Chapter 124: Doggo's Belly Is Hell!
Doggo's acting skills were quite impressive.
After flopping down on the ground, he didn't move an inch. Aside from occasionally winking at Nick Fury, who was secretly peeking through the grocery store door, his body stayed completely still.
The surrounding Hydra soldiers really believed the dog had been killed.
After all, it's just a dog. A single bullet should have been enough to take it out.
At this moment, the Hydra soldiers, dressed in black tactical gear and masks to hide their identities, began approaching cautiously. Each of them carried a weapon, and several at the back were even holding rocket launchers.
With this much firepower, Fury felt like they could destroy a full military base, let alone a small grocery store.
It was still the early hours of the morning. Not even a trace of sunlight in the sky. The streets were dead quiet, and aside from these masked soldiers, there wasn't a soul in sight.
Fury's heart was pounding wildly.
He knew Luke's dog was strong, but was he strong enough to fight against so many heavy weapons?
And even more concerning, if they used those bazookas, would the grocery store survive? Or would it just be blown to pieces?
He glanced back at Luke.
Still the same as before. Completely calm, leaning back with a casual air, as if nothing important was happening.
Like this was just another day.
The Hydra soldiers had reached the front of the store.
Suddenly, a squad among them stepped forward carrying a battering ram, clearly preparing to force their way inside.
Fury grew even more anxious. He was beginning to doubt this dog's so-called genius-level cunning.
But just when he was about to lose his patience, Doggo's body suddenly changed.
Right now, he was lying in the very center of the soldiers' formation.
They thought the dog was dead and hadn't bothered moving the corpse. That turned out to be their biggest mistake.
Because in the blink of an eye, Doggo's body lit up in green.
A moment later, it began to swell.
Dark green flames burst from his fur, surrounding him with waves of terrifying heat. In an instant, the Hydra soldiers nearby could feel the scorching air burning their faces.
Their formation broke immediately. Panic spread. Everyone tried to retreat.
Doggo's body kept growing, rapidly and monstrously.
Within just four seconds, he had transformed into a massive three-headed dog cloaked in blazing green fire.
Then, he stood up.
The intense heat from his body caused the ground beneath him to melt.
Several Hydra soldiers, unable to escape fast enough, were burned alive on the spot. The two closest to him caught fire instantly, their screams cut short.
Of the three monstrous heads, one looked proud, another smug, and the third stared at the soldiers with ravenous hunger.
The Hydra soldiers were terrified.
They had never expected this.
No one had warned them that Luke's dog was a literal monster.
But these were elite fighters. Trained to handle fear.
They quickly regrouped and began firing to cover the retreat of those closest to the beast.
The gunfire roared in the stillness of night echoing across the otherwise empty streets.
But horror struck again, the bullets were completely useless.
Some melted before even touching Doggo. Others hit, only to bounce off or vanish in puffs of steam.
The heat around him was simply too high.
Several bullets ricocheted and struck the grocery store's front shutter and walls.
Fury slammed the door shut and stumbled back a few steps.
If a stray bullet hit him in this mess, he could only blame his curiosity, and bad luck.
The door was made of an ordinary alloy, and now several dents and bulges had formed from the impact.
Fury frowned. If this kept up, or worse, if they used the bazookas, this door wouldn't hold for long.
But just then, Luke heard the familiar voice of the system in his head:
[Ding! The wall of your grocery store felt the violent battle outside and is extremely frightened. It has awakened a bulletproof function, no matter how much damage hits the street, the store will remain untouched.]
[Ding! The door of your grocery store feels pain and is terrified of being destroyed. It has actively upgraded itself into a vibranium door with automatic recovery. No matter how many bullets strike it, not even a scratch will remain.]
Fury, still staring at the door, suddenly noticed the bullet dents disappearing.
The rolling shutter… was repairing itself.
"What the hell?"
Fury wasn't frightened by the soldiers outside.
He was frightened by the gate.
A wild thought crossed his mind.
Was this grocery store… alive?
Otherwise, how could the door repair itself like that?
Luke, on the other hand, was a little surprised too.
He hadn't expected the store to awaken such powerful defenses. A vibranium door? That's the same material used in Captain America's shield!
And this one was huge. If melted down, it might be enough to make a full team of Cap's shields.
Suddenly, Doggo began changing again.
The three heads slowly pulled away from each other, stretching and shifting.
A moment later…
The massive three-headed dog split into three separate hellhounds, each covered in the same green flames.
Doggo's counterattack had officially begun!
The three beasts charged in different directions.
Despite being elite soldiers, the Hydra operatives were powerless.
Their weapons did nothing other than slowing their running speed.
And once the dogs got close, the heat alone was lethal. Even being near them caused severe burns.
Plus, Doggo now had Hulk genes enhancing his body.
He was no longer just a magical pet. He was also a berserker with terrifying physical strength!
Be it his speed or power, both were overwhelming for these soldiers who were just normal humans.
From inside the grocery store, all Fury could hear were the screams of the Hydra soldiers.
But none of the screams lasted long.
Because Doggo had started eating.
Whenever he reached a soldier, he didn't bite them to pieces. He simply opened his giant mouth and swallowed them whole.
Even those he bit into, there was no blood left behind.
It all evaporated instantly in the heat.
As if those soldiers had never been there to begin with.
Not even ashes remained.
Finally, a Hydra soldier who had fled to a distance lifted a rocket launcher onto his shoulder and aimed at one of the monstrous dogs.
With a flash of flame, the rocket fired, whistling through the air toward the target.
Doggo turned to look.
Then, that head opened its jaws.
And from where the soldier stood, he could see inside the dog's mouth.
What he saw wasn't flesh as expected.
It was like another world all together.
Inside, there were rivers of magma, silence, mountains of bones, and endless wandering spirits in the sky.
A scene straight out of Hell.
Or more like this dog's belly was Hell itself.
…
