Chapter 83: CHAPTER 83
Thanos was grievously wounded and forced to retreat, while the Black Order and the elite of the Dark Quadrant were completely annihilated. Nidavellir's immediate threat had been neutralized, but at a steep cost—the star core was utterly destroyed. Without its power, the Dwarves of Nidavellir could no longer forge weapons of unparalleled might.
Nidavellir could not sustain itself any longer.
Under Ragna's authoritative persuasion, King Eitri of the Dwarves reluctantly gathered his kin. Together, they relocated to Ragna's dominion, near Angel Star, the celestial capital of his empire. To accommodate them, Ragna selected a neutron star whose energy far exceeded that of the former Nidavellir star core. This would serve as the Dwarves' new cosmic forge.
Their first priority: the Sun Scepter, a weapon of divine craftsmanship, personally commissioned by Ragna. Forged from Vibranium, Uru, and other compressed cosmic metals, all reduced via Pym Particles, this scepter was set to rival even Stormbreaker in sheer destructive potential. Its golden shaft tapered into a sharp bottom, while the top expanded into a hollow crown—a design not only to amplify Ragna's solar energy but also to integrate the Infinity Stones. A deliberately vacant socket at the crown's center allowed for the mounting of all six stones. Once complete, the Sun Scepter would elevate Ragna's combat prowess beyond even the most formidable Heralds of Galactus, enabling him to obliterate any fourth-tier powerhouse with ease.
While the forging process took time, Ragna wasted none.
After reassuring Eitri, he briefly visited Angel Star, then issued a galaxy-wide decree: a massive bounty for the whereabouts of Thanos. Every faction under his dominion was ordered to track the Titan. Only then did he, accompanied by Valina, return to Earth.
Earth held mysteries that resonated with his soul.
If not for its precarious location—prone to attracting enigmatic cosmic deities—Ragna might have established his capital there. However, upon his return, he encountered an unexpected issue:
Loki was missing.
The trickster god, whom Ragna had cast into an uninhabited mountain range, had vanished.
After acquiring the Mind Stone, Loki had immediately sought to dominate Midgard, an attempt swiftly thwarted by Ragna. The Asgardian prince had been allowed to live—not out of mercy, but because Ragna saw no need to kill him. Frigga's favored son posed no true threat, and in exchange for surrendering the Scepter, Loki had been promised a planet of his own to rule.
The universe was vast. Ten or twenty planets meant nothing to Ragna.
Yet now, Loki was gone.
Ragna expanded his divine perception, scanning Earth for any trace of Loki's aura—but found nothing. Frowning, he reached out to Heimdall, whose all-seeing eyes had once pierced the cosmos.
But Heimdall, busy helping Thor quell the conflicts across the Nine Realms, had not been monitoring Loki. Even a direct scan of Earth yielded no results.
Ragna's frown deepened.
Without hesitation, he teleported to Nick Fury's location—interrupting an Avengers meeting mid-session.
"The Sun God?"
Black Widow whispered, narrowing her eyes at Ragna's sudden arrival. The loss of Hawkeye had left her bitter toward him, but years of espionage experience—and the sheer disparity in power—forced her to suppress her resentment.
Phil Coulson, who had once cheated death thanks to Ragna, took a respectful step back. He was a believer, though not devout. But after witnessing the might of Ragna and his Angels, he had no doubts about their divine power.
Nick Fury and Tony Stark exchanged wary glances, while Bruce Banner quietly retreated. He wanted no part in whatever confrontation was about to unfold. Hulk did not either.
A tense silence filled the room—one shattered by the ever-righteous Captain America.
"Sun God," Steve Rogers said firmly. "You're not welcome here."
Ragna smirked.
"Oh? And here I thought I'd just saved New York—including you. Is that how you greet your savior? Your god?" His tone was mocking, but beneath it was an unspoken challenge.
Fury acted fast.
With a swift motion, he signaled Steve and Natasha to stand down and ordered Banner to leave. Captain America hesitated, glaring at Ragna, but ultimately obeyed.
Only Tony, Fury, and Coulson remained.
"Great deity," Fury said cautiously. "To what do we owe this visit?"
Ragna met his gaze.
"My cousin, Loki. He's missing. Do you know where he is?"
Tony and Coulson exchanged confused looks. Loki was missing? That was news to them.
"We didn't capture him," Fury answered truthfully. "S.H.I.E.L.D hasn't even tried."
Not that they didn't want to—after what Loki did to New York, Fury would have gladly locked him in the Raft. But the reality was, no one in S.H.I.E.L.D had the power to take Loki down. Not without incurring Ragna's wrath.
Ragna studied Fury, sensing no deception.
Yet, deep down, he didn't believe that Fury lacked suspicions.
On Earth, only a handful of forces could capture Loki without leaving a trace—and fewer still could conceal his presence from Ragna and Heimdall.
The Sorcerer Supreme, preoccupied with defending reality, had no reason to take Loki. Mephisto, if he were even present on Earth, wouldn't bother.
That left only one possibility.
The Skrulls.
Ragna had not forgotten their past transgressions—the failed attempt to capture Sif and the Warriors Three. Loki wouldn't have fared much better.
"I believe you didn't take him," Ragna said evenly. "I'm simply asking if you know where he is."
Then his voice turned colder.
"But let me be clear, Fury—you or the people you work with do not want to offend the gods."
Fury's pulse quickened. He understood the veiled threat all too well.
Though he kept a stoic facade, his mind raced. The Skrulls, his allies in the shadows, had worked with him for decades. They possessed biotechnological advancements beyond human science, but…
They were not gods.
Yet before Fury could respond, Ragna's gaze sharpened.
"What gave you the courage to lie to me?"
Fury's expression flickered.
Then, Ragna uttered something that made the seasoned spy's blood run cold.
"Was it the 'Roar Machine'?"
Fury stiffened.
How did Ragna know about that?
The Roar Machine, a contingency designed to summon Carol Danvers, was S.H.I.E.L.D's last line of defense—a failsafe against cosmic threats. A secret even many within S.H.I.E.L.D did not know.
Ragna smiled, but his golden eyes blazed with divine fire.
"Sorry, I forgot to mention something. Mortals cannot judge a god…"
His voice dropped to a whisper.
"…and they cannot deceive one either."
A spark ignited in his irises—
And in an instant, Nick Fury and the Roar Machine were reduced to ash.
Tony Stark and Phil Coulson froze in horror as Fury's remains scattered into nothingness.
For the first time, they truly understood the meaning of divine wrath.
