Chapter 171: World Heroes Mission Arc (2)
~Danjuro T. POV~
[Flashback Months Back, Morning, Naruhata – Hopper's Cafe]
I, Danjuro Tobita, agree with Ren Yuki's proposal. After considering his offer, he presented it to me, and I caved in.
I wanted so badly to be a hero. But it just seemed to me it wasn't possible.
I've given it up. My hope and dream is to become a hero.
When I was a teenager, I wanted to be a hero whose name would go down in history and be in the textbooks, so I enrolled in an unnamed high school with a Hero course. However, my grades were terrible; I was repeating years at the high school, which was not highly regarded, and I failed the Provisional Hero License Exam four times.
One day, I was called into the office of his school, and the life counselor urged me to drop out of his endeavor as I was not cut out to be a Hero, no matter how hard he tried. In all honesty, I should've listened to his advice then, but no, I had to be stubborn and delusional to the very end.
This brought my mother to tears, but I was not easily discouraged and told my mom I would keep doing my best. As we prepared to return home, I saw my classmate Takeshita, who already had his license, and many Hero agencies were asking for him.
One day, after enjoying a cup of tea in a coffeehouse, I saw a man falling from a window cleaning rig. I attempted to be a Hero and tried to save the falling man by creating an elastic surface to jump to the rescue.
However, I ended up preventing a pro hero from saving the falling man. As a result, the victim hit the ground and needed six months to recover.
The police gave me a strike for obstructing justice, and the incident made me a target of harassment, with people vandalizing my house. My parents also landed in deep debt, paying reparations to the victim, as well as fines for hindering a hero and using his Quirk while unlicensed.
During that time, I was finally expelled from school, which caused my parents to throw me out and disown me. All this made him give up on my dream of becoming a hero. Eventually, I found accommodations to rent and lived in a freezer for four years.
At age 22, I was walking down the streets merrily and spotted my old classmate Takeshita, who had become a successful Pro Hero. I ran into him to congratulate him and told him that they were in the same class together, but he found that his classmate didn't even remember his name.
Devastated, I realized that I was going to live a miserable life to the point of being old and pitiful. Refusing to accept this fate is what led me to becoming a villain.
Six years later, I became a villain of the online world under the name of Gentle Criminal, uploading videos about my actions, though I have been mostly unsuccessful at gaining popularity during his criminal career.
However, my videos inspired Manami Aiba, a young woman who was going through a deep depression. Desiring to meet me, she used her computer skills to locate me, presenting herself as his greatest fan and eager to help him achieve my dreams.
Although, at first, I liked the idea of having a fan, I did not want Manami to participate in my villainous actions since that would also make her be persecuted by the police as a villain. Still, after spending some time together, during which Manami always helped me with her computer skills.
I began to appreciate her. When I realized her concerns about her dark eyeliner, I used a permanent marker to give me dark circles around my eyes so they could match hers. I accepted her for who she was, decided to make her my sidekick, and gave her the villain name La Brava.
Sigh… those were some fond memories. But now I sit here in the café requested by my boss with La Brava by my side.
We waited awhile before the man or rather teenager showed himself, apologizing for being late in a lighthearted tone, "Sorry for being late. UA doesn't exactly allow students much freedom, thanks to the League of Villains. Hopefully, sending my clone as my proxy isn't an issue."
Shaking my head, I held no issue as I asked curiously, taking a sip of tea, "It's no issue at all. But what do I have to do now as I agreed to work under you, sir…"
My boss grinned as he clasped his hands together, and he bluntly stated my main concerns, gaining my attention, "First, I want you as my sidekick and Miss Aiba as my assistant technological expert on computers. But to do that, we need to help you out with your educational situation first."
I flinched when he brought that up, considering I had failed because of my grades. That was an issue for me, but he explained to me the solution to solve it nonchalantly, "For your educational issues, I'll be tutoring you 24/7 thanks to my skills. But in the meantime, we'll also do some training to help you perform better to become a hero. You have skills, but they won't be enough."
Raising an eyebrow at his words, La Brava asked curiously, adding to my defense, "What do you mean? Gentle is already good enough!"
Ren merely chuckled as he casually responded, leaning his back against the chair as he retorted, "Good enough is never enough for me. Besides that, he'll need to learn a few things under me, but not here."
*Swf*
Opening a portal, I was mesmerized as he suggested for us to come. He already went in as we slowly followed him inside…

