Chapter 569: Death Apostle

After taking Aoi's temperature, Kiernan looked at the reading, and his brows creased with great worry.

It showed 40 degrees Celsius, indicating a high fever, and that wasn't all; she was also having great breathing problems.

'I need to seek Amara's help.'

Kiernan pulled out the phone, contacted Amara with great urgency, and received a healing potion from her.

She realized it was very urgent and didn't ask anything in return.

Kiernan poured the healing potion down Aoi's throat and waited for its effect to work, but her temperature didn't go down at all.

"Why the hell isn't it working?"

He shattered the potion flask against the wall, the shards scattering on the floor, and a frightening realization washed over him.

Kiernan pulled out his phone and asked Martial Order, everyone in there, about what was wrong with her.

He told them all about her symptoms, but none of them seemed to know what was going on, as it sounded like a serious fever.

However, since even the healing medicine didn't work, it meant that it was much worse than that.

"If you can hear me, Faye. I'll quickly visit the pharmacy, and hope that one is open, so please wait."

Kiernan said with a hurry, put on his raincoat, and headed into the pouring rain.

The streets were pretty flooded already, so he had to drag his feet through the water until he reached the pharmacy.

Surprisingly, it was packed with people, and everyone was asking for fever medicine.

"I-I don't have anything to give anymore. Everyone's been asking for fever medicine and for sore throats!"

The lady pharmacist said to Kiernan while she had her hands full with the pharmacy being packed with people.

'It's not just Aoi that is suffering from it? What's going on, and how come everyone is suffering from the same thing all of a sudden?'

Kiernan stepped out back into the rain, and then, one corpse floated from over the alleyway and smacked into his leg.

"Baah… Baah… Baah…"

"Eek!"

Everyone near the pharmacy screamed at the sight of the corpse, but Kiernan looked at it silently with a cold look on his face.

Kiernan pulled out his phone, recorded the corpse making out the goat's bleating sounds, and then sent the video to the Martial Order app.

[Imperio: This is…]

[Old King: You need to get the hell out of there. A death curse has been placed over Rodero, and it will just keep getting worse]

[Old King: All sorts of bizarre things will start to happen. The dead won't be truly dead. The people will get sick and die. The dead will then awaken, and more will die]

[Old King: Rodero is done for]

Kiernan grimaced and quickly typed on the phone touchscreen, which was already drenched with the rain.

[Revenant: Can you heal someone who has become sick from the death curse?]

[Old King: I haven't heard of anyone that has. You can take the person as far away as possible from the location of the death curse, which will make them temporarily better, but they will eventually die]

[Revenant: There must be something that can be done. Who placed this death curse? Can they undo it?]

[Old King: I don't know. The thing is, someone with great understanding of death magic can cast that curse from half a world away. It's impossible to track down the person]

[Imperio: Unless that person has a specific agenda against Rodero. It's also possible that the death apostle has come to the city]

[Hero Among Rulers: A member of the Einhorn family? The matriarch of that family once slept with the Death God, and she bore a child of death]

[Hero Among Rulers: Ever since that, the children of Einhorn have all been cursed, and they've become death apostles]

[Revenant: How can I find this death apostle?]

[Old King: If there really is a death apostle there, then you'll find one in the place where death gathers. Follow the trail of death, and you'll find him]

Kiernan looked silently at the phone, pocketed it, and looked upstream, where the corpses came from.

He dragged his feet through the cold, shallow water and walked past the floating corpses until he arrived at the place where the street split into four different directions.

He looked around, saw nothing, but then saw some dead plants on the windowsilland headed immediately that way.

"…"

Kiernan frowned as he approached the entrance of the Great Dungeon of Rodero, which was currently flooded.

Yet, there were corpses by the entrance, and he followed the tracks—entered the dungeon, and went past the green, blue, yellow, and red dungeons.

In the end, he came across one of the black dungeons with a dead guard sitting by the door.

It was one of the dungeons that Kiernan and Xerxus cleared a long time ago—well, Xerxus did most of the work.

Kiernan stayed at the back and let Xerxus kill all the Dungeon Dwellers.

Kiernan entered the dungeon and saw dead Dungeon Dwellers strewn across the dungeon floor, and soon, he arrived at the boss room.

The boss was already dead there, bleating like a goat, and in front of it, there was a dark-haired young man standing before a wall.

He was looking at the written text, coldly tracing his hand across it, and then he pressed a hidden button.

It was something that even Kiernan and Xerxus missed when they checked the black dungeon.

"…"

Amen picked up a small flask of red liquid. It was barely the size of a middle finger.

"Finally…"

He whispered, and at that moment, a fist came in his way, smashed into his cheek, and pummeled him to the side.

The red flask flew out of his hand, and Kiernan caught it from the air.

"…Who?"

Amen turned to Kiernan with a swollen cheek, looked at the red flask, and reached his hand to it, but then Kiernan threatened to drop it.

"One move, and I'll drop it."

Kiernan said coldly.

He noticed the black-haired young man's desire for the red flask. It was clear he came here for it. And it was something that he really wanted.

"Why are you doing this?"

Amen asked.

"You even dare to ask? How many have you killed here, huh? Remove the curse that you've placed on this city, and I'll give this to you."
