Martial Arts Worlds

Chapter 596: The Second

Meredica, the City of a Thousand Bridges, 44 Rivery Road.

"Yeah!"

Within the living room of the Reck household, cheers and the sounds of partying went off in celebration.

"You did it, brother!"

The little brother of the family excitedly shook Karmea's shoulders, and the rest of the relatives also congratulated him.

The entire lineage of Reck had gathered in this house to watch the broadcast. They couldn't be any happier.

They were now even happier than when Karmea won the youth world championship of boxing!

"Whew…"

Karmea cracked his knuckles as he looked with a serious look towards the television.

The selection draft was the easy part, now the real work was about to begin. He would only fight in one match during the tournament, but it was going to be the most important fight of his life.

Several of his relatives were feeling quite nervous.

If Karmea won his match in the tournament, the name of Reck would be put in the annals of history to be celebrated.

However, if he happened to lose, and humanity lost because of it, it would be a name associated with losing.

They—the Reck family—had been a pretty low-key family, as they had never had any decent martial arts talent come from their families.

Their most popular ancestor was their great-grandfather, who happened to create the popular car brand "Reck Motors," but that was pretty much it.

They weren't a family known for their martial arts prowess, but that changed after finally, a talent of the highest level appeared in their family.

Karmea Reck, universally recognized as the greatest boxing talent of this generation and the first in his family to achieve such fame.

'Rock and roll…'

He punched his open hand hard enough to make a loud smack, his jaw set in determination.

New Rakuya, Irio, Cloudy Street.

On the television screen, the dark-haired man changed papers and then, with a slow yet clear voice, said.

"And the second representative is…"

In the dim room, with most of the light coming from the television screen, everyone held their breath.

"Seo Donghae, born and raised in the country of Lagitech. Congratulations!"

The face of Seo Donghae appeared on the screen. Looking cold and serious. It was a face that brewed with confidence!

Kiernan's eyes sharpened.

He had a few encounters with Seo Donghae over in the selection draft, but he didn't personally talk with him, and had a feeling that he would be chosen.

"Seo Donghae… That must mean that Sun Jupiter will be chosen too. There are not many available spots left."

Julian said with a click of a tongue.

"…Sun Jupiter is not going to be chosen. In the selection draft, he was ambushed by a large group.

"That large group had like twenty people, and they were working together to make sure that they would reach the top hundred.

"To do that, they ambushed Sun Jupiter, who had among the most points in the entire rankings.

"However, it wasn't as easy a fight as they expected. Sun Jupiter fought through them and broke their skulls and bones.

"In the end, Sun Jupiter won, but he was left very badly injured, and was taken away to a hospital in a helicopter.

"I am surprised you didn't hear about that, Julian."

Kiernan said with his arms crossed.

"Oh shit… I guess I was doing a mission when that happened."

Julian said with a surprised look.

Kiernan thought it was such a shame that Sun Jupiter was ambushed like that. He thought it was a big mistake by the Human Government.

He definitely deserved a spot in the seven, and with him unable to compete, the humanity team would definitely be slightly weaker.

He also believed that if he hadn't been 'hiding' in his room ever since the fight with the Master Orochi, he would've also been ambushed like Sun Jupiter.

In that moment, some of Seo Donghae's stats appeared on the screen, just like with Karmea Reck.

[Final Ranking: 5]

[Points: 27,110]

[Style: Mixed Martial Arts]

[Martial Rank: Middle Stage Martial Grandmaster]

[Notes: The champion of Lagitech. Three-time winner of Lagitech nationals]

"Currently, those of top ranks have been selected so far."

Julian said with a dark look.

In the rankings, he was 91th, so as it looked right now, there was no way in hell that he would get chosen.

Martial World, Lagitech Country.

"Yay!"

Seo's little sister, Aera, jumped to her feet in joy and hugged her brother while their mother clapped her hands together with a small smile on her face.

With a little smile, Seo hugged his little sister and mother before heading to his room to start packing his stuff.

He then happened to look out of the window and saw that their neighbors walked over to their house, knocked on the door, and then talked briefly with his mother.

They came to congratulate.

However, some pedestrians just walked past and whispered among themselves with worried looks.

It was obvious what they were thinking.

"What if he loses? He would be dragging the name of Lagitech down to the mud!"

Seo repeated the words he expected them to be saying and just wryly smiled before stuffing his clothes inside the bag.

"It's a chance to be either hero or villain. Sure, they will be celebrating me now, but if I lose, they'll turn on me in a heartbeat."

On the walls, there were all sorts of posters of his favorite martial artists, and they all looked mighty with bulging muscles and fierce facial expressions.

"My heroes also often faced overwhelming odds, and if they lost, history would remember them in a completely different light.

"The history is written by winners.

"Since they won, they are still celebrated even to this day. I can't even imagine the amount of pressure they were under."

Seo thought out loud, felt his rapid heartbeat, and touched his chest, and he was able to feel his heartbeat pound against his chest.

It was loud and strong, like a powerful engine in a car. His anxiety began to rise.

"Or maybe I do…"
