Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Vibranium
Aaron and the secretary had a bit more friendly conversation—actually, it was Aaron chatting with that Air Force commander, Ronald. Both sides were quite pleased with their cooperation.
Skye, witnessing it all, looked dead-eyed, like a walking corpse.
At the end, following instructions from General Ronald, the secretary offered a gentle reminder in a roundabout way:
If you ever need them, tanks, infantry weapons, artillery, etc., are also negotiable.
Even naval warships could come up in future talks.
After all, we're all patriots—no need to be so formal.
Sure, we're the Air Force, but the Navy and Army are out there too!
We're all human; we each have needs; it's simply mutual benefit…
Oh, right—military cooperation!
Just like that, Aaron instantly became an "Air Force military consultant" for the U.S., and Oscorp became a key partner for the military. But unlike Hammer Industries or Stark Industries, Oscorp wouldn't be taking orders to produce weapons or ammo for the armed forces. Instead, the company would serve the upper echelons of the military—those people who truly represent it.
Throughout the talk, the secretary was extremely gracious, even walking half a step behind Aaron. In the end, he casually hinted:
"Mr. Aaron, forgive my forwardness, but about your secretary…maybe she needs some thorough 'training.'"
"Please don't misunderstand; I mean no offense. It's just our general has some expertise in that department. If you get a chance, perhaps you and our generals could discuss it together…"
He gave a knowing "guy-to-guy" grin.
Skye heard that and fully lost faith in the military. These were the guys taking taxpayers' money, yet going wild to line their own pockets—even selling off critical national assets. She put a giant mental X over them; she wanted to expose the whole lot. These parasites needed a cleansing from top to bottom!
"Surprised?" Aaron asked with a mild smile. "Feel free to reveal everything, but I guarantee that within minutes, you and the Rising Tide will be eradicated—no survivors. Meanwhile, those military generals will remain safe and sound."
"Why? The people won't let them get away with it!" Skye ground her teeth.
"Because we're all on the same side, and you're not included." Aaron patted her shoulder calmly.
After all, they even dared blow up the presidential envoy's plane with no fear. If you think you can argue with my gun, come at me! We'll blow millions shipping in sheep from Italy, or buy a bag of cheap screws for sky-high prices. So what if it's nonsensical? Other types of screws just won't do—maybe the plane or tank will fail because we used the 'wrong' screws, costing soldiers' lives. Who'll take responsibility for that? Or what if the troops ate "enemy-poisoned" lamb and died—who'd answer for it then?
"Is the world…really this fake, this deceitful?"
Aaron laughed. "There's only one absolute truth in this world, and that is…my fist is bigger than yours."
Skye was speechless.
"Felicia," Aaron said, glancing over at Norman, who was signaling from a distance, "take Ms. Skye to see our latest developments. Oscorp has no secrets!"
Skye grew apprehensive. She might be naive, but she knew the more she learned, the sooner she'd be silenced. Yet Aaron gave her no chance to refuse; at the moment, he didn't have time to 'educate' her, being quite busy as the boss.
Norman, after sending off the Air Force commander's secretary, came striding over excitedly with an item in his hands.
"Boss, this is that special metal you asked us to track down—'vibranium!' We got it from the British Museum. Allegedly, they took it from the people of Benin in the 7th century. Our tests show it's completely different from ordinary metals, holding enormous development potential."
Norman was in awe—his first time seeing such a metal. If they could find enough of it to study, Oscorp could catapult itself ahead of Stark Industries.
"You can look for a weapons dealer named…Ulysses Klaue?" Aaron recalled from memory. "He's got a batch of the stuff, though it's pricey—and he might not admit it. Plus if you buy it, Wakanda might take an interest in you," he added casually, thinking back to the storyline.
"Wakanda?" Norman frowned. "I recall that's some African country—one of the poorest in the world, right? Seems they barely interact with the outside. If not for their mountains and rainforests, they'd have been conquered by the British or French ages ago."
"Maybe," Aaron said, not bothering to elaborate that if someone trespassed in there, the British Empire's 'glory' would vanish instantly.
"Oh, by the way," Aaron added, "I've got something I think you'll find interesting."
He sent Norman a link to the Deadpool video. Opening it, Norman's eyes nearly popped out.
"Oh my god, this is insane!"
"What the—?! The star is Wilson? This is wild!"
Norman exclaimed, watching avidly, already imagining that since Wilson had no money to repay the destroyed car, maybe he could be roped in for some profitable venture. After all, philosophical 'culture' was on the rise these days…?
Ignoring Norman's shock, Aaron left with the vibranium to return to his secret storage room. The single table there was again piled with miscellaneous items. As per his instructions, every day a massive number of objects from all over the globe arrived at Oscorp Tower—no need for him to go out hunting for them one by one. That's the benefit of having Oscorp at your beck and call.
He picked up a list purposely left on the table:
Archerfish, Pistol Shrimp, Sea Urchins, Fleas, Mantis Shrimps, Cockroaches, Snakes—each category included multiple species that could be gathered within a short time. Even just the cockroaches came in American, German, Oriental varieties. As for snakes, they had dozens of types. Doing this on his own would have taken a huge amount of time.
After laying the list aside, Aaron reached into a bio-culture container with his right hand. Nimbly, he caught one creature after another—be it insect or animal. Faced with Aaron, they had zero chance of resistance, caught and absorbed in the blink of an eye.
