Chapter 564: Combat Kind of Dueling
In the cave of Pankratios.
With every Martial Order member gathered in attendance, Pankratios slowly read through Kiernan's notebook.
"…"
Kiernan sat silently on his seat, tapping his finger against the stone table, and watched as Pankratios flipped through the pages.
Earlier today, he and Xerxus went through the Blue Dungeons to gather the rest of the text to the notebook.
They hadn't ventured to Yellow Dungeon and beyond just yet, but they planned to do that starting tomorrow.
"Hmm, interesting. Some things that this MR fellow wrote sound quite foreign, as if they aren't from this world.
"I need to study about those places at a later date."
Pankratios said.
Kiernan knew that he wouldn't be able to find anything, as MR wrote things about Earth in those walls—about places he visited and stuff he discovered.
He also discovered that she must've lived during the 20th century back on Earth, which was surprising, since she lived over two thousand years in here.
It meant that either the time in this place was different or the whole reincarnation thing made her jump back in the past.
It could also be that Kiernan was in the future. Two thousand years in the future. It seemed the most plausible theory at the current moment.
'She must've also kickstarted the age of steam and steel back in the Old Stone Age. Back then, they fought with arrows and bows, but their technology started advancing rapidly during the Old Stone Age.
'Things such as radios, trains, and telegraph machines were all developed during this time period. It must've been her doing.
'And the cars as well. I think we can thank her for that, as without her reincarnating back then, this world might've been completely different.'
"Thank you, Kiernan, for bringing these texts, and I hope you and Xerxus will continue doing so. This dictionary of High German will also come to great use.
"I will be making copies for everyone here, and I do have a sort of homework for everyone here to learn High German.
"It might come to use, and in public gatherings, we can communicate in High German so that no one will be able to understand what we are saying."
Pankratios said.
"Yes, sir."
Everyone echoed in unison.
"You can all talk among yourselves now."
Pankratios said, and he retreated back to his chambers to quickly copy the dictionary notebook's contents to share with everyone.
The notebook, as expected of being over two thousand years old, was also barely keeping itself together with age and wear.
Kiernan did a good job in making the notebook look very old by adding some wear and tear to the edges and pages.
Genevieve was talking with her disciple at the corner, but then they heard footsteps and saw Kiernan walk over to them.
"Young Kiernan. I hope the Paper Puppets helped."
Genevieve said.
She wasn't the type of woman to smile much. Thus, there weren't any lines on her face to indicate that she might've smiled.
She also carried herself with an aura of authority, and it was common for noble women such as herself to be seen as something more than ordinary mortals.
While living in the Gamarah Kingdom, her husband was a powerful duke who was highly respected by the people, and he was close to the ear of the Emperor.
Thus, Genevieve was left in a shadow of her husband, but that's what she preferred, as she had her own ambitions and goals to pursue.
"It did, and for my thanks, I'll give this to you."
Kiernan reached out to the inside pocket of his coat, pulled out a worn-out map, and handed it over to her.
Yara, the curly-haired disciple of Genevieve, looked over curiously.
'A treasure map? A map of an ancient kingdom? A map of Dead World?'
Her thoughts ran wild.
With a curious look, Genevieve opened the map altogether and saw many circles of various sizes scattered across the parchment.
It was a pretty overwhelming sight, as this cave currently had three Immortal Stage figures and Martial Emperors, Legends, and Kings.
"Circles? What is this?"
Yara asked.
"A Duelist Map."
Genevieve said in surprise as she recognized it somehow.
"You know it?"
Kiernan asked in surprise, as even Xerxus didn't seem to know anything about it, but also, you couldn't expect Immortals to be all-knowing either.
Genevieve nodded and tapped her slender finger against the parchment. The map changed suddenly. It soon started showing only three circles.
Everyone else disappeared.
'She can control who she can see in the map? I tried to do things like that, but I only learned how to zoom in on the map, which wasn't that useful.'
Kiernan thought in shock.
With gears running in her mind, Genevieve had already thought about countless ways she could use this map back in the Gamarah Kingdom.
While she was doing her occult, and fortune-reading things with Yara, in secret, of course, she was always in danger of being seen by her husband, and other servants.
With this map, she could see whenever her husband returned from his trips and would be able to see if any servant was getting close to her room.
It was a very useful item for her.
"Are you sure you want to give this to me?"
Genevieve asked with a serious look.
"Yes, I don't really have many uses for it, and apparently you can use the Duelist's Map better than I can."
Kiernan said.
"I've heard about the Duelist's Map before, but never came across it. My husband has some maps, which allow him to zoom in and out, as if the map were a camera.
"I've heard that there is a thing called the Duelist's Map that allows you to do the same things, and even more, but the Combat King of the Dueling, who created these maps, died a long time ago.
"I know that there are supposed to be few remaining, but to think that you were in possession of it. I really like this gift; I appreciate it."
Genevieve folded the map and put it inside her spatial ring for safekeeping, which was also one of the first times Kiernan actually saw someone have a spatial ring.
It didn't surprise him that Genevieve had one, as she was a wealthy noblewoman.
