Chapter 25: CH-21 PROCESS

MAY 2, 1998

ALEX'S HOME – THIRD PERSON POV

As Mr. Anish was looking at the documents compiled in front of him, he thought,

"Auron(clone of Alex) is really helping me so much. Even though he joked around just like Alex, I still see him as a family member. Well… even though he acts like 'Alex' in front of the public and media, he changes himself after coming home. He's doing very well. He even visited Alex's parents, but he didn't feel too much about it… still, he became sad, as he has some memories of Alex—as he said."

But still… we both are waiting for Alex to come back from the thing he called 'another world'. It's still hard to comprehend the things he said—like how the future version of him helped him awaken from a brain-dead state, and through that, his powers awakened. Powers that are too many to count. And there are many more things he didn't say to me… but he just didn't want me to worry about those things.

(That was the excuse Alex gave him—how his powers awakened, and how he got access to the system space—as this was a gift given by his future self.) AN~

Well… I was still able to understand somewhat, as there are some humans with extraordinary powers, which the government calls mutants.

And mainly, the public hates them. But with a rational mind, anyone can see that those media outlets are just running their smear campaign against those poor things…

As he thought of these mind-boggling things and continued doing his work, he heard footsteps from the living room—and voices of a male and female conversing. Slightly on edge, he wondered who it could be.

"Is someone robbing us in broad daylight?" he thought, gripping the iron rod near the chimney for self-defense as he secretly moved toward the room door.

A female voice carried through, full of enthusiasm.

"I really can't wait to see what this world looks like. But first, I need something to eat. I am really hung—"As she was completing the sentence.

"Is someone there?"

The tone was quite serious and cold, a stark contrast to the cheerful voice from before.

Anish thought his plan for an ambush was busted as he held the doorknob tightly so that no one could come out to confront him.

"I don't know who you are—this is a place of civilized people. I don't want any trouble. Please… this place—I won't call the police. There is still time, you can leave," he said while gesturing toward the watch which was connected to the SPADE AI in the house to call 911.

But before he could touch the watch—

"Ah… Grandpa, no need to be afraid. I'm Alex. I have come back. You can open the door."

He heard the male voice, and as he recognized it, he suddenly opened the door—but still held the iron rod in front of him.

As he saw Alex, he let go of the rod and held him tightly, giving Alex a big hug.

"Alex! Were you okay there? Was there any problem? Did you get hurt or something?" he barraged Alex with questions, extra concerned.

"Nope, I am fine. Ah… yeah, I forgot about Shinobu. Meet Shinobu—she is from that world, and she will live with us from now on. Shinobu, he is Mr. Anish. Well… just like Ubuyashiki is a father figure to you, he is like a grandfather to me," he gestured for Anish to look at Shinobu, and for her to look at Mr. Anish.

"Well, nice to meet you, Miss Shinobu," he said while bowing slightly, as he knew which country Alex had been in and thought she was Japanese. Well… he had met many Japanese people in business meetings, so he knew their culture slightly.

"Ah, sorry, Grandpa. Earlier, I thought someone was spying on us as I sensed your presence. Well… Alex might have sensed you earlier than me, but he already knew the identity of the person. That's why he didn't say anything," she said in an apologetic tone.

"And I am not Miss... I am Mrs... I am Mrs. Jones and the fiancée of Alex," she said in a soft tone, being shy and blushing slightly.

Anish, before he could say that it was not to worry and not to be concerned about the encounter, heard "Mrs. Jones"—his mind went blank, and it felt like a galaxy was swirling in his head as he tried to figure out what he just heard… and how he should respond.

Alex, who was standing beside Shinobu, was also sweating profusely.

"Well… Grandpa, you know… things happened… I will explain it to you slowly," he said, while he ran away with Shinobu.

Anish, who was still comprehending things, was still standing—and as he saw Alex running away—

"I really want to know everything! And Alex—how could you engaged with someone?! You are only 14!" he bellowed, with some anger… and happiness.

As Alex and Shinobu were running, Shinobu also heard the voice.

"Love, are you 14? Did I engage with someone younger than Kanao?" she said, as she was hearing this for the first time.

"Well... it's half right and half false. I will explain to you both separately."

