Matrix Survival: I Get A Random Chest Every Day

Chapter 221: Tomb Chamber, Real and Fake Traps

Body like a rock, edges sharp and clear, resembling a small mountain.

"Ice Rock Giant?" Li Zheng was unsure.

The pattern on the door was too simple and uncolored; perhaps it was something similar to an Ice Rock Giant.

Li Zheng looked closely at the pattern's knee area.

Whether it was due to recent cleaning or originally engraved, it's uncertain.

There was unexpectedly a thin and short "leg hair" at the knee!

"Rock Ice Ruo Fire." Li Zheng confirmed the identity of this pattern and was immediately shocked: "Rock Ice Ruo Fire can only be produced by the leader of the Ice Rock Giants, and the leader of the Ice Rock Giants is at least Diamond-tier or above."

"In this pattern, the Diamond-level leader of the Ice Rock Giants is actually squeezed in the corner, at the very edge!?"

According to the rules of positioning, the most powerful characters are often in the center.

This indicates that in the pattern, there are over forty beings stronger than the 'Ice Rock Giant'.

That creature full of eyes at the very center makes one's heart tense just by glancing at the pattern.

And all these engraved creatures were once slain by the tomb owner!

A tomb left by such a powerful being, is it really something I can enter at will?

Li Zheng hesitated; Old Pu claimed to be a trap expert, yet was vague this time facing the tomb.

It's very likely that even the "backup plan" left by the tomb owner is difficult for Old Pu to solve.

The only thing clearly marked in several hints was the low valuation of the burial items.

Is it worth the risk for these things?

Li Zheng wrestled with his thoughts for ten seconds, finally making up his mind: "Since I'm here, wouldn't leaving empty-handed be a waste?"

Of course, the main consideration for Li Zheng was that, being a tomb, the remains of the tomb owner should be buried inside, right?

The remains of such a strong figure, whatever is decomposed from them must be at least Extraordinary-level, right?

Compared to that, are other burial items important?

With this in mind, Li Zheng rolled up his sleeves, drew out the Sheathed Sword, and personally thrust it into the tomb's door, easily burying it to the hilt.

"Just ordinary stone?" Li Zheng was somewhat surprised, originally thinking that a strong figure's tomb would not be built with such poor materials.

"Although the thickness is acceptable."

Transformed into the Power Demon, he grasped the Sheathed Sword and with great effort, soon dug a hole into the tomb's door.

Looking at the stone taken out, it was nearly a meter thick.

If not for the Power Demon's natural strength, Li Zheng estimated it would have taken quite some effort to open this door.

He widened the entrance from the hole until it was enough for one person to pass through, then canceled the Power Demon Incarnation, unsheathed the Mysterious Declaration for lighting, and entered the tomb.

Sakura and Pink Poli followed closely behind into the tomb, looking around curiously, full of wonder.

Contrary to what Li Zheng imagined, behind the tomb door was not a passageway but a small room.

Near the entrance was a stone-carved decorative pillar, about one and a half meters high, with a depression at the top.

The light shining on it made it gleam.

[Ordinary lamp oil, can burn for four hours when ignited.]

"So much lamp oil, how extravagant."

Li Zheng took out a bottle and filled it with all the lamp oil, amounting to about five liters.

"It seems like the tomb owner even gave away the Power Core before dying; otherwise, a few energy lamps would be more useful than these oil lamps... Although he wouldn't need them anyway."

He continued deeper with a lamp, reaching a second room, where another similar lamp pillar stood at the entrance.

Lamp oil +5 liters.

Besides this, there were two stone-carved wardrobes in the room. Li Zheng opened one and found it empty.

As expected, the dead don't need to change clothes; two empty wardrobes would suffice for appearances.

The next room was different; there were two lamp pillars at the entrance, one on each side.

Li Zheng happily filled them, lamp oil +10 liters.

Although these were of no use to Li Zheng, free stuff shouldn't be wasted.

If necessary, he could always give it to someone. When Phoenix Mountain folks light a fire, it would be quite convenient.

"Oh, there's a box." Li Zheng's gaze landed in a corner where a 50-centimeter-high stone box stood.

[A seemingly ordinary box, but with hidden potential. Be careful of traps.]

"Oh wow, as long as it's not empty, that's good." Li Zheng didn't rush over but observed the surroundings of the box carefully.

"Old Pu is getting more and more outrageous; he doesn't even hint at where the trap is."

Soon, Li Zheng noticed that the stone slab directly under the box was slightly different from the surroundings, recessed by nearly five millimeters.

[Pressure-triggered trap, will activate immediately with any change in weight above.]

"Pressure-triggered, this is similar to a tripwire mine; could there be a mine buried under the box?"

If it's just a mine, then it would be manageable.

Li Zheng thought for a moment, turned, and instructed: "Sakura, you and Pink Poli wait for me outside."

"Okay." Sakura nodded and left with Pink Poli running.

After the two little ones had almost left, Li Zheng approached the box, slowly lifted the box lid.

