Mage Legend

Chapter 434: Travel and Travel Beyond Chapter Twenty-One: Priest_2

Quickly leaping over a thicket, Kuboert finally discovered the local residents of the Elf Kingdom. Three elves were being hunted by more than twenty ghouls, trapped in a small clearing.

Although the three elves were quite agile, there were no trees here for them to climb. If they tried to leap outward with effort, they would only fall into a tighter encirclement by the enemy. Without the advantage of distance, the ghouls could launch attacks more leisurely. Their black long claws tore at the elves' leather armor several times. If these creatures tore open a wound, a foul power would follow the ghoul's filthy claws into the prey's body, quickly weakening them. Meanwhile, the thin sword in the elves' hands clearly had little effect on this group of undead. The bluish-green, blister-filled skin seemed coated with a layer of glue, difficult to pierce. Even if they left wounds on these undead, they had to be wary of the liquids splashing from them, which also had the power to weaken.

The elves' bodies were relatively slimmer compared to other races, giving them weaker resistance to disease and poisons. If it were strong-built dwarves here, they might be wielding their massive axes, carving out a path forcibly. But the elves could only use the limited space to dodge and evade attacks.

Kuboert sprinted down, raising the holy emblem high in his hands, loudly extolling the majesty of the Light God. A milky white glow rose from his hands, illuminating the surroundings like a beacon.

The undead creatures illuminated by that light appeared as if doused with strong acid, wisps of white smoke rising from their skin with a hissing sound. They twisted their bodies violently, howling in agony. The holy power to disperse the undead was like unavoidable rain of arrows; it was also a crushing heavy hammer, having a strong effect on these undead creatures.

A few ghouls turned their heads, wanting to find the detestable priest emitting this dispersing power. However, in their eyes, only a bright light, a dazzling brightness lay before them. Without the light, the undead could still discern the path ahead, as they were creatures of the night; but under the intense daylight, they couldn't see anything.

The ghouls had no choice but to abandon their trophies at hand and turn to flee. The elves wouldn't let this opportunity slip by, seizing their opening to chop off the heads of two undead. These creatures oozing with green fluids, once decapitated, fell motionless, unable to move again.

Kuboert invoked the holy name of the Light God, devoutly requesting power. Driving the undead monsters away wasn't Kuboert's entire intention; he wanted to cast "Greater Dispel," to annihilate those creatures in one fell swoop.

Pate, as if hearing his prayer, gathered the scattered holy power into a few focused rays, striking directly at those undead. This time, it was even stronger than all the power combined before. The attacked ghouls burst like soap bubbles, vanishing with a pop.

Even though he felt powerless all over, the Greater Dispel consumed immense physical strength, yet Kuboert still felt a sense of satisfaction from his heart. Overcoming evil, upholding justice, in a way, had become the honor sustaining his life.

The filthy corpses gradually sank into the ground, to be completely obliterated by the waters of Erutalon. Priest Kuboert leaped across the grass trampled into chaos by the monsters and came to the side of those elf warriors.

"Your wounds need immediate healing, elf friends," Kuboert said, and he did just that. His broad palm glowed with a milky brightness, swiftly healing the bruised and blackened wounds. The disease curses carried by the ghouls' claws and fangs were cleansed thoroughly.

"Thank you, priest of the human world." The elf's Common Language was not fluent, but the gratitude reflected in his eyes conveyed his intention: "May I ask why you've come to the land of Salantir?"

"I'm looking for a few people," Kuboert said. "Light God Pate has tasked me with finding a mage named Lynch."

The elves' expressions suddenly turned serious, as Lynch's name caught them by surprise.

Kuboert noticed the change in the elves' expressions, thinking he had misspoken. He quickly added, "Additionally, I've come here to also do my part for our elf friends. To unite the countries of Moon and Pate."
