Marvel : The great sage

Chapter 18: Chapter 18: The Fall of Captain America

Inside the Valkyrie – The Final Moments

The Valkyrie trembled violently, warning sirens blaring as it veered off-course. Flames erupted from the control panels, and the altitude indicators spun wildly out of control. The aircraft was descending fast—too fast.

Alex and Steve burst into the cockpit, scanning the controls.

Steve's jaw tightened. "The weapons are still armed. If this thing crashes into a city—"

Alex immediately took over the co-pilot seat, his mind racing. "Then we make sure that doesn't happen."

⌈ Analyzing flight path… Calculating safest crash site… ⌋

Alex's mind became eerily calm as Great Sage processed their options.

Only one outcome.

He looked at Steve, knowing what needed to be done. "We have to put it down in the Arctic."

Steve nodded, gripping the controls. "I'll handle it."

But Alex didn't move. "Not alone."

Steve turned to him, eyes full of meaning. "Yes, alone."

Alex clenched his fists, struggling with the weight of the moment. "I can stay—I can—"

Steve shook his head. "We both know what's about to happen." His voice was steady, but his expression softened. "You still have something to do, Alex. You need to go back."

Alex's mind reeled. He had fought alongside his brother, suffered, bled, and survived through it all. How could he just leave?

But Steve had already decided.

And Alex knew, deep down, that nothing could change his mind.

A voice crackled through the radio.

The Final Conversation – Peggy and Alex

"Steve? Alex?"

Peggy's voice was frantic over the comms.

Alex immediately grabbed the radio. "Peggy, we're still here."

Steve took a deep breath, steadying himself. "We're going down, Peg."

Silence.

Then, Peggy's voice broke. "No… No, you listen to me! There has to be another way!"

Alex swallowed hard, glancing at Steve. His brother gave him a look—one that told him to be strong.

"We don't have a choice," Steve said gently.

Alex hesitated before adding, "Peggy, listen. If we don't do this, people will die. We can't let that happen."

Peggy's breath hitched. "Then I'm coming to get you."

Alex forced himself to smile, even though she couldn't see it. "You better save that for our dance."

Peggy let out a shaky laugh, but it was filled with heartbreak.

"You owe me a dance," she whispered.

Alex exhaled. "Yeah. I do."

Steve finally took the radio. "Put some music on, Peg. Just in case I'm late."

The radio crackled, and then—soft music played.

Peggy's voice, trembling but strong. "Sunday at the Stork Club. Don't you dare be late."

Alex closed his eyes. He would remember this moment forever.

But there was one thing left to do.

Alex's Escape – The Hidden Power of the Tesseract

The plane shook violently, warning alarms screaming as ice and wind howled around them. The ocean below was endless, dark, and freezing.

Steve took a deep breath, accepting his fate. "It's time."

Alex, however, wasn't done yet.

The remains of the Tesseract still pulsed with energy in the cargo bay. It had burned through the floor earlier, but a fragment remained.

⌈ Energy detected. Possible teleportation capabilities. ⌋

This was his chance.

Alex looked at Steve one last time. "I'll find you."

Steve smiled. "I know."

Without hesitation, Alex grabbed the Tesseract's remnants—

And vanished in a flash of blue light.

The World Reacts – The Disappearance of Captain America

For days, the world searched.

The legendary Howling Commandos combed through the Arctic, but no wreckage was found. The Valkyrie had disappeared into the ice, and with it, Captain America.

Colonel Phillips delivered the news, his voice grave:

"Captain Steven Rogers is missing in action."

Peggy stood still, unreadable, but her hands trembled. She had lost them both.

Howard Stark searched tirelessly, dragging the ocean with everything he had.

But no sign of Alex Rogers.

It was as if he had vanished completely.

And so, the world mourned two heroes.

But in the shadows, far from prying eyes…

Alex Rogers was still alive.
