Marvel : The great sage

Chapter 14: Chapter 14: First Strike Against Hydra

Undisclosed Allied Base – 1944

The air inside the war tent was thick with tension. Maps, intel reports, and Hydra blueprints were spread across a long table, illuminated by flickering oil lamps.

Colonel Phillips stood at the head of the table, arms crossed. His gaze moved over Steve, Alex, and the Howling Commandos, all assembled and ready for their next mission.

"This isn't just another raid," Phillips began. "We've located a high-priority Hydra weapons facility deep in the Bavarian Alps. Intel suggests they're developing a new line of advanced weaponry powered by that damned Tesseract energy." He tapped the map. "Your job is simple: destroy everything."

Steve nodded. "Do we have schematics of the facility?"

Howard Stark, seated nearby, adjusted his tie and leaned forward. "Not exactly, but we do have reconnaissance photos." He slid over a few grainy images. Hydra scientists, soldiers, and heavy artillery were visible. "It's fortified—turrets, trenches, electrified fences, and most importantly, Schmidt's latest prototypes."

Alex studied the photos, his fingers tapping the table. "Great Sage, analyze possible infiltration routes."

A familiar voice echoed in his mind.

⌈ Processing… Probability of success based on available intel: 62%. Adjusting for enemy presence… Revised probability: 48%. ⌋

Alex frowned slightly. "It's a death trap if we go in blind."

"Which is why you're not," Phillips interjected. "We have a paratrooper squad dropping in from the north as a distraction. Once the guards are occupied, you and your team infiltrate from the south and plant explosives inside."

Dum Dum Dugan smirked, adjusting his hat. "Sounds like a fun night."

Bucky Barnes grinned, slinging his rifle over his shoulder. "Let's hope it doesn't turn into our last one."

Mission Start: The Bavarian Alps

Midnight.

Snow crunched beneath their boots as the Howling Commandos advanced through the dense forest. The facility loomed in the distance, its watchtowers casting long shadows under the full moon.

From the ridge, Steve signaled for a halt. "Everyone in position?"

Alex crouched beside him, scanning the area with a calculated gaze. "Great Sage, assess enemy patrol patterns."

⌈ Detecting twelve guards rotating in two-minute intervals. Optimal entry window: 18 seconds after the patrol shifts. ⌋

He smirked. "We have a small window. Follow my lead."

Steve nodded, then whispered, "Dugan, Gabe, take the left flank. Bucky, Morita, you're with me on the right. Alex, you and Jones handle the gate."

A sharp whistle in the distance signaled the paratrooper squad's distraction. Gunfire erupted from the northern perimeter.

The Hydra guards turned in alarm.

"Move!" Steve commanded.

Alex and Jones sprinted towards the entrance, staying low.

Alex drew a knife, closing in on the first sentry. Before the man could react, Alex's blade slashed across his throat in a silent, efficient kill. Jones disabled the security panel, and the gate clicked open.

They were in.

Inside the Facility

The Hydra base was eerily quiet—dimly lit corridors lined with labs, storage units, and heavily armored doors. The faint hum of machinery echoed in the distance.

"Alright," Steve whispered. "We plant the charges and get out. No unnecessary risks."

Alex smirked. "No promises."

They split into pairs. Alex and Bucky moved toward the main power generator, a massive energy coil pulsating with blue light.

"This thing looks like something out of a nightmare," Bucky muttered.

Alex placed a timed explosive on the base of the generator, setting the countdown to three minutes.

⌈ Probability of explosion disabling the facility: 87%. ⌋

"That should do it."

Just then—an alarm blared.

"Looks like they know we're here," Alex muttered.

Hydra soldiers poured into the corridors, rifles raised.

Steve's voice crackled over the comm. "We're compromised. Everyone regroup at the exit!"

Alex and Bucky ducked behind cover as bullets ricocheted off the walls.

"Buck, take the left!" Alex barked.

Bucky fired off three precise shots, dropping the nearest soldiers.

Alex surged forward, using his enhanced reflexes to weave between enemies. His knife flashed in the dim light, cutting down Hydra troops before they could react.

⌈ Enemy reinforcements arriving in 30 seconds. ⌋

"Move!" Alex shouted.

The team fought their way back to the exit, grenades and gunfire lighting up the dark corridors.

Steve, leading from the front, hurled his shield, knocking out two Hydra agents. Dugan and Morita provided cover fire.

As they reached the gate, Alex threw a final grenade, the explosion ripping through the facility.

"Go, go, go!"

They sprinted into the night as flames erupted behind them.

The first major strike against Hydra was a success.

But Schmidt wouldn't take this lightly.

Aftermath: Back at Base

The team returned to their hidden base just before dawn. Bruised, exhausted, but victorious.

Steve exhaled, wiping sweat from his brow. "One down, a dozen more to go."

Alex collapsed onto a crate, smirking. "If they weren't afraid of us before, they are now."

Phillips entered the tent, nodding in approval. "Not bad, boys. You did good work tonight."

Howard Stark sauntered in, holding a clipboard. "I'm impressed. But let's not celebrate too soon. Hydra will retaliate."

Peggy Carter entered, arms crossed. "They'll strike back harder. We need to be ready."

Alex glanced at Steve. They both knew this war was just beginning.
