Chapter 154: Chapter 150. Shopping Spree
Fifth Avenue in New York City is a renowned shopping street, where luxury and a unique atmosphere attract tourists and shoppers from all over the world. Locals also enjoy coming here to relax and have fun.
Tall buildings lining the avenue bask in the morning sun, their glass facades reflecting bright gleams. Dense crowds fill the sidewalks, and people of various nationalities can be seen here – some on sightseeing tours, others rushing to work.
"It's been a while since I've been here," Noah remarked, looking at the bustling street near the exit of the underground parking garage. It seemed like a long time since he last visited this place.
Fifth Avenue is located in Manhattan, not far from his home. A taxi ride from here would only take about fifteen minutes. Previously, when he lived in this area, he often came here with family or friends to have fun. But since receiving the system, he hadn't visited this place once.
Today, he decided to finally do so, taking Lissandra and Gwen along for a stroll and some entertainment. After his conversation with the Ancient One about the Eternals in Kamar-Taj, he didn't linger but immediately returned to the mansion, bringing a stack of books from the library. These books were prepared for Gwen. There were even more of them than those he had read himself when studying Kamar-Taj magic.
Noah was confident that after reading them, Gwen would be able to become a full-fledged Kamar-Taj sorcerer.
When he returned home and Gwen saw the stack of thick, ancient books he brought specifically for her, her gaze lost focus. She seemed to turn to stone, becoming a gray statue, and despite Noah's attempts to get her attention, she simply stood there, not reacting to his waving hand or his attempts to pinch her cheek.
So, she spent the entire next day in a depressed mood. Seeing this, Noah decided to distract her and take her to a lively place so she could temporarily forget her worries. Of course, upon returning, she would still have to go back to studying those magic books.
They had just parked in the underground garage. Since this area was usually crowded and the roads congested, traffic jams were unavoidable. Even Noah couldn't do anything about the traffic, unless he activated flight mode and soared above the city, literally rising above it all.
Today, all three of them were dressed for the season. Autumn was already past its midpoint, and the temperature had dropped noticeably. Noah, Gwen, and Lissandra wore matching hoodies, differing only in color, as if they were part of a set. Gwen had sewn them herself. She held Lissandra's arm and curiously examined the shop windows, while Noah held Lissandra's other arm.
They walked down the crowded street, attracting attention with their appearance and clothing. But this had already become commonplace for them.
Various shops lined both sides of the street. The windows were filled with exquisite treats and fashionable accessories. Street performers entertained the crowds, creating a unique atmosphere. Noah noticed many children holding balloons with images of Iron Man and the Storm Swordsman. He even wondered if Tony Stark received royalties for the use of his image.
Gwen was most interested in the clothing displays and often stopped to admire the new styles. Noah offered to buy her anything she liked, but she seemed more captivated by the clothing styles than the idea of purchasing them. Toys from the shops, however, attracted her attention more.
After strolling down the street, they had already accumulated several purchases, and Noah carried a few shopping bags. They now stopped at a small square to watch a street music band perform. Passing by, they heard the enchanting music and decided to take a closer look. Many passersby, drawn by the melody, stopped along with them.
Noah simply enjoyed the pleasant music filling the square, not delving into the specifics. He had never been a music connoisseur, but perhaps if he ever had the luck to summon champions like Sona, he would have a chance to understand this art form more deeply. Just as he was slightly bobbing his head to the rhythm of the melody, his phone suddenly vibrated.
Using the projection device in such a crowded place was inconvenient, so he had brought a regular phone with him. Seeing an incoming call, he took the phone out of his pocket and looked at the screen.
"Nick Fury? I wonder what he wants? Hmm... probably found out about Hydra," he thought, looking at the displayed name.
Indeed, it was Nick Fury on the other end. He had just returned from Russia, where, with the help of the Skrull device, he extracted memories from the Hydra members Noah had recently captured. Having confirmed with absolute certainty that there were indeed Hydra spies within S.H.I.E.L.D., he was stunned. The unexpected realization that traitors existed within his organization, and in such numbers, nearly threw him off balance.
However, he quickly pulled himself together and started thinking about how to get rid of the Hydra agents. The Skrulls had already infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D., and now Fury couldn't determine with certainty who was the enemy. The only way now was to identify those who had been in contact with the four captured Hydra agents.
But most of all, Fury wanted to find the head of this group. If he could capture their leader, maybe then there would be a way to solve the problem. But the memories of these four agents revealed that they had never seen anyone from Hydra's leadership, and his plan to capture their leader temporarily failed.
At that moment, he thought of Noah. He was the first to warn him about the moles within S.H.I.E.L.D. He had also mentioned seeing a vision of the future where he had to confront these people and was even on the verge of death. Perhaps Noah possessed some crucial information. Moreover, Fury wanted to enlist his support, because in the current situation, apart from Coulson and a few others, he wasn't sure who was truly loyal to the organization.
"Greetings, Director Fury. Has something happened?" Noah asked, answering the call.
"Noah, I found out who those people you captured were. They're Hydra agents. What you saw in the future turned out to be true."
"Hydra?" Noah feigned surprise, although he already knew about the double agents within S.H.I.E.L.D., being well-versed in the plot.
"Yes, they are very dangerous. I don't know how many of them there really are, so I need your help," Fury asked him to join the mission.
"Alright, let me know when you get back from Russia."
After that, Noah, citing urgent business, ended the conversation. Fury stared at the phone screen for a while, lost in thought. After some consideration, he decided that upon returning, he needed to gather Tony and Steve Rogers.
