Chapter 298: Avoid having another baby_Part 2
Her toes curled when she felt the unmistakable heat and hardness of his arousal graze her belly, hot enough to burn through the thin barrier of cloth.
A molten ache pooled low in her stomach, settling deep in her core, making her arch against him, seeking more. When his erection brushed her again, a whimper broke from her lips. She slid her hands down from his hips, letting her fingers roam lower, and her suspicions were confirmed. Her husband was completely, gloriously naked beneath the sheets.
She instinctively moved against him, drawing a deep groan from his chest. He tore his mouth from her neck, licking away the last traces of blood before capturing her lips in a heated kiss. Speaking between the press of their mouths, his voice was low and ragged.
"You are going to be the death of me."
In one fluid motion, he pushed up her nightdress, baring her completely to him. The moment their skin met fully, his body aligned with hers, and, just as their kiss grew hotter, more urgent, he slid into her in one smooth, claiming thrust. The air was filled with their mingled moans and groans, the chamber echoing with the rhythm they set together.
He moved within her with wild, unrestrained hunger, and she met him stroke for stroke, answering his passion with her own. Their breathing quickened, their bodies trembling until the tension between them broke, and they both cried out as release consumed them in the same breath.
His weight sank against her, his chest heaving, and after a moment, he rolled to the side, still buried deep inside her, drawing her with him so they lay facing each other.
Then, as if struck by sudden realization, Belle sat up abruptly. "Angel, where—"
Rohan chuckled and caught her wrist, pulling her gently back down into the warmth of his arms. "I wouldn't have started anything if he was here, love. I handed him to Rav so he could take him to Lady Evenly. They'll work on getting to know him before you wake. He's still sleeping, though, it'll be easier if he wakes to find her there rather than here."
He assured her as he moved his hand to her face, gently tucking back the strands of hair that had fallen over her cheeks and sweeping them behind her ear. He then let his hand linger on her skin as they stared into each other's eyes. Without breaking that contact or moving his hand from her face, he stretched his other hand to the nightstand closer to him and pulled open a drawer. Belle frowned at what he was up to when he retrieved something from inside and brought it up for her to see.
Belle saw a small oval-shaped object in his hand, wrapped in brown paper. "What's that?" she asked curiously as he swiftly unwrapped it to reveal a silver-colored, candy-like piece.
"It's for you to chew. Here, have it." He brought it toward her mouth, but Belle reflexively moved back, eyeing the unfamiliar thing warily.
"Is it candy?" she asked when he chuckled at her reluctance.
"No, but it's sweet," he grinned, moving closer to whisper in her ear. "If you don't want to find yourself carrying another baby, my love, you have to chew this every time after we make love. I melted it in your tea at the cottage the last time, but thinking about it, I should have told you first. We can't afford to have another child right now." He pressed his lips to her ear, making her shudder. "The world is not safe for more of my offsprings, nor can I have you go through the pain you went through giving birth to Angel."
Belle felt her cheeks heat up. She hadn't even thought about pregnancy or ways to avoid it. Though she knew she would never mind having another child, with how much she loved Angel, the thought of the risks another baby would face, especially now that they were back in Nightbrook and because of the agreement Rohan had signed with the king, made her hesitate. Then, moving her head back slightly, she opened her mouth to accept the thing, which he placed gently on her tongue.
True to his words, it was sweet, and even before she chewed it, it began to melt on her tongue. But the aftertaste was somewhat unpleasant, making her scrunch her face. Rohan smiled at her expression, using his thumb to trace the side of her mouth.
"It doesn't taste that good afterwards," he admitted softly. "I ate one that day and wished my wife didn't have to take it. Next time, we'll melt it in tea."
Next time. Heat rushed through her entire body. "Where did you get it? I've never heard of something that prevents pregnancy," she asked curiously.
"It's a newly invented medicine, not known to everyone yet, and used among the elites who want to avoid getting their mistresses with child. It's not easy to come by, but once one gives the right amount of gold coins, you can get it," he told her with a mischievous, boyish smile. That smile made her suddenly aware of him still being inside her, and she had the urge to pull back before he could start again and make her take the unpleasant candy-like pill once more. But as if reading her mind, he remarked,
"The pill's effect will last until tomorrow. We can couple some more without you having to take it again. So relax, darling, I like being inside you. Your warmth feels delicious." He whispered into her ear, his face creasing with pleasure.
"Did you sleep well?" he repeated the question he had asked earlier, still caressing her smooth, freckled cheek. His finger trailed down to her neck, to the spot where he had bitten her, rubbing it gently as if to soothe any pain he might have caused. At the same time, he could feel himself growing thick inside her again as she clenched tightly around him.
Not wanting to lie, Belle shook her head. "No, I didn't," she whispered, and she saw his eyes narrow in concern. The thickness that had been filling her immediately pulled wetly out of her, as though he wanted to focus entirely on what had caused her not to sleep well.
"Why? What happened?"
"Nightmare happened," she whispered softly before she began to recount what the nightmare was about to him this time. Every trace of rising desire in his eyes disappeared as he listened to her, and she felt his muscles tense, this time not from lust but probably alarm.
"Do you think this also has meaning?" she asked, and his eyes turned to her before he propped himself up on one elbow so he was staring down at her.
"I will find that out once we get to Aragonia," he told her, and Belle arched her brows in question. He continued, "I plan to ask your parents a few questions that might help us understand what is causing this and come to the bottom of things. If they are your real parents, just as I am certain they are from the resemblance, they should know something, or perhaps they are hiding something that runs in the family. Things always happen for a reason, and you being different might have its reason." He said to her while still running his fingers through her hair and down her arm.
"Do you think that they might also be different, and that I inherited some gift or ability from them?" she asked quietly, looking at him. She had never seen anything strange happen in her family, nor had they ever shown any signs that anyone could travel to the land of the dead and see death. She had never even heard of such a thing, but then, perhaps they could have been hiding it?
Rohan doubted that. His own theory was different, though not far from it, but he believed he would get some clues from the Dawsons that might give them answers to why this was happening to her.
Pulling her into his arms, he hummed, "Perhaps. We are leaving tomorrow, prepare yourself for it, Isa," he whispered into her hair, knowing the long journey of traveling inside a carriage and all that came with it would be tiring, not to mention meeting her family again after such a long time.
Belle felt her heart thud at the thought that they would be leaving tomorrow, especially at the thought of meeting her family again. She didn't know what to feel about that... hence she dismissed the worry and instead melted into her husband's embrace.
"Where did you go last night?" Belle asked him as she pulled back to look at his face. He suddenly grinned and reached up his hand to pinch her nose.
"Went to deal with some pests."
