Marvel: Starting as a Time Criminal, Stealing Powers

Chapter 38: 038 Golden Entry-Thor!!!

Thunder in the Spiritual Realm?

Cassandra looked up at the dome, as if her gaze could pierce through and see what was happening outside.

But she failed.

The pressure that once shattered the minds of others had vanished, and her vision was now blocked.

She lowered her head and looked at the man in front of her, replaying his earlier words in her mind.

"You're waiting for me?"

Cassandra raised an eyebrow, an intrigued look on her face.

"Interesting. So, you let me in on purpose?"

The panic on Russell's face was gone—completely at odds with the chaos in the real world outside.

He looked calmly at the madwoman before him and spoke solemnly:

"You made a mistake."

Cassandra nearly burst out laughing. She spread her arms wide and gestured around at the holy place.

"Are you talking about here?"

"I can feel my power being suppressed, sure... but you're far too confident."

Russell shook his head.

"While it's true this is the grave I prepared for you, that's not what I meant."

Cassandra was genuinely puzzled this time.

"I think my plan has gone quite well. The only surprise was that old Loki could resist me."

"But that doesn't matter. The moment we met, your fate was sealed."

Russell shook his head again.

"It wasn't him either... it was last night."

"Last night?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

Russell narrowed his eyes, and in the shadows, something seemed to stir behind them.

"I came looking for the old man, but Loki wasn't my only goal. Last night... you showed me the way."

Cassandra squinted slightly, as if realizing something.

"There's... something else down there?"

"Yes."

Russell slowly raised his head. Unnoticed, his eyes had turned a glowing electric blue. Thunder crackled within them.

Boom!

Time rewinds to last night.

Amidst the flames, Russell waited in silence.

This cave wasn't just where he hoped to find old Loki.

In fact, its importance rivaled the illusion magic itself.

Because—

Besides the various Loki variants, there was someone else here.

No, not someone—

A god.

Thor.

In the Loki series footage, a glass jar was shown buried in the soil of the cave passage.

Inside it—Thor, in the form of a frog wearing his armor, trapped within!

But that wasn't really a frog.

It was Thor Odinson, transformed by one of the Lokis through a curse!

All his divine power had been sealed away, and even a simple glass jar was enough to trap him.

When the jar shattered, the frog's charred body instantly began to transform.

But—

He didn't die.

The curse was broken.

And his power was returning!

Inside the flames, crimson flesh tore free from the charred frog-like body, growing rapidly.

Then came a terrifying roar:

"LOKI!!"

"This time, I will wipe out your entire bloodline, enslave your souls in the underworld! Jotunheim will fall into eternal darkness and become nothing but history!"

"All Nine Realms will be mine! KILL! I'LL KILL YOU ALL!!!"

Puff!

"Sorry."

"I broke your curse, but not so you could go on a rampage."

Within the inferno—

Russell held the flaming holy sword and plunged it straight into Thor's heart, while he was still reforming!

If it had been a regular weapon, this would have been impossible.

But this sword was a powerful magical artifact gifted by the Vishanti—even a fully-powered Thor would fear its edge.

The furious voice fell silent.

Thor—his powers not yet fully restored—was instantly killed.

He didn't even know who struck him down.

The plan had worked.

Russell finally let out a breath of relief.

Though it had only taken a dozen seconds from releasing the flames to slaying Thor...

He'd be lying if he said he wasn't nervous.

This was Thor, after all!

Thankfully, the god had been cursed for who knows how many years. His powers were slow to return, and his senses—still adapting back from the frog form—were dull.

He hadn't even realized anyone else was hidden within the thousands-degree inferno.

Russell had made the right gamble.

And high risk brings high reward!

At that moment, the system's voice echoed:

[Plunder complete.]

[Aesir God Bloodline – Royal Family – High Level (Gold)]

This bloodline is favored by the World Tree and has the potential to awaken divine power.

Greatly enhances physical fitness.

Note: Extremis upper limit increased. Flame-blood control upper limit increased. Max temperature: 6000°C.

Warning: The Aesir bloodline is being watched by the Ancient God of Shadows. Load with caution!

Russell's expression darkened.

The Ancient Shadow God...

Wasn't that the true instigator behind Ragnarök?

He didn't expect that in this alternate timeline, Frog Thor was connected to such a terrifying being.

No—perhaps that wasn't all!

Russell narrowed his eyes, and a realization struck him.

In the sacred timeline, Odin had allowed Hela to escape and return to Asgard.

Which ultimately led to Surtur destroying the realm and triggering Ragnarök.

But—

Odin could have stopped it all.

He could've destroyed Surtur early and sealed his head in some corner of the universe.

He could've never kept the Eternal Flame in the vault.

He could've killed Hela long ago.

If any one of those three hadn't happened, Ragnarök wouldn't have occurred.

It was almost like Odin deliberately let it all unfold.

Though Asgard was destroyed, the Aesir bloodline survived—and re-rooted in Midgard (Earth).

Sure, it sounds like a conspiracy theory...

But this is the Marvel Universe. If you're naive, you won't survive two episodes.

Russell rubbed his temples and muttered:

"I hope I'm just overthinking it..."

Thoughts passed in an instant, and the system's voice spoke again:

[Thor – Divine Power (Gold)]

The divine power from Thor Odinson. Grants command over thunder and lightning.

Not yet fully awakened.

Note: Can continue growing.

Warning: This entry is soul-bound. If the soul's strength is insufficient, it will be destroyed by divine thunder. Load with caution.

[Would you like to load this entry?]

Russell was genuinely grateful for Khonshu's earlier "gift." Without it, he might not even be qualified to touch this power.

The next second, Russell decisively loaded both entries!

As for the gaze of the Ancient Shadow God?

It was no different from being hunted by the Inheritors after acquiring the Spider Totem.

You don't throw away power just because of fear.

Strength—is everything.

And when the time comes... who eats who is still undecided!

BOOM!!

BOOM!!

Thunder descended.

Divine power exploded.

In Cassandra's stunned eyes—

The Soul Hall had become the Temple of Thor!