[Otheon, Shanty Town, Europe]
*Swf*
Exiting out from the portal, we were already in a different town. But I can instinctively tell we're not in Japan, judging by the people speaking a different language.
Exiting out, my boss touched his face, shifting into someone else. Confused, he explained to me in a calm tone, "We, my friends, are in Shanty Town in Otheon, residing in Europe. Here, I'll train you how to be a hero through vigilantism to show you the ropes while, in the morning, helping you study in a Hero School. Come, I've got a place for us to stay."
My eyes widened in disbelief. My gaze lingered on the people. Europe!
Are we seriously in Europe?! But it took only a few seconds…
La Brava was equally surprised as I was. But my Boss's words left me wondering what kind of person I agreed to join.
Not long after, he showed us a private home of his in Europe. I can see he paid for everything well, that I could never afford much in my dingy home apartment.
Showing us to our rooms or shared rooms, he began to train me immediately in hero education since homeschool is a thing. It annoyed me, but I bore with it. If his words held any meaning, then the chance to be a hero was there.
I wasn't going to waste this one chance I had. I will become a hero…

~Manami A. POV~
[Present, Nighttime, Otheon, Shanty Town – Ren's Base, Europe]
Placing a finger over my intercom earpiece, I heard Gentle Man's words as he responded in a confident tone, "I've managed to meet up with Mr. Alan Kay. We'll be meeting up at the base shortly, Oracle. Gentle Man, over and out."
*Beep*
I smiled as Gentle Man managed to recover Alan Kay from the Humarise cult. It's all going according to Ren-sama's plan!
I happily began to text him, and the plan went off without a hitch. We managed to secure Alan Kay with Gentle Man ensuring they make it here.
I grinned happily, hearing my Gentle had managed to become a Pro Hero thanks to Ren-sama's work. It was a bit illegal in his methods, but he made his wish come true, becoming a Pro Hero by working under him.
Not only that, I managed to get close to Ren-sama teaching me. I was nervous around him for certain, but he was not kind or helpful to me when training Gentle, and I taught him about hacking.
Despite being a kid, he's surprisingly helpful. In more ways than one, this suggested making use of my Quirk in effective ways. My Quirk [Love] allows me to bestow a power boost to the person whom I love most by telling the recipient how much I love them.
The amount of power her loved one receives increases with the intensity of my love. I can only activate my Quirk once per day, and the power boost will only last for a limited time. He mentioned I had too little control over my Quirk and suggested other types of love than romantic love. There's Philia, the love of family. Like the love you feel for your parents and siblings.
There's Storge, the love of friends and pets, people whose company you enjoy. Teammates as an example. There's Pragma, the love of material possessions and things you like to own. I could reinforce or even enchant things like cars or weapons with my quirk if I like them enough! Finally, another way to go about it is to practice Agape, the selfless love of god.
It's to love everything and everyone. He mentioned that this could be the highest level my Quirk can reach when I learn to love everything in the world and can freely empower anyone or anything with my Quirk.
At first, I denied it since my Quirk didn't work like that. But Ren denied it, believing in my abilities as he hit home for me as I hate being Manami Aiba.
Noticing my emotions and depression about myself, he noticed that I hated the person I was before I met Gentle. But he also mentioned that I had to accept that part of me and if not love, then at least forgive myself.
Letting go of the past and allowing it to let go of me. I felt emotional hearing that, but feeling his head pat helped make me feel safer.
After that, I was content working for my boss. Ah!
*Slap*
Slapping my face together, I must get myself together! The boss is entrusting me to decode the code that Alan was carrying within the suitcase in the hidden compartment.
Or when he does show up, he'll explain everything he can if possible. No doubt he'll unlikely trust us, but then again, with the Humarise member's spies infiltrating the police force he'll have to trust us.
For now, though, all I can do is mess with the Humarise information and police investigation to hide Alan Kay long enough till the boss shows up. It must be thanks to his future sight that Quirk predicted this outcome.
While waiting around, I decided to work on the other project he requested me to do while I stayed in Europe. Locate where the Scervino Family is and the latest whereabouts of the Gollini Family Mob.
Fortunately for the boss, I managed to locate their bases. I just needed to find the Scervino Family location. When he has those, he'll be even more powerful, he says.
*Beep*
Hearing the blinking lights, I turned my head, smirking. Bingo, the Scervino Family has been found. The boss will be very happy.
Maybe he'll reward me… his hands feel so good when he massages me. And his food imagining very tingly things…
Squirming my legs lightly, I thought maybe I could ask for more from Ren-sama. My time spent with him made me perverted, imagining naughty things he'd do to me, recalling his touch using his hands to massage my body.
Standing up lightly, I began to press myself against the edge of the table. Oh Ren-sama~
*THUD*
Ren-Sama…. Ren-sama…
*THUD*
Ren-samaaaaa~

A/N: Oh, that poor table-chan.
