Married to the Secret Stanger

Chapter 49: It's still Early

Chapter 49: Avoiding Him at All Costs

Joanne couldn't breathe.

Her mind kept replaying Alexander's words over and over again.

"You kissed me… Begged me to help you feel better."

"Your my wife, we should start having Children."

Children.

Joanne screamed in her head.

No. No. No.

This had to be a joke.

She peeked at him again, but his expression was calm, amused, and completely unbothered.

Meanwhile, she felt like she was about to combust.

Her hands gripped the napkin on her lap as she took a slow, deep breath.

Calm down, Joanne.

"You're lying," she muttered under her breath, but even she didn't sound convinced.

Alexander smirked.

"I could have recorded it for proof," he teased, sipping his coffee.

Joanne gasped.

"You wouldn't!"

His smirk deepened.

She nearly jumped out of her seat.

She couldn't sit here any longer.

Grabbing her fork, she shoved food into her mouth, barely tasting it.

Her only goal was to finish eating as fast as possible and get away from him.

Alexander leaned back, watching her panic.

"Eat slowly," he said, a chuckle hidden in his tone. "No need to run."

Joanne ignored him.

She needed to escape.

Within minutes, she pushed back her chair and stood up abruptly.

"I-I need to get to work," she blurted out.

Alexander raised an eyebrow.

"It's still early," he pointed out.

"I have a lot to do," she said quickly, already backing away.

Alexander didn't stop her.

Instead, his voice turned lazy and amused.

"Try not to get drugged again, Mrs. King."

Joanne stumbled on her heels.

Without looking back, she hurried out of the dining room, her face burning.

Alexander smirked as he watched her flee.

This was going to be fun.
