"Hmph, it's his own fault for having an issue with my Crookshanks," Hermione said indignantly.

"He even called Crookshanks a little monster! But look at how beautiful my Crookshanks is!"

"Yeah, beautiful..."

George glanced at Crookshanks, who had a face like a squashed persimmon, and gave a noncommittal nod.

Honestly, George didn't think anyone could consider Crookshanks beautiful—perhaps a very small group of people might find him awkwardly cute.

Everyone had their own taste, just like how people could love bulldogs, Shar Peis, or even Cornish Rex cats. Even though they were far from conventionally attractive, they had their own charm for certain people.

Though Crookshanks wasn't exactly a pretty cat, he wasn't ordinary either. With some magical blood from a cat-raccoon hybrid, he could sense malice.

That's probably why he was always chasing after Scabbers, the rat, whenever he came near.

"Hey, George, long time no see! Is this your little girlfriend?"

As the two Ministry of Magic cars pulled up outside the Leaky Cauldron, Nymphadora Tonks, wearing a red jacket, jeans, and sporting her usual colorful hair, got out and teased as she saw George and Hermione talking together.

"Long time no see, Tonks! I heard you got promoted to a full Auror! Congratulations!"

George didn't mind the teasing and smiled as he waved back.

He hadn't expected to see Tonks, especially since she was one of the Aurors assigned to escort Harry to the train station.

"Hermione, what happened to your face? It's not hot outside, is it?"

Harry and Ron arrived at the door just in time to see Hermione's slightly flushed face, and Harry couldn't help but ask.

Hermione quickly grabbed her luggage and headed for the car.

"I just wore too many layers this morning," she said hastily.

"Oh, the car's here. Let's go, everyone."

Mr. and Mrs. Weasley came out and urged everyone to get into the car, as the Ministry of Magic carriages had arrived.

The journey to the station was smooth and uneventful, and they soon arrived without incident.

After passing through Platform Nine and Three-Quarters and boarding the Hogwarts Express, George carried his luggage to the compartment for second-year students.

Since they had stayed at the Leaky Cauldron the night before, and with the Ministry cars transporting them, they were among the first to arrive at the station. The train compartment was still empty.

Ginny naturally chose to sit next to George.

Before long, Colin and Luna boarded the train.

"Here! Over here!"

Ginny waved and explained to George, "I wrote to Colin and Luna ahead of time, asking them to arrive early today. This way, we can sit together like we did last year."

"Ah, I see."

George nodded, surprised by how coincidental it seemed.

Turns out, all these "coincidences" had been planned in advance.

But he didn't mind; it didn't matter to him who he sat with on the train.

He used to care about gaining prestige—after all, it might lead to a better future after graduation.

But with his rapid improvement in magical abilities, George realized he no longer needed to worry about such things.

When you have overwhelming strength, any plot or scheme seems utterly inefficient compared to just overpowering everything in your path.

What truly amazed him was how much his power had transformed in just a year.

Though, in terms of actual time, it wasn't just one year—if he considered the time spent with his main body and other alternate versions, it had been much longer.

The Hogwarts Express continued its journey northward, and the scenery outside the window grew increasingly desolate. As the clouds thickened in the sky, the daylight slowly faded.

Around 3 or 4 p.m., rain began to fall, and the rolling hills outside the window grew blurry.

The rain poured harder, and the train windows became clouded with water, gradually darkening.

Eventually, the lights in the aisles and luggage racks flickered on. The train rumbled loudly, while raindrops hammered against the windows and the wind howled outside.

George flipped through his Detailed Guide to Alchemy, and by this time, Ginny, Luna, and Colin had all fallen asleep, their heads resting on the table.

The train slowly began to decelerate, and the sound of the wheels became faint. The wind and rain grew even louder, battering against the windows.

"What's happening? Have we arrived?"

Ginny groggily opened her eyes, and Luna and Colin woke up as well.

George closed his Alchemical Compendium and replied,

"No, it's probably just a minor issue with the train."

He knew this was a surprise inspection orchestrated by the Ministry of Magic to prevent Sirius Black from boarding the Hogwarts Express and infiltrating the school.

"An issue?"

Colin and Ginny got up and pushed open the compartment door to peer outside. Other young witches and wizards from neighboring compartments also curiously stuck their heads out, but no one knew what was happening.

At that moment, the train gave a sudden "clunk" and came to a complete stop. All the lights abruptly went out.

"Ah!"

A chorus of screams filled the air. George felt two figures suddenly leap into his arms—Colin and Ginny, frightened by the sudden darkness.

"Lumos!"

Luna calmly cast the lighting charm with her wand, illuminating the room.

George held Colin and Ginny, gently placing them back into their seats and offering comfort.

"It's okay, just a small mishap. It should be resolved soon."

"Then what's going on?"

Colin asked, his voice trembling, pointing at the window where, for some unknown reason, frost was slowly forming. In early July, it shouldn't be this cold.

Seeing this, Ginny jumped back into George's arms, and he helplessly patted her back, offering reassurance.

He was surprised—Ginny usually had a lot of courage, but apparently, she was terrified of the dark, or maybe she was just still too young.

This was something Luna didn't seem to struggle with at all. Luna appeared completely unfazed, not scared in the slightest, and George thought that was probably because she was the kind of person who could see Thestrals.

While George was comforting Ginny, a tall, shadowy figure with a hood suddenly appeared at the door.

It stretched out a grayish-white hand, covered in slime and spots, like a decayed hand that had been submerged in water for too long, slowly pushing the door open.

Then, an eerie, decaying head peered inside, as if searching for something.

"Ah!!!"

Colin and Ginny screamed in terror.

Luna, usually so composed, was visibly frightened now and squeezed closer to George.

"This is a Dementor, one of the most terrifying dark creatures. It's said to be capable of sucking a person's soul away."

"Ah!!!"

Upon hearing Luna's explanation, Colin and Ginny became even more terrified.

At this moment, George slowly stretched out his hand and conjured a small magical circle in the air.

"Light Rain!"

Dementors were dark creatures that could only be repelled by the Patronus Charm, but George wanted to test whether his holy light-based magic could have any effect.

Even if it didn't work, it was fine—he could still cast the Patronus Charm.

Besides, they weren't Harry, so they didn't have Voldemort's soul fragment inside them and therefore weren't as vulnerable to the Dementor's attacks.

He unleashed a light arrow formed from holy light, which shot directly at the Dementor. Upon sensing the arrow, the Dementor's body instantly trembled, letting out a horrific screech.

But before it could react or evade, the arrow struck it directly, and it disintegrated into a pile of ashes.
