Marvel X The Boys

Chapter 22: Breaking News & Bad News

The city felt eerily still after the chaos of the subway station collapse. Dust hung in the air, illuminated by the unnatural glow of the two suns above.

Butcher ran a hand down his face, muttering curses under his breath. "Right. No more bloody tunnels."

Hughie, still catching his breath, nodded. "Agreed. Never again."

Deadpool, ever the optimist, stretched his arms behind his head. "Aw, come on, fellas. That was fun! Giant demon trains, near-death experiences, and Butcher almost getting turned into subway meat. That's what I call entertainment!"

Butcher shot him a glare that could melt steel. "The only entertainment I want is seein' you choke on your own bollocks."

"Wow. Dark," Deadpool quipped. "But hey, I get it. You're just upset because I'm prettier than you."

Frenchie chuckled, but before Butcher could fire back with another insult, a television screen caught their attention.

Breaking News

The TV sat in a shattered storefront, flickering with static before cutting to a live news broadcast. The reporter stood in front of a chaotic backdrop—sirens blaring, people screaming, the air behind her shimmering as though reality itself were being torn apart.

"This is Karen Simmons, reporting live from downtown! We are witnessing an event unlike anything seen before! Scientists are confirming that a massive tear in space and time has appeared in the sky, stretching for miles. Authorities warn citizens to evacuate as the distortion grows larger. No one knows what is causing this, but experts are calling it a 'multiversal rupture.'"

The camera cut to a terrifying image.

Above a ruined part of the city, a massive, swirling tear hovered in the sky, its jagged edges pulsing with golden and crimson light. Reality itself seemed to buckle around it, buildings warping at the edges as if struggling to stay intact.

And then—something stepped through.

Or rather, someone.

A man.

Dressed in red, white, and blue. A cape billowing behind him. Eyes glowing with an eerie golden hue.

The worst madman imaginable.

Homelander.

And behind him? The rest of The Seven.

The reporter gasped, the camera shaking. "Oh my god. Oh my god, no—"

A flash of heat vision.

Static.

The broadcast cut out.

Silence.

Then—

"...Oh, f*** me," Butcher muttered, his grip on his crowbar tightening.

Hughie's face went pale. "Tell me I didn't just see what I think I saw."

Frenchie exhaled, taking a slow drag from his cigarette. "Merde."

Mother's Milk crossed his arms, his jaw clenched. "This just got a whole lot worse."

Alex, who had no idea who Homelander was, looked between them. "Uh… someone want to explain?"

Deadpool burst out laughing.

Like, really laughing. Hands-on-his-knees, almost-wheezing levels of laughter.

"Oh my god, YES! Finally! It's happening! The crossover no one asked for but everyone secretly wanted!"

The group all turned to stare at him.

Deadpool straightened up, wiping an imaginary tear from his mask. "Guys, guys, do you even realize what this means?! The Seven! The discount Justice League! The psychopaths! The 'we commit war crimes before breakfast' squad! They're here!"

Butcher's face darkened. "Aye. And that means this world's f***ed."

Deadpool turned to the audience.

"I know what you're thinking. 'Deadpool, does this mean we're finally getting The Boys vs. The Avengers movie crossover we deserve?' To which I say—YES. Except it's happening here, not on Disney+, and also? The Mouse would never let Homelander near the same franchise as Captain America. Too much 'evil reflection' symbolism."

He leaned in closer. "But here? Here, we get to watch the fireworks. And oh man, I hope they sell popcorn in the apocalypse."

Back to Reality

"Alright, we ain't standin' around waitin' to get laser-beamed," Butcher growled, already scanning the area for cover.

Mother's Milk nodded. "If Homelander's here, it's only a matter of time before he finds us."

Hughie swallowed. "And if we run into The Avengers first?"

Frenchie sighed. "Then we'll be caught between a hammer and a psycho."

"Correction," Deadpool cut in, pointing upward. "A very patriotic psycho."

The air around them suddenly crackled with energy.

Something was coming.

Butcher rolled his shoulders, cracking his neck. "Fine by me. Been waitin' for this fight a long time."

Alex, still trying to process what the hell was going on, groaned. "I have a bad feeling about this."

Deadpool patted him on the back. "Kid, this isn't a bad feeling. This is a legendary event! We're about to witness history! And possibly die horribly."

The ground shook.

A distant sonic boom.

They weren't alone anymore.
