Marvel: My Eyes Defies Fate.

Chapter 21: Chapter 21: The Orphanage.

The courtyard of the orphanage was deathly silent.

Every S.H.I.E.L.D. agent stood frozen, their eyes wide, their pulses tight. A chill crept down their spines as they stared at the horrifying scene before them.

Even after Kurogai had left, the Hydra soldiers he controlled had executed themselves—without hesitation.

"Hydra soldiers don't just kill themselves," one agent muttered in disbelief. "They value their lives like anyone else."

But these men had raised their pistols and pulled the trigger the moment Kurogai vanished.

The message was clear: Kurogai's control over them was absolute.

Nick Fury's expression darkened. He stared at the bloodstained ground, voice heavy with dread.

"That kid... he's only five or six years old. And yet we let him walk away."

Natasha turned to him. "But you gave the order to let him go."

Fury's jaw clenched. He didn't respond right away. His thoughts were tangled, his instincts screaming.

Kurogai's actions had been precise, ruthless. The carnage left behind was more than a massacre—it was a statement. Fury had worked alongside powerful people, even world-shaking ones. But this? This was different.

"I've seen mind control," he muttered. "Professor X... Jean Grey. But none of them did something like this—not with that kind of cold precision."

This wasn't the work of someone fighting defensively.

This was the work of someone who didn't hesitate to kill.

And the most terrifying part? Kurogai was just a child.

What would he become as he grew?

"Director, what are your orders?" an agent asked quietly, snapping Fury back into the moment.

He took a breath, grounding himself.

"Clean the scene. Contain it. No leaks, no press. And locate the rest of the children and staff—get them to safety."

Fury exhaled. "This entire site needs to be sealed. We'll relocate the orphanage to the outskirts, somewhere secure. Get it done."

"Yes, sir!"

The agents sprang into action.

Meanwhile, a half-mile away in a quiet city park, Director Mary and several orphanage staff members stirred awake, eyes fluttering open.

"Where are we...? The park?" Mary asked, confused. "I was just talking to little Asta in the kitchen... how did we get here?"

She looked around in disorientation. Children lay nearby, also unconscious—but unharmed.

Skye sat up slowly. As soon as her memories returned, her eyes reddened and tears welled up.

"Kurogai..." she whispered.

Director Mary, still unaware of what had transpired, tried to comfort her.

At that moment, a group of agents approached. At the front was a tall man with a dark coat and a bald head.

"Director Mary," Nick Fury greeted calmly. "I'm the director of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division—S.H.I.E.L.D. for short. I'm here because there are a few things we need to discuss."

With S.H.I.E.L.D.'s tracking resources, finding the displaced group hadn't been difficult. Fury had come personally—not only to explain, but to learn more about Kurogai.

He also needed to inform Mary that the orphanage could no longer be used. The damage, the blood, the trauma—it was beyond repair.

More importantly, S.H.I.E.L.D. needed to seal it for investigation.

"What happened?" Mary asked, still in shock.

Fury offered a censored summary of events—leaving out critical details, especially those involving the mind control. The full truth was too sensitive to share.

When Mary finally understood what little she was told, she was horrified.

"Where is Kurogai? Is he alright?" Skye suddenly asked, voice trembling.

Fury hesitated. But Natasha stepped forward.

"I'm sorry, sweetie," she said softly, kneeling down. "We can't give all the details… but I promise you, he's alive."

She offered a small smile, though her heart ached. She'd seen the bond between Skye and Kurogai in the files. They weren't just housemates—they were family.

But S.H.I.E.L.D. protocol was clear. This incident would now be locked under maximum classification.

Skye's eyes shimmered.

"You're hiding something," she whispered. "But that's okay. I'll find the truth myself."

She wiped her face with the back of her hand and stood tall.

In her heart, she made a silent promise: She would uncover what happened to Kurogai. No matter what it took.
