Chapter 31: Is There Really Injured Student?
Klein's communicator buzzed.
"Something wrong?" Leon asked.
Klein's usual smirk vanished.
"A student has been injured. I have to go."
His tone was serious, no trace of his usual confidence. He turned to Leon.
"We'll continue tomorrow."
Without another word, he strode off toward the academy's medical wing.
That night, Leon lay in bed, staring at the ceiling.
The unease in his gut had only grown since Hugo's warning.
"Why was Klein so invested in their training? Why did he hate the Utopia Project so much?"
Then there was the call.
"Who got injured?"
Leon couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right.
So he made a decision.
He was going to follow Klein.
Moving carefully through the dimly lit hallways, Leon kept his distance as he tailed Klein through the academy.
Klein wasn't heading toward the medical wing.
Instead, he slipped through a side door, into a restricted area.
Leon's pulse quickened as he followed, keeping to the shadows.
Soon, Klein reached a secluded area behind the academy. He pulled out a small, hidden communicator.
Leon crouched behind a stack of supply crates, listening.
A distorted voice crackled through the device.
"Report."
Klein exhaled sharply.
"They're too weak. If we want to truly change this world, we need to erase this fake peace."
Leon's breath caught in his throat.
"What about the academy?" the voice asked.
Klein's tone darkened.
"The academy attack plan was successful ."
Leon's eyes widened.
"No way…"
It all clicked.
Klein wasn't just some passionate trainer.
He was connected to the terrorists.
The attack on the first exam wasn't random.
Klein wanted to destroy the academy.
To end the Utopia Project.
Leon's fingers curled into fists.
He had heard enough.
Stepping out of the shadows, he spoke firmly.
"You're working with them, aren't you?"
Klein froze.
Slowly, he turned to face Leon.
For a moment, there was silence.
Then Klein smiled.
But it wasn't the same friendly smile from before.
It was cold. Calculated. Dangerous.
"So… you were listening."
Leon's heart pounded.
The truth was out.
And now, he had to face the consequences.
