wrapped around his leg—gentle, yet firm. After a tense second, he exhaled sharply and lowered his weapon.
