Marineford's Logistics Blacksmith

Chapter 156: Chapter 156: Sengoku Was Completely Stunned!

"Hehehe… Sengoku-san, looks like you came well-prepared. Trying to get yourself a personal weapon, huh?"

After exchanging a knowing look with Borsalino, Hammer immediately slipped into his ruthless merchant mode. That tone of voice, ugh, pure black-hearted salesman.

Sengoku felt his heart tremble a little, but the temptation of a personal weapon was too great.

Who could resist a weapon that's both powerful and stylish?

Forget it! Even if it costs him dearly, he's Sengoku! The future Fleet Admiral! He needed to have some dignity!

"Hmph! That's right. I've collected many rare gems, one even contains a powerful light element. As the wielder of the Human-Human Fruit, Mythical Zoan: Daibutsu, I can sense the energy within it."

"Hammer, I'll hand over all my ores. In exchange, forge me a custom weapon."

Hammer was a little stunned by Sengoku's direct offer.

So was Borsalino.

The two looked at each other and instantly read the same confusion in each other's eyes.

Neither of them expected this from Sengoku.

This guy was notoriously stingy, basically the navy's "iron rooster." To make him bleed resources usually required trickery.

Now, out of nowhere, he was generously handing over everything to Hammer.

Even Hammer started to feel uneasy. 'Was this old man scheming something again?'

Even Borsalino didn't quite know what Sengoku was up to anymore. He had been prepared to play bad cop alongside Hammer to scam Sengoku a bit…

"What? Hammer, don't tell me you're scared. Come on! Show the same guts you had when you took on Whitebeard!"

Sengoku, seeing Hammer hesitate, seized the momentum and went full-on boss mode. For once, he felt like a commanding officer again!

He silently thanked Tsuru for her advice, giving the man a sweet deal first, then hit him with pressure. The provocation tactic was paying off.

"Hmph! Scared? Of course not! It's just a personal weapon!"

"Bring out the minerals. If they're good enough, I'll forge your weapon!"

Hammer was instantly baited into it. After all, once the ores were in his hands, he had the final say on what he used and how.

Both of these schemers had their own plans.

Still, Sengoku's eyes lit up with excitement upon hearing Hammer agree.

"Wait here! I'll get them right now!"

He bolted out of the Fleet Admiral's office like a tornado, leaving everyone dumbfounded.

"The lure of a personal weapon really is powerful... That old fool didn't even greet me!"

Kong was not pleased. Sengoku had always shown him respect; this was the first time he'd blown past him without a word.

Meanwhile, Hammer turned to Kuzan;

"Kuzan, you got any missions lined up? I've got an idea and need your help with an experiment."

He was still thinking about using Unmelting Ice, something he hadn't tested yet. If successful, it could be a formidable forging material.

"Oh! My dearest comrade, I'm currently assigned to patrol the Four Seas. But if you want to tag along, you're welcome, after your ship is repaired, of course."

Kuza, of course, welcomed Hammer, especially if it meant weapon customization.

Hammer nodded. Once the Warhammer was repaired, he would definitely patrol with Kuzan and work on modifying the Unmelting Ice using the Ice-Ice Fruit.

"Hammer! Hammer!"

"Come take a look, are these materials enough for a custom weapon?!"

Sengoku's booming voice echoed through the entire office before he even arrived, jolting Garp awake mid-nap.

"Sengoku, what the hell woke me up from a great dream!"

But no one paid Garp any mind. All eyes were locked on the massive crate Sengoku was hugging.

He threw it open, and a rainbow of ores shimmered inside.

Hammer immediately darted over, eyes gleaming, whispering like a lunatic:

"Whoa…old man, where did you find this stuff?"

"This iridescent one… Rainbow Ammonite?! That's a huge piece!"

"Is this… Topaz? That clarity, it's almost like diamond!"

"Hmm? Glowing gold, warm to the touch… This… is this the Crystal of Light? Or a Luminous Stone? Vegapunk was right… these really do exist!"

For a blacksmith, nothing causes madness quite like rare ores.

Hammer was now completely possessed.

This crate of minerals was priceless. Even he had to admit, Sengoku really came through.

But Sengoku's face turned dark fast.

Besides that glowing gold rock, he thought the rest were just somewhat rare.

After Hammer's wild praise, he realized… he'd way undervalued what he gave away.

Thinking back on the deal he'd just made, he felt like he'd lost billions in value.

Still, as a top general, Sengoku knew he had to maintain his composure.

"So? Hammer. Are these materials enough for a custom weapon?"

"Enough! Absolutely enough!" Hammer replied without even looking up.

Sengoku beamed, finally, success!

Until…

"BUT, don't celebrate yet, old man."

"Aside from Sakazuki's Divine Axe Rhittat, the rest are all unprocessed. Look at that Jewel Ice Sheet, I still haven't figured out a way to forge it."

"You brought lots of materials, sure. But how to combine and forge them? Still unknown. So I can't promise a delivery timeline."

And with that, Sengoku froze.

This wasn't the script he imagined!

Wasn't it supposed to go: "Materials ready + craftsman in place = weapon done"?

Why was it this complicated?!

"Hahahaha! Sengoku told you it was too good to be true!"

"I'm dying over here, cough, cough!"

Zephyr and Garp burst out laughing, mercilessly teasing their old comrade.

Zephyr laughed so hard he began coughing violently again.

Hammer quickly rushed over and supported him.

"Hey, Zephyr! You okay?!"

Everyone now looked over, concern rising as they saw Zephyr struggling to breathe and taking his medication.

"Sigh… I'm just getting old. After the fight with Whitebeard, my body hasn't been the same."

"It's asthma. The meds are for asthma."

Hammer replied with seriousness, unlike Zephyr who tried to play it off casually.

"Asthma, huh… Zephyr, you really need to take care of yourself."

Even Kong, normally stoic, couldn't hide the flash of sadness in his eyes seeing his once-strong comrade looking frail.

"Hahaha, relax. I've got meds. I'm not on the frontlines anymore, it's manageable."

"Alright then," Kong declared. "Hammer's safe and sound, so everything returns to normal."

"Sakazuki, continue patrolling the New World."

"Borsalino, head to Punk Hazard."

"Kuzan, Grand Line's first half."

"Garp, Roger Pirates."

"Hammer, stay at HQ for now."

With that, the meeting ended. Each branch of the Navy returned to normal operations.