4 Hours Later

After explaining things to Mr. Anish and Shinobu about their separate concerns, they finally let go of their worries.

But there was still some unease lingering in Anish's eyes as the harem thing is quite off the topic but he didn't say anything on the face.

He also got to know about Cara and me. He chuckled and muttered, "You will have a happy life for some years… but after that, you'll know why a man can't even take care of a single one."

As for Shinobu I explain her privately, I told her that my mental age was much older than hers and that my physical age could be changed at will because of body manipulation.

Throughout all this time, I had been in my bulky figure. But now, returning to my 14-year-old, more boyish appearance, she hugged me as soon as she saw me—calling me too cute. I was still taller than her, even in this form.

With that, Cara hacked the security data of many agencies that held citizen databases. She was so advanced, the USA wouldn't even know they were hacked for another 100 years.

She created a false identity for Shinobu in many agencies like SSA, DHS, IRS, and many more—the same way she did for herself. As for physical certificate and copy she already made it with deep precision. Well, Auron wasn't included because, in public, he acts like me, so he didn't need any alternate identity records.

Still, we created one for him before departing to the Demon Slayer world—under a completely different appearance. Since he can also use body manipulation, he changed himself into a sexy macho type. Well, who wouldn't if they have body manipulation?

"So, did you get everything I said about Doom Industries?" I asked Mr. Anish, who was sipping coffee, while Shinobu and Cara were busy in the room.

Cara was teaching her some civic and public things. She already knew some English, which was taught in a virtual space. She is intelligent but needs a little work on her accent.

"Yeah, we acquired about 16.85% of the shares of Doom Industries. But still, Victor is the major shareholder—he has about 27% of the shares. However, the board has already dismissed him from management rights and the new chairman will be announced next meeting worry not I have already have other shareholder align with us."

"Hmm, I see. And what about the incident? Was there any agency or government trying to pry on that?"

The thing I was asking about was the Fantastic Four. From the case file, I saw only the Fantastic Four got some weird mutation—not Victor Doom.

But his face was disfigured from the blast in space, and his body is just stronger than the average human—not any meta powers.

Which means… this is not a good thing. If he was just the Doom of the Fantastic Four as depicted in the movie, I could take him on easily, even if he was stronger it would be a slight hassle. But now… it means he will get his power from his homeland Romania—through science and magic.

Haah… I sighed. I need to be more on guard. The battles in Demon Slayer were easy for me, but here… it would be dangerous. Thinking of Doom as a newbie villain is a mistake.

Marvel has very bad logic—villains easily comprehend their powers as they awaken them, but heroes? They need proper training and must come out of their emotional trauma first before learning to fight.

"Is there any problem, Alex?" Mr. Anish asked.

"No, Grandpa," I said, gesturing to him not to think about it.

With that, he started explaining the government's and agencies' steps toward Doom Industries.

"Well, we've tackled them for now by listing all the victims as employees of our company. But through the media, they're pressuring us for a real meeting with those four individuals. Even though Doom Industries is declining, they still have connections that are temporarily holding them back from forcefully taking those people away."

"As for the organization you called SHIELD, they've also contacted us. They want to take away the files related to those four to learn what changes have happened to them. Sorry, Alex, we can't stop them. They're an organization tied to the World Security Council. We can just hold off the U.S. government because of Doom Industries' connections, but when it comes to an organization backed by all the countries in the world, it's impossible to say no."

"And… they also wanted to meet you to share some things. As the management rights are in our favor—and will be finalized in the next board meeting—they've already voted out Victor Doom."

As all the information related to the Fantastic Four reached my ears, I began thinking of all the necessary preparations.

Even though, in the original, the Fantastic Four worked independently, they had ties with the government. So, I also want them to be allies. If things go south in the future with the government, having them as partners would help. After all, they're also meta-humans now.

"Hmm… good work, Mr. Anish. And what about Auron—where is he?" I said with a smile, genuinely impressed by all the work he had done for me.

"Well… now that you're a billionaire—and the youngest one at that, only 14 years old—he's gone to a photo shoot for a magazine. You're like a celebrity now," he said, half proud and half amused by the situation, especially since Auron didn't even want to go to the magazine shoot.

