Chapter 300: Chapter 300: Thanos's Demand
"Fantastic!" Alan couldn't hide his excitement and almost hugged Red Queen in celebration but awkwardly stopped himself mid-motion.
"Master?" Red Queen displayed an expression resembling human curiosity.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Alan quickly offered her some praise.
"You did an excellent job."
A faint smile appeared on Red Queen's face as Alan got up and left. Passing through the connected airlocks of the two ships, he bumped into Rocket Raccoon, who was rushing toward him.
"Oh, buddy! You're just in time. I think Gamora's got something important to tell you," Rocket said, his tone unusually serious.
Alan looked at Rocket. For someone as flippant as him to take something seriously, it had to be beyond Gamora's control.
Could it be that they couldn't contact Thanos? Or that Thanos wouldn't trust Gamora at all?
With a heavy heart, Alan headed to the ship's control room. By the door stood Drax, his face blank as usual. Inside, Quill was behind Gamora, seemingly trying to offer support. Gamora's expression turned grim as she saw Alan enter.
"He... he knows that Nebula took the Aether Particle," Gamora began, her voice low. "But he won't allow anything to escape his control. He's demanded that we go to the place he mentioned and bring the Aether Particle back."
"What place?" Alan asked.
Gamora looked up at everyone, her voice steady but tense.
"Asgard—Nebula and Jane Foster are both hiding in Asgard."
"This is Thanos's demand?" Quill slammed a fist against the wall in frustration. "He wants you to bring the Aether Particle to him?"
Gamora exhaled deeply, her recent conversation with Thanos still vivid in her memory.
Thanos had commanded her to retrieve Nebula and the Aether Particle, threatening dire consequences if she failed. No one could withstand the wrath of the Mad Titan. Thanos had killed countless beings across the cosmos.
Though he referred to Gamora and Nebula as his daughters, there was no special treatment. To Thanos, they were little more than tools or slaves.
Alan stepped into the center of the control room, his gaze firm as he addressed everyone. He couldn't allow this team to fall apart because of Thanos. After all, he had brought them together, much like Nick Fury had assembled the Avengers. No one could break them apart.
"We're going to Asgard, but not to follow Thanos's orders. We're going there to rescue Nebula from his grasp. Just like we saved the people on Xandar from Ronan, Thanos will taste failure too. And the team that defeats him will be the Guardians of the Galaxy!"
Imitating Captain America's motivational tone, Alan's words lifted everyone's spirits. Rocket shook his weapon triumphantly, shouting in excitement.
Drax stared into the vast cosmos outside with fiery determination. His life's mission was revenge against Thanos, so it didn't matter where they were headed—he was ready.
Quill sighed, gave Alan a reluctant glance, then clenched his jaw and sat in the pilot's seat.
"Captain, are we ready to go?"
Alan smiled. "Set course for Asgard. Let's move out!"
The ship disappeared from its original position, its massive thrusters leaving a fiery trail like fireworks in the sky. The warp drive engaged, and the vessel jolted as it plunged into the twisting space ahead.
Alan and the Guardians of the Galaxy embarked on their journey to Asgard.
Shortly after they departed, a faint light appeared in the skies above Knowhere. Another ship emerged, and Taneleer Tivan—the Collector—was nowhere to be found.
