Mage Legend

Chapter 460: Travel and Travel Beyond Chapter Twenty-Nine Obstruction

The undead creatures that appeared before Lynch and Kuboert were basically the upper echelon of the Undead Clan. Unlike skeletons or zombies that could only act on pure instinct, these undead had their own intelligence. They could think and learn, growing stronger with each battle.

These beings had an eternity to waste, becoming ever more terrifying. When facing them, one must give their full attention to survive.

Though Kuboert was a Priest skilled in dispelling undead, he had only dealt with ghosts or vampires before. He had no experience with high-level undead like the Skeleton Naga. This creature was over three meters long, essentially composed of the skeleton of a giant serpent, but with a bizarre human skull in place of a head. Two large blue Poison Teeth jutted out from the skull's front, always ready to give its enemies a taste of agony. However, it would be a grave mistake to consider it merely a simple snake corpse. In its eye sockets, cold and cruel light burned, occasionally flashing with wicked intelligence. The Skeleton Naga could cast spells, even more proficiently than some mages who had delved into magic for years. In the Undead World, it had learned to perceive magical power; spells were a natural means of attack for them.

Kuboert had once read in the records of the Pate Temple about the glorious deeds of previous Priests, including stories of those who sacrificed their lives to destroy a Skeleton Naga. In those tales, ten High-level Priests worked together to finally subdue such an undead creature. Now, facing the Skeleton Naga, there were only two people.

For Lynch, that serpentine monster was not too difficult to handle. When it came to using spells, a young mage mastering the Magic Origin Power would not fear these undead—they were only at the level of magicians and had no research in arcane arts. While Kuboert's gaze fixed on the Skeleton Naga, Lynch focused on the largest undead creature there—the Sword Bone Demon.

In contrast to the Skeleton Naga, the Sword Bone Demon concentrated all its strength in close combat. Compared to burning enemies to ash with spell flames, it preferred to tear their flesh apart bit by bit. Each protruding joint on its body was elongated and terribly sharp. Utilizing this advantage, the Sword Bone Demon honed these joints to razor-sharpness, so that a scrape from these bone blades would leave massive wounds. Yet the most terrifying aspect was its hands, each finger nearly a meter long, sharp like spears and able to slice like machetes. Lynch had to keep a constant distance from it to avoid being cut while focusing on casting spells.

The Sword Bone Demon was the first to act. It crossed the puddle in front of it with its thin, elongated legs, charging at the two blocking its path with speed disproportionate to its size. Meanwhile, the Skeleton Naga's mouth began to glow green, suggesting that the spell it was preparing was either a Poison Arrow or an Acid Arrow.

Kuboert instinctively stepped back half a step before suddenly becoming alert and stood back beside Lynch. Encountering such a monster for the first time, anyone would naturally feel timid—except those fervent Paladins. Not turning to flee on the spot and maintaining his fighting spirit under the fear of the Devourer made Lynch give Kuboert a look of approval.

Simultaneously, the mage waved the Powerful Wand, erecting a force field wall in front of himself.

Like other undead creatures, the Sword Bone Demon failed to notice the barrier ahead and rammed straight into it. But its massive figure and the following relentless strikes caused ripples to appear on the transparent wall. After just five attacks, the force field wall was destroyed. At that moment, the Skeleton Naga's Poison Arrow was also released, aimed straight at Priest Kuboert's chest. Although Fyyian ordered these undead creatures to deal with Lynch first, the "Sun God Priest" aura emanating from Kuboert made these undead extremely disgusted, making the Priest the main target initially.

The inexperienced Pate Priest suddenly found himself in a mental blank, momentarily unsure how to dodge the imminent attack. His mind seemed to flood with a thousand methods, yet he could latch onto none for action.