"Eh… hmm… well, it sounds right for the world to go into a frenzy about this," I muttered. "But even though I know I became a billionaire… some vultures won't let go of the piece of pie that appeared out of nowhere."

I had concerns. I was already prepared for such things… but the greed of humans? It can even swallow the abyss.

"Yes, you're right, Alex. There were many allegations against you. It also affected our ventures and acquisition business. The rumors and news about us became the first thing investment companies in Los Angeles started eying. Whenever we want to acquire something, they contact the target company before the finalization and offer a much higher amount than us.

They also track our movements in foreign trades and ventures. It was really… frustrating." Haah… Anish sighed, clearly thinking about the problems he faced.

"Some allegations were even about insider trading. They really wanted to butcher us completely. But through the support of Amazon and Google, we countered them. Even though these companies are new, they have more connections than Elita Investment. But after acquiring Doom Industries, everything has changed. Now, the pressure is much less. Going forward won't be a hard task." He smiled while saying that.

As they were talking, Shinobu and Cara came out from the room and asked Alex if they could go out for some shopping.

Image of shinobu

Seeing Shinobu dressed in jeans and a casual modern top really made Alex's day. He blinked a few times, a wide grin tugging at his lips as he took in the rare sight.

Who knew Hashira fashion could adapt so well? he thought, chuckling inwardly.

"Well, you can go whenever you want to go outside," Alex replied casually, then glanced at Shinobu. "But Shinobu, you should accompany Cara when you go out. You don't know anything related to this world right now."

"Ok, Alex. We will buy some things for you," Shinobu nodded sweetly, then reached out and held Cara's hand as the two began to walk away.

Cara gave Alex a small wave as they left, her signature smile tugging at the corner of her lips.

Shinobu, in contrast, looked fascinated by every little detail around her—as if every car, signboard, and squirrel was a rare beast from another realm.

Anish, still sipping his coffee, leaned back and said to Alex, "There's still work to be done, so I'll be in the study."

"Ok, Grandpa. And tell Auron, after he comes back, that he can change his appearance to another form now—since there won't be any traveling to another world anytime soon," I said, giving a small nod.

With that, I vanished into the system space.

SYSTEM SPACE

ALEX'S POV

Seeing the SPADE robots recycling the armor and weapons damaged in the final battle in the Demon Slayer world, I brought myself in front of the large computer screen—the one that had a ridiculous GIF wallpaper titled

"American Hood Style Breathing."

I chuckled slightly. When I first saw that wallpaper, I had laughed so hard I was literally rolling on the ground.

Genya, unfortunately, had understood the reference thanks to Cara—and ever since, he took every opportunity to fire that gun of his at me, face beet red with embarrassment.

"Kekekeke" I smirked, shaking my head at the memory.

"Hmm… let's claim the rewards. There won't be any new missions until I complete those triggered missions from the Fantastic Four storyline, so I don't have to worry about traveling again... well"

I sighed.

"Well… still—living in the world you've always loved watching is a completely different thing. I was okay in Demon Slayer because I was strong there. But here, in Marvel? I'm always on edge—as if some AU twist could drop a disaster at any moment…" complaining about he circumstances Alex first started with new template draw

I tapped the Draw button on the template section of the system, eager to know what new character I might get. Deep down, I was hoping for an Enhanced Template, but those were absurdly rare.

[Congratulations! You have drawn a new Normal Template: BATMAN – and his 3 vehicles: Batmobile, Batpod, and Batplane.]

[Assimilation – 3%]

As I saw the character and what I got with him, my eyes sparkled with fascination.

Batman…

I only idolized three superheroes across DC and Marvel—each representing something I deeply valued.

One was Hope.

One was the Knight.

And the last… Responsibility.

If I wanted to be a true hero, I'd become a combination of all three.

Hope for the innocent.

A knight to the criminals.

And responsible for my duty.

{AN: You guys KNOW who represents Hope, Knight, and Responsibility—so I don't need to say the names.}

"HAHAHA!" I burst into laughter, the excitement rushing through me. "With Batman… I can finally handle the 'hero job' properly."

Being a hero isn't just about fighting villains. It's also about saving people. Rescuing them. Protecting them. Batman has the experience for all of it. Despite being just a human among god-like beings, he stands on par with Superman.

