Marvel: Starting as a Time Criminal, Stealing Powers

Chapter 40: 040 Three Seconds To Kill You!!!

There are gods in this world.

Then there must be divine punishment.

The devastating lightning engulfed all the hideous baby-like creatures that had split off!

They shrieked in agony, charred in the sea of thunder, and then shattered completely!

Did they win?

No.

There was no notification from the system about plundering any traits!

Russell turned around suddenly—and saw an almost transparent shadow appear exactly where Cassandra had first split apart!

That wasn't an illusion!

Russell immediately understood.

The moment Cassandra entered the spiritual world, she had split herself!

She never fully recovered.

And when she sensed the presence of Thor's power and the Mind Palace, she knew she had lost!

So...

The Cassandra within the original spiritual barrier was real!

The baby-like Cassandra that appeared afterward was also real!

All her actions had been leading up to one goal: to open the sanctum!

She wanted to extract half of her spiritual body and flee!

Because she knew she couldn't win here!

Russell scoffed coldly, staring at the fading phantom without fear in his eyes.

"You've only got half your strength left. So what if you return to reality?"

"I've already won this battle."

Real World

The elderly Loki was still lying on the ground.

Watching the deranged woman plunging her hand into Loki's head, he struggled to rise.

Most Lokis in the Void were trash. Meeting one with a good heart was rare. He didn't want this one to die because of him.

He gritted his teeth, and green magic flickered in his palm.

But just as he prepared to attack, he suddenly felt a very familiar pressure.

And in the next moment—fine bolts of lightning surged from "Loki."

"Brother!" he blurted out, his eyes full of shock.

No mistake.

That was Thor's power!

President Loki, who had been playing dead on the ground, also sensed this aura and instinctively looked back.

And then he saw a scene that made his scalp go numb.

The fear rooted in bloodlines erupted from the "Loki" he'd already deemed doomed!

Blinding lightning swallowed the bald woman in an instant!

She screamed as her charred body was pulled back by an unseen force and hurled to the edge of the rooftop.

It seemed like over ten minutes had passed in the spiritual world—but in reality, only a single second had gone by!

President Loki was nearly scared to death, shaking uncontrollably.

"Thor! You're Thor!"

"Oh no... no, brother, I was wrong!"

He fell to his knees again without hesitation.

You know me—I was just scared earlier! I definitely wasn't planning to betray you!

This time, a flash of green light appeared, and Russell revealed his true face.

He gave the trembling Loki a glance—nearly scaring him into unconsciousness—then turned to the charred body and said:

"It's over, Cassandra."

"There's no difference between the mind and reality now. You lost."

Even without the suppression of the Mind Palace, when it comes to spiritual power, a fragmented soul is nothing compared to a complete one.

"Hehe... hahaha..."

The charred corpse began shedding its skin, revealing rapidly regenerating flesh underneath.

Cassandra slowly raised her head. Her twisted smile was as terrifying as the Red Skull's.

"I knew I couldn't kill you with just half my power."

"But... this is the Void, baby."

"I'm not alone."

As she spoke, her newly regenerated eyes turned completely white—pupils gone—as if she were communing with something else.

Old Loki sensed something and turned his head sharply.

The horizon had turned pitch-black without anyone noticing, with scarlet lightning writhing across it.

"Alioth," he muttered grimly.

President Loki was nearly in tears.

He wanted to run—but he didn't dare.

In his eyes, Russell was Thor—far more terrifying than the monster approaching.

By now, Cassandra had risen to her feet. She tilted her head and reached out to the left.

Suddenly, a flash of green light—Old Loki was lifted into the air by his throat!

She grinned malevolently.

"You recovered fast. But do you really think a mere illusion spell can—"

Slash!

A magma-like blood blade flashed past and severed her arm!

"Did you think I wasn't here?"

Russell's eyes glowed blue as he rescued Old Loki!

The darkened sky grew even heavier, and a lightning bolt as thick as a tree trunk crashed down!

Cassandra's body was yanked upward like a puppet, suspended midair as thunder exploded all around her!

Russell wasn't interested in a drawn-out fight—he quickly conjured a portal with the Sling Ring to escape with Old Loki!

But the golden spark vanished the moment it appeared!

The portal spell had been disrupted!

Cassandra's crazed laughter echoed around them as she raised her remaining hand.

On her finger was a Sling Ring embedded with the Reality Stone, glowing red.

"Too bad. My Sling Ring's higher-level. I can shut your little doorway."

Russell looked into the distance—Alioth was moving faster than expected and would be here in under ten seconds.

He drew in a sharp breath.

He knew: if he didn't stop Cassandra now, even if he escaped, Old Loki would definitely die!

His eyes turned cold and resolute.

"I gave you a chance to leave," he said. "You refused."

"Now—three seconds. I'll kill you."

Cassandra wasn't afraid. Her expression twisted with malice.

"You're confident. But why would I fight you head-on?"

"All I have to do is stall."

"As long as the beast arrives... you lose!"

Russell didn't waste time arguing. Thor's divine power erupted from him as storm-forged armor enveloped his body, like time itself reversing!

The building shook violently as he became a streak of lightning, shooting toward Cassandra!

She had no intention of fighting back.

Using telekinesis, she moved her body to the right, easily dodging the attack!

"You think you can catch me?"

Russell hadn't expected to hit her head-on—nor did he need to use Siren's sonic propulsion to redirect his flight.

He had only one objective—

Close the distance.

BOOM!

As he passed her, searing red flames exploded from his body!

It was like a miniature sun had risen over the battlefield.

The flames surged out violently, engulfing the smiling Cassandra in an instant.
