Chapter 244: MD-Chapter 243 The Battle with Hela!
The gunshot echoed through the void.
The woman took the first bullet head-on, her body jerking back as if hit by a heavy club. Her face twisted in rage.
By the time the second shot rang out, her hand had already reached forward. She caught the remaining two bullets in mid-air and immediately grabbed Arthur's wrist.
With a violent twist, she tried to disarm him, only to find his arm unmoved.
"Die, you insect!!!"
Now thoroughly enraged, the woman, pinned back by Arthur, continued to retreat through the air as he fired at her abdomen.
It had been countless years since anyone had inflicted such humiliation on her.
With a sudden twist of her body, she reversed their positions, forcing Arthur beneath her.
Her immense strength was anything but ordinary - neither mortal nor divine by conventional standards.
Even Thor wouldn't have been able to overpower Arthur like that, but she did it effortlessly.
She grabbed his pistol, applied a little pressure, and with a 'crack' turned it into a useless hunk of black metal.
This was exactly why Arthur had become reluctant to rely on firearms in later fights.
There were too many monsters like them. Guns might work at long range, but up close? They are worthless. Against someone strong enough, they weren't even good for self-defense. What if the enemy could manipulate space? Not even long range was safe.
With the weapon destroyed, Arthur locked eyes with the woman astride him. To his dismay, they remained in their current 'compromising' position as they flew through the air at high speed.
The woman, her expression ice-cold, said nothing but the murderous intent emanating from her was palpable. She raised her sword high and aimed it directly at Arthur's throat.
This was no sparring match - this was a real attempt to kill.
But as the blade fell, Arthur vanished.
The woman's sword pierced his form, only to find him immaterial. Her expression changed as the realization set in.
"Spatial manipulation?"
Her voice betrayed surprise.
"Good guess!" Arthur grinned.
As he spoke, his wings flared and delivered a rapid series of slashes. Enhanced by his accelerated speed, his 'Wing Slash' struck twelve times in quick succession.
The woman let out a scream of pain as she was thrown backward, her body spinning through the air.
As she fell, the sound of tearing cloth echoed ominously. Arthur's slashes had left twenty-four jagged tears of varying sizes in her clothing.
Blinking, Arthur froze for a moment, taken aback.
Across from him, the woman seemed equally stunned. Her gaze dropped to inspect her tattered clothing before rising to glare at Arthur. The killing intent in her eyes boiled over, threatening to consume him completely.
"Hey, hey, don't blame me! It's not my fault - blame the quality of your clothes!" Arthur stammered.
"Die!!!"
"Wait a second!"
Seeing her charging at him again, Arthur quickly raised a hand to stop her.
"Before we continue, I must ask you something!"
"Speak!"
"Are you Hela?"
Arthur asked cautiously. There was no one else around in this barren place, so the chances were high. But there was always the chance that he'd just fought some random person, and that would have been incredibly embarrassing.
"It is I!"
The woman confirmed in an icy tone.
She didn't wait for his reaction before she prepared to attack again.
Arthur quickly yelled, "Wait a minute!"
Hela completely ignored him and unleashed a relentless combo of blows.
Seeing the onslaught coming, Arthur immediately teleported away and quickly drew the Eye of Horus in the air. The golden symbol hovered, glowing brightly, ready to replenish its energy at a moment's notice.
Not stopping there, Arthur activated his steel-like physique and erected his 'Psychic Barrier'.
But in the chaos of their highly mobile battle, Arthur realized the barrier's limitations - it was stationary and could not follow him, making it a significant weakness.
Now that Hela's identity was confirmed, Arthur unleashed everything at his disposal.
He used every skill he had mastered, including the spatial energy manipulation he had learned from Frigga and his unique use of acceleration. His earlier twelve-fold Wing Slashes had felt like a single strike precisely because of his mastery of acceleration.
This technique had greatly increased Arthur's offensive potential.
Hela, on the other hand, was shocked by Arthur's tenacity. Despite her constant attacks, Arthur remained unyielding.
As their surroundings crumbled under the intensity of the battle, Hela's patience finally broke.
With a sharp motion, she ran her fingers through her disheveled hair. The next moment, she revealed her true form - a stunning yet intimidating woman with piercing eyes, wild crown-like horns, and an imposing figure.
Her gaze was like a razor's edge.
"Today... you die here!"
Arthur unfurled his 'Wings of the Raven God' and floated in the air. He exhaled softly, his expression curious as he looked at Hela.
"Where's your smoky eye makeup? Besides... do we really have to fight? Honestly, I feel bad saying this, but, uh... Big Sis, you're kind of exposed right now."
Hela glanced down at herself, her expression frozen with mortification.
Her eyes snapped back to Arthur, burning with anger. She gritted her teeth and growled, "You have one minute to live!"
With that, she disappeared.
Arthur scratched his head. "One minute? What does that even mean? I'd rather live 'many' minutes, thank you."
He looked up at the dark sky and spoke. "Hey, I've seen her now, right? Can I go already?"
There was no answer from the sky.
Growing impatient, Arthur called out, "Come on, All-Father! Odin! Boss! I've made her mad, and as soon as she fixes her outfit, she's going to come for me with a vengeance. Let's not even talk about our compatibility issues— she clearly wants me dead! You really don't want a dead son-in-law, do you?"
"Die!!!"
A furious roar erupted behind him.
Arthur turned to see countless blades materializing in the air, descending toward him like a storm— a spectacle straight out of the 'Thousand Sword Technique' myths.
Was she seriously trying to impale him from every angle?
In that instant, Arthur activated every defensive measure he had, ready to teleport at a moment's notice.
Yet, just as the blades were about to strike, they vanished into thin air.
At the same time, Hela, hovering mid-air, suddenly plummeted to the ground.
Her expression shifted from ferocious to bewildered, and then to fury in less than a second.
She glared skyward and screamed, "Why???"
Arthur waited, but neither the Bifrost nor Odin's intervention came.
With a sigh, he walked over to Hela.
She moved as if to strike again, but Arthur waved a hand dismissively.
"Take a break. The old man's given up. Nothing's going to change."
