Chapter 841: 443. Survival or Destroyer
"What are you babbling in weird language, speak Frost Plated!"
Du Zexin gently adjusted the gear, the laser beneath Magnum converted to a visible light source, illuminating the dark corners.
"Don't be so distant, Citizen."
The light cleared the shadows of the warehouse, revealing a sight that somewhat exceeded Du Zexin's expectations.
A woman.
She was dressed as though she had just entered the Industrial Era, cloaked in a thick, earth-yellow cloak, wearing boots.
Her brown hair quietly draped over her shoulders, her yellow eyes flowing with gentleness.
He couldn't sense a trace of Pathway from her... but Du Zexin was very aware she was far from a Mortal.
"Who are you?" Du Zexin questioned, "This area is filled with bio-sensors and surveillance probes, even a mosquito would be burnt by carbon dioxide laser – how did you get in?"
Finished, Du Zexin glanced at her shoes, his face immediately fell:
"To enter the workshop and chip area, you must wear anti-static clothing and shoe covers!"
"Easy, easy boy. (English: Calm down, mate.)"
The woman chuckled:
"I'm not a bad person. Surely, in a narrower sense, I might not even be considered human to you."
"What nonsense are you talking..."
"Teacher."
The woman suddenly said:
"I'm [Teacher] Trechet Cornwall. Don't be so excited, little ghost, we share half of the same lineage."
"…What do you mean?"
"Let me put it this way."
The woman raised her hand, painting a tree diagram out of thin air:
"Du Zexin, your mother Casey Du, originally named Casey Cornwall."
"Forty-five years ago, my sister Sam Cornwall came to this planet; because of severe injury from the Battle of Haines, her strength degenerated significantly and she was chased and persecuted by Pseudo-Humans... fortunately, she left behind a spark, your mother – Casey Cornwall."
She pointed at Du Zexin's black-and-white mixed locks:
"Your Earth lineage has been polluted by Azure Star People, otherwise, you should have brown hair like mine. Yet now, you don't even speak English, which can't be considered your native language… but at least it's one of the languages your ancestors used for communication."
"Hold on."
Du Zexin said:
"What is Earth? Are you saying you're From Starry Abyss?"
"Oh, not bad, you actually know about the concept of Starry Abyss – but unfortunately, I'm not from Starry Abyss."
[Teacher] Trechet Cornwall smiled warmly:
"I and your ancestors are both from Earth, specifics are difficult to determine due to the passage of too many years, but as far as I know, it's from a place called 'Britain'."
"Britain? Belladonna? Sounds like something quite unpalatable."
"Though it's a homeland we've never met, instinct tells me what you said seems right."
Trechet maintained a good attitude, but Du Zexin did not lower his guard.
He lowered his gun slightly, keeping it in a non-lethal position, for this extraterrestrial visitor truly gave him a sense of familiarity.
Her skin was very fair, not the kind of pallor from lacking sunlight like those from Outer World, her features clean, eyes clear, her face brimming with confidence.
"Why have you, an alien, come to find me? It can't be just for a reunion, right?"
"(Reunion) is part of the Task." Trechet said, "As for specifics... are you sure it's secure and confidential here?"
"Confirmed." Du Zexin said, "Tenants around here couldn't stand my constant metalwork production and explosions, they've moved away."
"Very good." Trechet shrugged, "In short, I've come to execute a task. Of course, it's not about invading this planet, rather to find the Earth descendants and refugees scattered across it and bring you all back... you could say it's the homeland."
"The reason?"
"Second and third-generation Earthlings mixed genetic heritage has a high probability of reverting to ancestral traits, or perhaps after dozens of generations, suddenly mutate back – but no matter what, someone like you, a third-generation hybrid, holds significant value."
Trechet said:
"We need you, Du Zexin. The hope of the entire Earth rests upon your generation."
"Why?" Du Zexin frowned, "What exactly happened to Earth – the place you call home?"
"Apocalypse." Trechet said, "Our Mother Star Earth, was invaded by [Outer Society] Speaker Gadgetzan; a massive wave of Demons attacked from all Spacetime Dimensions. Forced by circumstance, we had to shift the Mother Star and culture, to gain survival space for our Mother Star Earth..."
"I don't understand, what do you mean?"
"Simply put."
Trechet refined the core idea:
"We plan to occupy the entire Starry Abyss, to house Earth populations across various timelines and Dimensions."
"Are there many Earthlings?"
"Quite a few." Trechet nodded, "Due to the Demon's invasion, Earth lost many excellent futures and possibilities; across all timelines and dimensions, only the number as large as Graham's number is left."
"Are you kidding me?"
Du Zexin twitched his mouth:
"Graham's number was once the largest and most meaningful natural number in the world, the entire Cosmic can't even contain this number!"
"Indeed." Trechet said, "I never said Earthlings only have one Cosmic."
"...Huh?"
"Earthlings have a unique ability – Culture Priority." Trechet took out a book from her bosom, "As long as Earthlings find it, even with a little similarity to our Earth culture, once they impart the knowledge from one book, they will actively assimilate and convert."
"In other words..."
"Yes, once a civilization produces our 'English works,' this civilization will soon be completely, from its population to its future, replaced with our Earth civilization."
"In essence, as long as Earthlings continue producing cultural works: games, movies, novels, short videos, news content, opera, poetry, internet posts... new civilizations will continually emerge."
"You may understand, we Earthlings, are the only truth in the world."
Trechet flipped open the book pages, rapidly gliding through:
"And this is also the source of [Teacher]'s Strength – the only Reforging origin is Earth purebred human."
"Earth's Metaverse is unknown in whereabouts, perhaps we are also from some literary piece created by Earth civilization."
"But this Starry Abyss isn't, it possesses features similar to Earth; if Starry Abyss continues developing, our Earth's Metaverse will inevitably face threats."
"Just as well, taking advantage of the [Outer Society] invasion wind, we've also found the coordinates of Starry Abyss, Mother Gaia has decided based on this to swiftly defeat Leoz and seize control of Starry Abyss."
"Can I understand this as... your meaning is."
Du Zexin mused for a moment, then said:
"To save the virtually endless, infinite Earth, we decided to invade a nascent Cosmic that might pose a future threat to Earth?"
"Though it sounds a bit crude, the logic is quite acceptable."
Trechet nodded:
"However, this is not War."
"Five thousand years ago, we released a copy of 'Hamlet' in Starry Abyss, numerous civilizations should have read it by now, and in millions of years, they will also become Earthlings."
"Hence, this is not War. This is a protective intervention initiated for the safety of our Earth compatriots within Starry Abyss."
