Marvel: Start As A Genius Magician In Asgard

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Learning Magic In Asgard

The Nine Realms, Asgard

The legendary kingdom of the gods, where the Aesir Protoss reside.

A mysterious place where magic and technology coexist.

For tens of thousands of years, under the leadership of the former God-King Bor and the current God-King Odin, Asgard conquered the dwarf tribes, waged wars against the Dark Elves, Vanir Protoss, Frost Giants, and Fire Giants, and achieved glorious victories.

A thousand years ago, Asgard firmly established its nominal dominance over the Nine Realms.

To this day, Odin reigns as the first overlord of the Nine Realms, his name synonymous with power and fear.

After securing dominance over the Nine Realms, the Aesir gods ceased their outward expansion, ushering in a prolonged era of peace.

...

Asgard School of Magic

Although the Aesir Protoss have a long history of using magic, and magic is now integrated into every aspect of daily life, the Aesir are far less enthusiastic about magic than they are about hammers, axes, and spears.

This phenomenon is evident in the recent recruitment of magic students.

In the spacious classroom, only a handful of students are seated, scattered across the room. Among them, there is only one male student.

As the sole male in the classroom, Aaron suddenly understood why Loki seemed so out of place, even somewhat feminine compared to Thor and the three warriors of Asgard.

The magic apprentices in the classroom were overwhelmingly female, creating an atmosphere that felt unbalanced and, to Aaron, uncomfortably soft.

Watching the women whispering in small groups, Aaron's mouth twitched slightly. He was not in a good mood.

What had he just overheard?

Those women were speculating whether he had chosen magic because he was afraid of warrior training.

Warrior training is mandatory for every Asgardian, encompassing strength enhancement and combat skills. Only by completing this training can one become an honorable Asgardian soldier. Those who fail are relegated to the status of ordinary civilians, deemed weak and unworthy.

Choosing to practice magic is an alternative path, but it is far less respected.

Currently, Asgardian culture glorifies raw, hand-to-hand combat prowess.

A "real man" is expected to undergo warrior training, become a skilled warrior, and wield a blade to vanquish enemies.

Magic, on the other hand, has been relegated to a secondary role, primarily used for enchantments and support.

Often, only those who lack the qualifications to become warriors turn to magic.

It can be said that whether male or female, if given the opportunity to become a warrior, no one would willingly choose to become a magician.

There are two main reasons for this:

First, magic is difficult to master. The time required to learn a single spell could be spent completing warrior training and entering the battlefield sooner.

Second, some magicians in the past abused their powers, causing significant harm and tarnishing the reputation of magic.

As a result, magicians are far less respected than warriors in Asgardian society.

However, this does not deter Aaron from pursuing magic.

As a time traveler, Aaron is determined to seize every opportunity to strengthen himself.

Reflecting on his circumstances, Aaron felt a weight in his heart.

He was fortunate. After arriving in the Marvel universe, he was not reborn as an ordinary human but as an Asgardian, with a body three times denser than that of an Earthling. At the very least, he possessed some degree of self-defense capability.

But this blessing was also a curse.

While Asgard currently shines with unparalleled brilliance and stands as one of the galaxy's greatest superpowers, its glory is fleeting.

Soon, Odin's death will shatter Asgard's facade of invincibility.

When that time comes, Aaron's primary concern will be surviving Hela's initial massacre, evading Surtur's apocalyptic sword, navigating the chaos of Thanos' assault, and eventually finding refuge on Earth.

But even that is not the end.

Far from it.

Even if Aaron miraculously survives these trials, he must still face the 50% chance of being erased by Thanos' snap.

And then comes the so-called "God Butcher."

Aaron realizes that being an Asgardian might not be such a blessing after all.

The threats are too numerous, and death lurks around every corner.

At present, completing warrior training would only elevate him to the level of Asgard's three warriors, characters who were effortlessly defeated by Hela.

Even if he ventured to other planets, survival would be precarious.

If he were to make significant contributions and prove his loyalty, he might earn Odin's blessing, elevating his strength to that of the former Valkyries.

Or, like Heimdall, he might gain access to forbidden magic, allowing him to hold his own for a brief moment in the battles to come.

But only for a moment.

If Aaron truly wants to thrive, he must find another way.

One viable path is to master magic.

Asgardian magic is far from weak.

It is highly technical and versatile, suitable for both combat and escape.

This is why Aaron has chosen to enroll in the Magic Academy.

While the whispers of the women in the classroom are bothersome, Aaron remains focused on his goal: to learn the spells that will give him a strategic advantage in the trials ahead.

---

At that moment, a woman in an ornate robe entered the room. She stepped onto the podium, surveyed the class with a sharp gaze, and spoke in a firm, confident tone.

"My name is Irene. I will be your magic instructor, specializing in illusion magic."

"In my class, I expect your undivided attention. If you fail to focus, I will subject you to the endless darkness and bone-chilling cold of Hel!"

