Magus Supremacy

Chapter 448: Flash Step!

"I'm not one for many words so let's get straight to the lesson. Spread out, give yourself a one-metre distance from the other person and prepare for a brutal session." Kent smirked as he scanned the students, who quickly hurried to obey his instructions.

"What is our lesson for today?" Kent asked, his gaze sweeping across the room as the students stared back, waiting for his next words.

"Let me start by asking you all. What do you think is the greatest advantage of a Yun warrior?"

"Uhm… strength!" a student replied, raising his hand eagerly.

"Wrong," Kent said sharply.

"Durability?" another student ventured.

"Wrong."

"Intelligence?"

"Wrong again."

"A warrior's strength relies on how they analyze their opponent's tactics and skills to use against them," a student tried.

"Still wrong. You are slightly correct, but that is not what I am looking for," Kent replied, scanning the room once more, his patience thinning as he searched for someone capable of giving the right answer.

'What's a warrior's greatest advantage?' Grey thought, his mind flashing back over all the fights he had endured and every lesson he had learned. From the skirmish with the Midnight Sun's members in the alleyway, to his duel with Finral, the scuffle at Yami's house, the assessments at the academy, then his sparring with Thalos, and finally, the brutal clash with Mada. A single truth began to emerge from all of it.

"So nobody can give me an accurate answer?" Kent asked, exhaling in exasperation. "Damn, you all are dense. A warrior's greatest advantage lies in their…"

"In their speed!" Grey blurted out, and the entire class gasped. Students quickly parted to see who had spoken, all eyes turning toward him.

"What did you say?" Kent asked, intrigued, as Grey met his gaze steadily.

"I said a warrior's advantage lies in their speed. If they aren't fast enough, they can't dodge attacks or land one of their own. Strength matters too, but without superior speed, even a strong warrior is at a disadvantage," Grey explained, his tone confident. A smile slowly crept across Kent's face.

"What's your name?" the instructor asked.

"Grey," he replied.

"Nice name. Keep it up. You show promise and sharp observation," Kent said approvingly before turning back to the rest of the class.

"Tch! What good is knowledge if he can't apply it in a real fight?" Mada muttered under his breath, scowling at Grey.

"As Grey pointed out, a warrior's speed is their greatest advantage. Most of you are far too slow, especially the blue band. You might not even realize when a red band moves or attacks, leaving you exposed to hits," Kent explained as he stretched slightly, surveying the students.

"And that is why I am here—to give you all an equal opportunity to improve. If you manage to learn these techniques, excellent. You gain an edge. If not, it is your loss. I am certain that more than half of you will struggle to grasp everything I am about to teach."

'He's not wrong,' Grey thought, clenching his hands tightly. 'The blue bands are weak, which is why they are so numerous. The yellow bands are only slightly better. Only the red bands enjoy true privileges. But that will change soon, and I will make sure of it.'

"And what is the solution I have brought to you all? It's called Flash Step." Kent smiled as he scanned each of the students, his eyes sharp and assessing.

"What's a Flash Step?" a student asked timidly.

"Great question. See, Flash Step isn't teleportation. It's not something overly magical. It's just a simple, Ki-based acceleration. Controlled, concentrated, explosive movement that makes it appear as if you vanished.

It's fast. It's lethal. And if done wrong—it's painful. Not to you, but to your opponent," Kent added, chuckling at the last statement.

"Huh? Does something like that really exist?" a blue band student asked hesitantly.

"If it didn't, do you think the instructor would bother to teach it to us? I'm sure you won't understand because you have probably never seen a high-stage Ki warrior in action," a red band student scoffed, cutting off the blue band student's objections.

"I knew most of you wouldn't believe me, which is why I am here," Kent said, clapping his hands with authority. A small bang echoed followed by a thudding sound.

All heads turned toward the source, and the same training doll they had faced during the assessment was now standing in the center of the hall.

"Give space," Kent ordered, and the class parted swiftly, forming a straight path toward the doll as if the room had been parted like the Red Sea.

Without another word, Kent leapt from the platform, crouching slightly, one foot sliding back. His stance coiled like a spring, every muscle tensed and ready.

Ki swirled visibly around his feet, his gaze locked on the dummy. He inhaled, controlled his breathing, and his muscles tensed around his calves as he prepared to strike.

BOOM!

A thunderous clap echoed through the hall as he vanished in a blur, wind whipping through the students' hair. Before anyone could blink, he reappeared ten meters away, standing directly behind the wooden training dummy.

He tapped the dummy once, and the entire thing snapped in half, collapsing to the ground with a loud crash.

Students gasped.

Everyone was stunned, their mouths agape.

"Di…did he just teleport?" a student whispered in awe.

"No, you fool! It's different. He simply moved faster than your eyes could follow." another corrected.

"But…but how?" a blue band student asked again, eyes wide.

"I guess it's the effect of being a high-stage warrior," someone muttered in admiration.

'Hmm… interesting,' Thalos thought inwardly, his eyes narrowing as he watched Kent.

"Now that, my students, is what we call Flash Step. Although I did not perform it perfectly," Kent said, rubbing the back of his head with a small chuckle.

"What do you mean? We could barely see you move," a student asked, astonished.

"That's the point. Move faster than your opponents can see or hear. I made a sound while moving this time, signaling to my opponent that I was coming at immense speed. Skilled fighters could still counter. Meanwhile, those stronger than me can move silently. They move so fast that it actually appears as if they teleport," Kent explained, pacing slightly as he demonstrated the movement's intention with his hands. The students nodded, absorbing every word.

'I…is that what Dad and that Captain guy did that day?' Finral thought, recalling the fight with the Midnight Sun captain.

"Anyway, let's get started with learning, shall we?" Kent said with a wide, confident smile, turning toward the students ready to demonstrate the techniques.