And with his intelligence… I can easily assess what my opponent is leveraging, how far they're willing to go, what's at stake. Batman's villains aren't just evil—they're insanely creative, deeply disturbed, and terrifying in ways most heroes aren't ready for.

"And now... I get that mindset too," I muttered, eyes narrowing with resolve.

With that, I collected all the rewards.

[Reward: 12 kg Sun Nichirin Ore and 500 System Points granted.]

[Skill Acquired: Danger Sense (Active & Passive)]

[Crafting skill has been enhanced. Higher-level insights granted.]

[1,500 System Points granted.]

[10,000 System Points granted. Key of Fire granted.]

A grin tugged at my lips.

Now things were really starting to heat up.

Well, I could understand all the rewards… but I wanted to know the details too. As I touched the [DETAIL] option, a new panel resurfaced with detailed information about the things I received.

Out of everything, I only focused on two things.

[Danger Sense – Passive & Active]

A "bug" skill that seems normal at first, but becomes incredibly powerful when used right.

Passive: While in passive state, it helps you see the aura of individuals.Green aura indicates someone good.Red aura means hostile.White aura means neutral.Black aura means killing intent.(Note: Cannot be used on someone who is two power scales higher than you.)

— There is one more attribute to the passive ability:

It can counter any first surprise attack being used on you by anyone—be it god or anything else.

Active: When used actively, grants you a 1-minute state of constant super sense where you can not only dodge any attack but also see the weakness aura of your opponent.

[KEY OF FIRE]

A key given by EID8-9OA WA87HER$, a Law of Fire.*

This is a trial ground to learn the Law of Fire.

Note: Can only be accessed when the power of the host is at least Island Level (U), without the use of any artifacts or tools.

"Hmm… it really is a powerful skill," I muttered, scanning the panel. "At first, I thought it'd be something like Spider-Man's Spider-Sense—just sensing danger. But it's much more than that."

Not only can I see the hostile aura of individuals… but the best part?

The first attack—no matter who it's from—can be dodged.

That's not a skill—that's a cheat code.

As for this Key and the fact that some of its info was hidden… that must mean it's a really powerful item.

Even the LOHP Golden Page—which can seal a multiverse-level opponent—had all its information fully displayed. But this key?

Its vagueness alone tells me how insane its value is.

"And the Law of Fire... Am I in some kind of Wuxia novel ?" I muttered, blinking at the system screen.

If this was a novel, and I was the main character, then...

"Is my author Chinese?" I thought for a second, chuckling. But I haven't glorified anything yet… and I'm definitely not racist, so I guess not.

And certainly, in the Demon Slayer world, I was in Japan—which I clearly named as such. I wasn't calling it "a certain island country" like those overly vague chinanumbah1 novels love to do.

I let out a soft laugh, shaking my head. This life really was starting to feel like some multiverse-themed, genre-jumping novel.

DOOM INDUSTRIES – WAREHOUSE

THIRD PERSON POV

Walking down the corridor and approaching a glass door, Alex could hear a group of people arguing with each other.

"Reed, I really want to know—can you fix me? I don't want Debbie to see me in this monstrous form," Ben said with slight desperation and anger in his voice.

Even though he didn't want to blame his friend, the fate he was facing now… it was too much to bear alone. And if even Debbie—the woman he loved—left him, he might be devastated beyond repair.

"I… I may have a solution," Reed replied with slight tone uncertainty. "If we can decode the influence that acted on our DNA and mutated us… we may be able to turn ourselves back into humans again." His voice, however, was filled with uncertainty.

It was the first time he had ever encountered something like this.

As the conversation went on, Alex—who had heard everything—began thinking seriously.

If I help them now, he thought, they might never become the Fantastic Four.

They need a push—a moment—to realize their powers can save lives. I can't force them if they don't want it… but still, I'll try.

As for Ben's problem… I already have a solution. One that not only lets him retain his powers but also live a normal life too.

The glass door slid open. Alex entered, his steps calm but assured. Walking beside him was Cara—his assistant in name but an elite AI in reality.

"Hello, guys. My name is Alex Jones. Well… you can also think of me as the new chairman of Doom Industries."

As he introduced himself, all four of them—Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben—stared, baffled.

