Chapter 5: The Game of Manipulation

Trish sat in class, lazily tapping her nails on the desk, barely listening to the lesson. Where is that loser? she thought. Did he finally wet his pants and run away for good?

Her thoughts drifted to something more important—how to get Verske to buy her the designer bag she wanted. Men are so easy to manipulate, she mused, scrolling through her phone under the desk.

The bell rang, signaling the end of class. She stretched and made her way to the school gate, as usual, waiting for Verske. But then, an unexpected sight made her stop.

Elias.

She smirked. Does this idiot really have the guts to show his face here?

"What do you want, loser?" she sneered. "Coming to get revenge? Should I just call Verske now so he can knock you down again?"

But instead of looking scared or angry, Elias smiled.

"No, nothing like that," he said smoothly.

And then, something about his tone felt… different.

"I actually came to give you something," he continued. "That bag you wanted before. I already got it for you."

Trish blinked.

Wait… what?

Her mind reeled, but the words felt so natural—like there was no reason to doubt them. Her annoyance faded, replaced by excitement.

"Oh?" she purred, crossing her arms. "At least you know how to make up for your mistakes."

Elias barely hesitated. "That's why I'm here. I left class early to get it, but…" He let out an awkward chuckle. "I forgot it at my house."

Trish frowned slightly but, strangely, didn't feel mad.

"Hmph. Fine. Let's go then. You better not be wasting my time."

And just like that, she followed him without question.

Behind her, Elias smirked.