With a snap of her fingers, the classroom transformed into a desolate, fog-shrouded wasteland. A cold wind swept through, sending shivers down everyone's spines.

This was magic?

Aaron's eyes widened in awe. He now realized that Asgardian magic was far more potent than it appeared in the movies.

While the films downplayed Asgard's magical prowess—even reducing Loki, the so-called "greatest sorcerer of the Nine Realms," to a pawn in Doctor Strange's schemes, this was merely a narrative choice.

To underestimate Asgardian magic based on cinematic portrayals would be a grave mistake.

...

The illusion of Hades did not last long.

The immersive darkness left many students feeling disoriented and vulnerable. Seeing the terrified and solemn expressions on their faces, Irene nodded in satisfaction before dispelling the phantom magic.

The demonstration had its intended effect.

From now on, the students might take their studies more seriously.

Irene hoped they would no longer envy the warriors.

When she entered the classroom, Irene had already used magic to overhear the students' conversations.

This was a recurring issue that every magic professor had faced in the past.

As a magic instructor, Irene did not want her students to learn magic while secretly longing to be warriors.

In her opinion, magicians were no less valuable than warriors. Had they not noticed that many of Asgard's queens were renowned witches before their marriages?

Even Prince Loki, the second son of Odin, was an exceptional magician.

Now, he fought alongside mighty warriors like Thor.

Magicians should take pride in their identity.

Only by embracing their role could they focus on mastering magic and carve out their own path in the future.

Irene's use of magic to deliver a stern warning was meant to showcase the power of magic.

Her approach was successful.

The illusion of Hades had truly shaken the students.

For the time being, they set aside their dreams of becoming warriors and turned their attention to learning magic.

Among them, Irene noticed Aaron, whose eyes seemed to shine with excitement.

She was particularly pleased by his eager expression.

Yes, this was the attitude of a true magician's apprentice!

Only with a genuine thirst for magical knowledge could one achieve greatness.

Unconsciously, Irene found herself paying more attention to Aaron.

Part of it was due to him being the only male in the class.

It was not easy for a strong Asgardian man to pursue magic, especially when facing the judgmental eyes of others.

As these thoughts crossed her mind, Irene began her first lesson.

"Magic energy is a unique force that permeates all of Asgard."

"However, this does not mean it is easy to master. In fact, it is quite challenging. Even Asgardians, blessed by the All-Father, can only harness this energy after years of dedicated practice, growing stronger bit by bit."

"Accumulating magical energy reserves takes time. As the years pass, our power grows, far surpassing the brute strength of warriors."

As she spoke, Irene allowed herself a smug smile.

A skilled magician, adept at wielding magic, could defeat multiple warriors in combat.

Even the elite guards of the Golden Hall could not match a proficient magician in equal numbers.

While some students seemed skeptical of this claim, Aaron did not doubt it for a moment.

The Asgardian Protoss possessed a unique trait: as they aged, their divine power continued to grow.

In a sense, they grew stronger and stronger until their bodies reached a critical point of decline.

Of course, this was largely limited to the royal family. Ordinary Asgardians did not enjoy such a privilege.

They relied solely on their racial advantages, striving to unlock the full potential of their bodies, which were several times denser than those of humans on Earth.

Even after thousands of years, once they had fully tapped into their physical strength, the only area left for improvement was their combat skills.

But magicians were different.

A magician needed to accumulate magical energy. The greater their reserves, the more powerful they became.

The most striking example was Loki.

The young Loki and the older Loki from a certain universe were worlds apart in terms of strength.

The former knew many spells but often relied on daggers, using magic more for trickery than combat.

The latter, after thousands of years of accumulation, could single-handedly create an energy construct of all Asgard.

It was no exaggeration to say that this feat made him the greatest magician in the Nine Realms.

This power came from his own magical energy reserves, not borrowed from other sources like the magicians of Kamar-Taj.

Of course, Loki was no ordinary magician. Though not a member of the Aesir royal family, he possessed the bloodline of the Frost Giant king, granting him far greater potential than the average magician.

Aaron did not expect to reach such heights. He simply wanted to grow as strong as possible to increase his chances of survival in the future.

Even if he fled to another planet to avoid the coming disasters, he wanted to ensure he would not be easily overpowered.

"Now, I will teach you the first step in learning magic: perceiving magical energy."

"This is the most effective method of accumulating magical energy, refined through thousands of years of practice by countless magicians."

Irene began to explain the process of gathering and storing magical energy.

This technique, which involved absorbing external energy and converting it into one's own magical reserves, did not have an official name.

Aaron privately referred to it as meditation.

He focused intently, following Irene's instructions to perceive the energy around him.

At that moment, a cold voice echoed in his mind.

[You have diligently practiced the Asgardian Meditation Technique. Your magical energy reserves have increased slightly, and your proficiency in the Meditation Technique has improved by +1.]

Before Aaron could fully process this, he felt a surge of magical energy flow through his body.

With just a thought, he realized he could control this energy at will.

Was this magical energy?