With a creak, the lid was lifted, Li Zheng's gaze fixed on the area beneath the box, ready to react if the trap was triggered.

Creak~duang~

As soon as the lid was lifted, the collapsing floor beneath suddenly bounced upward, triggering a trap.

A black spherical object shot out of the box, accompanied by a piercing, sinister laugh.

The ugly, bizarre head of some unknown race of creature, pulled by a spring mechanism, burst into insane laughter directed at Li Zheng.

Instinctively, Li Zheng ducked to avoid it. When he realized what it was, he was immediately annoyed at himself for being scared by such a foolish toy and slapped it away.

"Damn it! A big shot playing pranks like this!"

[Would you like to decompose the Fright Box?]

The sudden prompt made Li Zheng both disdainful and slightly stunned: "This thing can actually be decomposed!"

What else was there to say?

"Decompose!"

[Decomposed Fright Box: Acquired Biomimetic Organization +5, Iron Ingot +10, Components +5]

Once the decomposition was complete, the indescribable bouncing head along with the simple mechanism underneath it disappeared entirely, leaving a USB drive at the bottom of the box.

The USB was pitch black with golden patterns, and Li Zheng had obtained two similar ones a few days earlier.

Toying with the USB in his hand: "Isn't this a codex? Didn't they say it was only for non-technology side items? Could it be that USB drives don't count as technology side?"

[They count now; they didn't before.]

"What counts and what doesn't? Isn't that a contradiction?"

Old Pu rambled an explanation, which Li Zheng didn't ponder over too much. He put away the codex and moved on to the next room.

The owner of this tomb clearly cared about quality of life; the entire interior of the tomb was divided into more than ten rooms of varying sizes.

Some rooms housed racks for weapons and armor, which were, unsurprisingly, empty.

Some rooms had inexplicably carved shelves on the walls, Old Pu's suggestion being: [Bookshelves without a single book.]

Another room had a large pit dug into the floor, empty inside with only traces of long-gone moss suggesting it was meant for bathing or swimming.

Moreover, the tomb was even divided into areas like a kitchen, bathroom, and entertainment room.

The kitchen was simple, with a stone-constructed bonfire and rock-crafted cupboards along the wall.

The bathroom, however, had merely two squat toilets…

The entertainment room was more advanced, with strange squares etched into the floor, resembling some kind of game board.

"Incredible, which race does the tomb master belong to, and why is their lifestyle so similar to that of humans on Earth?"

After searching through the unimportant rooms, Li Zheng found nothing.

The rooms at the back didn't even have much lamp oil, just five liters in the "kitchen."

Similarly, he didn't encounter any traps.

Li Zheng even speculated that the earlier Fright Box might not have been a trap at all, but rather a "toy" left by the tomb owner…

He arrived at the largest room, which was also the room with the most area.

Inside, there was a stone sarcophagus.

The sarcophagus was perfectly square and very large.

Its height alone exceeded three meters.

The length was even more exaggerated, reaching over ten meters!

"Is the tomb master a giant?" Li Zheng glanced around and dismissed the idea.

Since the height of each door inside the tomb didn't exceed three meters, if the tomb master were a ten-meter-tall giant, how would they have entered?

"If the Fright Box was just a toy, then the real trap might be on this crucial sarcophagus, right?"

He circled the sarcophagus three times, finally ascending to observe from above, but still couldn't discern any traps.

This time, Old Pu was even more silent, not offering a single hint.

"Maybe it's inside the sarcophagus?"

Landing on the ground, he directly transformed into the Power Demon Incarnation, pressed his hands against one end of the sarcophagus, exhaled robustly, and pushed with all his strength.

The lid of the sarcophagus shifted slightly.

Then suddenly, an echoing mechanical sound emanated from inside the sarcophagus, suggesting something had been triggered.

Crash!

Li Zheng's eyes widened as two dark holes suddenly opened on the surface of the sarcophagus at head height.

The holes gleamed with a cold light, clearly hiding lethal weapons!

"Crossbow arrows?"

The thought flashed through his mind, and Li Zheng instinctively activated his Shield Belt, forming a faint ion force field shield around him.

In the next instant, the crossbow arrows were fired, crashing into the shield with an explosive boom.

"Boom!"

A massive force hit from the front, and even in his Power Demon Incarnation state, Li Zheng couldn't help but retreat seven steps before barely steadying himself.

Looking at the energy reading of his Shield Belt, Li Zheng inhaled sharply: "Holy shit! Just to fend off two crossbow arrows, but the energy is already drained!?"

Not only that, but the ion force field struggled to dissipate the force of the crossbow arrows, leaving Li Zheng no choice but to step back to release the force.

"It's at least Diamond Level in power. This tomb master is indeed formidable; a casually placed trap nearly killed me instantly!" Li Zheng wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, still in shock.

However, an even more terrifying scene unfolded.

A snail-like eye emerged from the gap Li Zheng had pushed open in the sarcophagus.

The round eye instantly locked onto Li Zheng's direction, glaring at him.
