Chapter 147: Chapter 146: Venom Gwen’s First Battle
"Alright, no problem."
Peter looked into Electro's eyes and nodded seriously.
Electro was momentarily stunned. "You're not even going to ask about the reward?"
Peter shook his head. "Have you ever seen a superhero who demands payment before doing the right thing?"
Electro was taken aback again, then chuckled. "You kind of remind me of Spider-Man from a long time ago…"
With an understanding reached, the two quickly took action.
Retracing their steps, Electro gave Peter a brief rundown of Venom Lizard's identity, as well as his own.
However, he wasn't entirely sure how Dr. Lizard had come into contact with Venom in the first place.
One thing was certain—just a few days ago, Dr. Lizard hadn't been like this.
Which meant his transformation had happened within the last day or two.
Hearing this, Peter felt a little relieved.
The combination of Venom + Dr. Lizard was indeed intimidating, but the Venom in this world wasn't particularly powerful—Carnage, who was even stronger, had already been taken down by Peter.
Moreover, since Venom Lizard had only appeared recently, he likely wasn't too difficult to deal with.
And yet, for some reason, Peter couldn't shake a lingering unease.
This world… it didn't seem to be improving, even with the downfall of multiple supervillains—whether already defeated or inevitably so.
Peter wasn't sure if he was just imagining things.
And he had no idea where this strange feeling was coming from.
There was nothing he could do about it now, so he pushed the thought aside.
First things first—take down Venom Lizard.
After their brief conversation, Peter and Electro arrived back at the battlefield.
The two then split up.
Electro went to assist the Parchment Vulture in dealing with the Lizard Soldiers, while Peter headed to help Gwen fight Venom Lizard.
Meanwhile...
The Lizard Soldiers were relatively easy to handle.
They had been created by Dr. Lizard using his Lizard Serum, inheriting both the strengths and weaknesses of the Lizard gene—though in a more extreme manner than what he had used on himself.
They were violent and bloodthirsty but severely lacking in intelligence.
With both Parchment Vulture and Electro in the fight, eliminating them was only a matter of time.
Plus, the uniformed fighters of the district hadn't just been standing around—they had been fiercely battling the Lizard Soldiers all along.
As for Peter...
Swinging on his webs, he traveled several streets away.
Now that they had left the densely populated areas, Gwen was no longer holding back, and her battle with Venom Lizard had grown increasingly intense.
When Peter arrived, he didn't immediately join the fight.
Since Gwen wanted to prove herself, he needed to give her the space to grow.
Besides, at this distance, he could step in at any moment if she ran into trouble.
As he observed the battle, Peter noticed something unusual—Venom Lizard's intelligence seemed off.
His attacks were brutally aggressive, but he rarely defended himself.
In fact… he seemed even more beast-like than when Peter had first seen him.
A mindless, raging beast.
Is It Venom's Influence?
Peter observed Venom Lizard, whose body was now fully covered in a layer of the symbiote suit, and speculated.
Below, in the midst of an intense battle, Gwen remained unaware of Peter's arrival, focusing all her attention on fighting Venom Lizard.
She, too, had noticed something off about his mental state.
At the start of the fight, his attacks had been structured and calculated, but as the battle dragged on, he became increasingly irrational.
Now, he was nothing more than a raging beast.
With that, his strength and speed had also increased, growing even more formidable than before.
But it didn't matter.
His agility, on the other hand, had sharply declined.
And now, in his mindless frenzy, he couldn't even recognize the dangers around him, allowing Gwen to lure him into a web she had carefully set up!
The Trap
It was between two buildings.
Here, Gwen had laid down numerous Venom-enhanced webs.
These webs were far stronger than the synthetic ones she had used before.
And the giant web woven from them was even more effective!
Its carefully calculated geometric structure gave it the ability to trap Venom Lizard completely!
As soon as he stumbled into it, he became like an insect caught in a web—no matter how much he thrashed and struggled, he couldn't break free.
All he could do was watch as the spider slowly approached.
Applause
Clap! Clap! Clap!
Peter leaped down, landing beside Gwen while applauding.
"Not bad! You've mastered the Venom suit's abilities so quickly!"
"Hmph!" Gwen shot him a smug glance. "I told you I'm amazing!"
"Amazing, amazing! That's my Gwen for you!" Peter teased.
Gwen leaned in closer. "Aren't you going to show some appreciation?"
Peter: ?
"Huh? How am I supposed to do that?" He was momentarily confused.
Even though they had spent an entire day together—lost in each other—he still wasn't completely used to Gwen's bold new personality.
This Gwen was amazing in every way, except… she was too aggressive—no matter the situation, she always wanted to take the initiative.
A Bold Move
Swoosh—
The Venom mask on Gwen's face receded, revealing her short golden hair and delicate features.
She tilted her head slightly, looking up at Peter.
Peter: …
Smooch!
He gave her a quick peck on the lips and sighed helplessly, "Happy now?"
"Not enough! But I'll let you off for now—until tonight."
Gwen smirked and turned back toward Venom Lizard.
"Let's check out my prize first."
The Captive Beast
"ROAR!"
Venom Lizard let out a deep, guttural growl, baring his fangs at Gwen.
Seeing this, Peter also stepped forward.
The moment Peter approached, Venom Lizard snarled at him as well, his jagged teeth flashing.
But Peter wasn't the least bit intimidated—he simply examined him curiously, as if he were an exhibit at the zoo.
Venom Lizard's current form was essentially a larger, tailed version of Venom, but it was obvious he wasn't a true Venom.
After all, if he were a real Venom, he would have far greater adaptability—a mere web wouldn't have been able to restrain him.
Gwen, who had the Venom suit herself, would have known this.
Clearly, that's why she had used this specific method to capture him.
A Half-Finished Venom?
Peter frowned. "Is this guy… an incomplete Venom?"
Killing him would be easy.
One precise Quantum Sting to the head, and he would drop dead on the spot.
Neither Venom nor Dr. Lizard could survive that.
But as Peter looked at Venom Lizard, a different thought crossed his mind.
What if Gwen's Venom consumed the one on Dr. Lizard?
Symbiotes gain power by absorbing other symbiotes, right?
Then again… the Venom on Dr. Lizard didn't seem like a full-fledged symbiote.
Would it even provide that kind of boost?