A young boy, no older than thirteen or fourteen, had just casually introduced himself as the chairman.

Being 14 and a chairman would be almost impossible anywhere else—but in the U.S., it was technically doable if someone had the right backing. Doom Industries was public, yes—but its shares hadn't been bought by Alex personally.

They were acquired by Elita Investment, a private LLC company. And Alex had no intention of making it public, because by doing so it not only would reduce taxes, but it also avoided the issue of getting ousted like Doom had—just two hours ago.

"What about Victor? Isn't he the major shareholder in the company?" Sue asked, narrowing her eyes. She worked here, after all.

"The board has decided to take away Victor's management rights. He was the main reason behind the company's downfall," Alex replied with a half-smile.

As he said that, he took a moment to glance at Sue Storm. Seeing her in person was breathtaking. She looked like someone in her early twenties, with a few similarities to actress Jessica Alba—but more beautiful, by far.

The same could be said for Reed and Johnny. Well, Johnny wasn't Chris Evans, but he looked remarkably similar to a young Matt Damon.

Some alternate universe work going on here, Alex thought. I definitely think Captain might look like Chris Evans in this world too.

Sue, upon hearing Victor's name, felt a pang of sadness. Victor had been her boyfriend. He was the first to come see her after the mission.

But after an argument… his emotions weren't the same anymore. Maybe he believed she wouldn't love him now that he was disfigured because of the space incident.

Alex, knowing full well the complicated triangle between Sue, Reed, and Victor, didn't say anything more. He had no intention of getting entangled in that mess.

"Well, what about us?" Johnny spoke up with a half-joking, half-serious tone. "Are we gonna live like lab rats for the rest of our lives?"

All four of them turned to look at the boy.

"Hmm… I can help you with what you've encountered. But first… you'll need this," Alex said.

Cara, who had been silent the entire time, stepped forward and opened a suitcase. Inside were four neatly woven uniforms—specially designed with nano-tech and unstable molecules.

Image

As the four eyed the uniforms curiously, Reed was the first one to get up and approach them. He picked up the one labeled with his name and examined it with wide-eyed fascination, like a kid discovering his favorite toy.

"What kind of material did you use to build this?" Reed asked, his voice filled with excitement and curiosity.

"These uniforms are built from a new material I discovered. It's called unstable molecule. The light armor on the uniform is made with nano-tech, designed by me with plasma tech," Alex explained.

Yeah, I used plasma tech on the nanobots. No way I'm wasting Vibranium on these suits—especially since my stock is already depleted.

"Unstable molecule?" Susan asked, even as she secretly wondered how she'd look in the outfit. No matter the situation—women still wanted to look sexy and beautiful.

"Yeah," Alex replied. "Unstable molecules are different from regular ones. They can adapt to any state and sync with changes in the body. They're highly flexible and can evolve with mutation or power projection."

As they talked, Johnny—without a shred of shame—dressed right in front of everyone and activated his powers.

"Wow…" Heat surged in the air.

Johnny, who had been human moments ago, now stood engulfed in flame. His entire body sparkled with fire—but after a 3 seconds, the flames flickered and faded.

He wasn't fully in control yet and the power was not that hot but still the nearby equipment slightly melt he was far away from us.

He was the only one who had made some progress. Mainly because he was carefree enough to try.

"Even though we can wear these… what about me? I'll still look like this," Ben said with frustration. He sat down on a bed—but not his reinforced one. He had accidentally sat on Johnny's.

The moment he did, the bed collapsed under his weight. The frame cracked from his waist down, and he tumbled to the floor with a loud thud.

He tried to get up. Failed. Tried again. Failed. After the third attempt, he finally managed to rise, clearly embarrassed.

Without a word, he shuffled over to his actual bed and lay down, ignoring the uniform Alex had brought.

"Hey! You!" Johnny yelled, frustrated. "You just brought a damn landslide down on my bed! Who's gonna compensate me for that?!"

"I don't want to hear that joke again, Johnny. I'm already frustrated enough here," Ben muttered, turning his face away.

Alex stepped forward, his voice calm but carrying something hopeful.

"Well… as for Ben—I've been researching things so it won't be a prolem for him to have a normal body temporarily. One that can help him turn back to his human form."
