Mike stood at the front desk, locked in a staring contest with the receptionist.

"Um, sir, do you know what position you're applying for?"

The receptionist asked curiously, eyeing Mike.

Mike cleared his throat and said, "Assistant."

"Ass... Assistant?!"

The receptionist looked stunned, staring at Mike like he was an idiot.

A personal assistant?

That's a personal assistant!

Who didn't know the requirements Tony Stark had for his assistants?

Beautiful women. Gorgeous women. They had to be women!

Ever since the job posting went up, only women had applied.

Not a single man had shown up for the position.

Moreover...

She glanced over Mike again.

You come to apply and didn't even bring a resume?

And nowadays, isn't the usual job application process to send your résumé via email first, and only after passing an initial review, you get invited to an interview?

So what's this guy doing here uninvited?

Is he just here to cause trouble?

Or maybe he's some obsessive Iron Man fan trying to get close to Stark?

At that thought, her expression grew cautious.

"Sir, if you want to apply, please send your résumé to our company's email. If you pass the initial screening, we'll notify you for an interview."

Mike frowned.

So troublesome… Maybe I should just call Tony.

He mulled it over.

Just then, he heard a familiar voice.

"ID badge! Wear your ID badge properly!"

"Yes, you! Your badge is crooked!"

Happy was tapping his own badge, reminding every employee who wasn't wearing theirs correctly.

Even though the task seemed trivial, as Tony Stark's personally appointed head of security, he took his new job seriously.

At that moment, a hand landed on his shoulder.

Happy's brow furrowed.

Who dares interrupt me at work?

He turned around with a scowl—

"K-Kent, Mr. Kent!"

Happy stuttered in disbelief, as if he had seen something unimaginable. "What are you doing here?"

"Happy," Mike removed his hand and said, "I need a favor."

"Anything!"

Happy responded instantly, visibly nervous.

"I'm here to apply for a job. Take me to Pepper. She's handling this, right?"

"Apply for a job?!"

Happy looked at Mike, stunned. But seeing Mike's serious expression, not at all joking, he swallowed hard and asked, "You're not here to apply for the head of security, are you?"

"No way. That job's way too much hassle."

"Phew…"

Happy sighed in relief, then asked, "So, the job you're looking for…?"

"Personal assistant."

Hiss—!

Happy audibly sucked in a breath.

"What's with that look?" Mike asked.

"N-Nothing. I was just… surprised."

Happy awkwardly rubbed his hands together. "Alright, follow me."

He knew exactly who Mike was. There was no way to reject him.

Still, he couldn't help but sneak a weird glance at Mike…

Mike raised a brow. "What's that look supposed to mean? You think I'm pulling strings?"

"N-Not at all!" Happy replied seriously. "With your qualifications, Mr. Kent, you'd definitely make it to the interview stage."

Satisfied, Mike nodded.

Happy whispered, "Actually, today's one of the scheduled interview days. Both Tony and Pepper are here."

Mike's eyebrows lifted.

Not bad. His timing was spot on.

Happy led Mike to stand outside Pepper Potts's office. The two of them waited at the door.

The interviews for the day were nearly done. Only one candidate remained.

Mike glanced at the other applicants waiting nearby.

Wow!

All women!

Each one more stunning than the last, each one wearing something shorter, tighter, or more eye-catching!

Compared to him? No contest at all.

Mike shook his head silently.

The line of beauties also took notice of Mike.

A man? Then he's clearly not competition. Nothing to worry about!

At that moment, the office door opened, and a woman stepped out.

Her face was glowing with confidence. She was almost certain she'd landed this high-paying, high-potential job—and maybe even Tony Stark himself.

Just now, she'd caught Tony sneaking glances at her several times. The look of amazement in his eyes hadn't escaped her notice.

Like a proud peacock basking in victory, she strutted to the side, opened her purse, and began touching up her makeup.

In just a few minutes, the results would be announced. All the candidates remained nearby, waiting to hear the decision.

Happy glanced at the office and said to Mike, "Mr. Kent, this way."

Inside, Pepper Potts was giving Tony a not-so-pleasant look.

Tony wore an innocent expression.

"Why are they all women? Aren't there any male applicants? Do I really have to mark the posting as 'men only'?"

Pepper grumbled.

Tony coughed lightly. "If you do that, some people will say you're sexist, and it'll cause a PR nightmare."

He paused, then looked at her sincerely.

"Pepper, you can trust me. I'm not going to mess around with any of those women. I already have you."

Pepper's heart softened.

"Of course I trust you, Tony!"

"But…"

Her tone shifted. She narrowed her eyes and glanced at Tony's crotch.

"I don't trust it, or them."

Tony: "…"

Just then, there was a knock on the door. Pepper looked confused.

Wasn't the last interview just finished?

Before she could think further, Happy pushed the door open, stepped aside for Mike to enter, and quickly shut it behind him.

Seeing Mike, both Pepper and Tony froze.

"Uncle Mike? What are you doing here?"

Tony stood up, genuinely curious.

Mike cleared his throat. "I'm here to apply—for the position of personal assistant."

"What?!"

"That's amazing!"

Pepper clapped her hands in delight. She glanced at Tony and, seeing him frantically signaling with his eyes, suddenly smiled and asked seriously,

"Mr. Kent, you're not joking, right?"

Mike scratched his head. "I'm just bored and figured I'd find something to do."

Tony's lips twitched.

You're bored, so you came to mess with me?! You, as my assistant?! Do you think I'd survive that?!

Pepper, however, beamed from ear to ear.

"Congratulations, Mr. Kent! From today forward, you're officially Tony's personal assistant."

Tony: "!"

Pepper, you traitor!

Pepper quickly stepped forward and shook Mike's hand with sincerity. "Congratulations!"

Two minutes later, outside the office, the lineup of beautiful candidates finally received their interview results.

None of them had been hired.

When they indignantly asked the staff member who had gotten the job, he gave them a strange look and said,

"It was a man."

The women exchanged baffled glances.
