Chapter 14: MHA : Chapter 14 : Back In The Swing Of Things II
Also. they were called 'The burning sidekickers'. Peter would sell his web formula to a business conglomerate being joining an agency that called him that.
He had self-respect, alright?
...
Before Kamiji could say something, the bus came to a complete stop and the teens went fully silent, the sound of the doors swinging open being the only sound.
"Alright, please exit in an orderly fashion!" An automated voice came over the speakers.
The inside of the vehicle erupted, people jumped over seats in a mad dash to be the first one out the door, Peter was sure he saw at least 5 people get out through the windows.
He'll never admit he was one of those people.
As he walked toward the front of the bus in which people were wildly rushing out, running toward the testing center. When he made it further ahead, he was met with two things.
A gigantic cityscape surrounded by foot walls, and Togata trying to put his pants on while having a bit of difficulty.
"Dude!" Peter adverted his gaze while who he could only assume was Kamiji cackled in the background at the sight. He didn't sign up for this, man! Scarf man didn't tell him stuff like this was gonna go down in UA!
"Sorry! I phased out of the bus and messed up a bit, it happens sometimes!" He pulled his pants up while giving a sheepish laugh.
"Is this gonna be a common occurrence, by the way?" Kamiji gave a laugh, the group now stood before a giant gate that led into the city along with other examinees.
"Please say no." The brunette groaned, finally looking at Togata.
The blonde was about to say something before a male voice thundered through the city.
"Alright! Welcome to the UA practical exam!! I hope y'all are ready for this!!" Present Moc announced through countless speakers around the testing site, it made Peter realize something.
He was at the UA entrance exam.
Which was taking place in a city, and that city looked just like New York.
Looking at the countless buildings that towered over him, he felt any sense of anxiety or nervousness fade away. Two fingers instinctively hovered over the trigger of his web-shooters, he planted his feet on the ground and aimed toward a nearby building.
People around him shuffled in preparation, he could see Kamiji taking two handfuls of fire out of her hair and adopt a determined look while Togata entered a regular printer position.
The two fingers above the trigger lowered ever so slightly, he was ready to spring forward any moment.
"Go!!" That command echoed through the cityscape, Peter's ears were only filled with one sound though.
*TWHIP!!*
One second he was standing on the ground of Japan, the next he was flying through the streets of New York, effortlessly flipping through the air with a sense of freedom and excitement only he could feel.
He was back home now.
Spider-Man was back home now.
"YEAHHH!" The teen hollered in English, he could see robots below him filling the street, but he had 15 minutes to get to that.
Taking a minute or two to get his fix of swinging was his top priority, points could wait.
"What are you guys waiting for?! Heroes don't countdowns! Get working! Now, now, now!"
Present Mic boomed. Peter was incredibly thankful for that, it would've ruined his moment if he accidentally started early, you know?
Peter reached the apex of his swing, he was now at least 2 blocks away from the entrance and all the other exam takers, now he could finally get to work.
He shot two webs down to the ground, still far above the buildings. Pulling on the strands of silk once they connected with the pavement, he came crashing down to the streets below and onto the head of a 3-P, crushing it in the process.
"Oh, what a rush!" He yelled, mostly to himself. The robots around him set their gaze on the boy, those red eyes contrasting with the military green they were colored.
"TARGET. FOUND!" They screeched in unison, leaping toward the boy and making their metal limbs groan due to the movement. Peter instinctively jumped up a good 10 feet into the air, shooting a web onto a large part of the scrap that remained of the 3-P he crushed, and swinging it around like a mace at the robots him, crushing them.
He landed in a low crouch, taking a breath of relaxation as he looked over the scrapped remains of the 'Villains', you'd think they'd more durable. Wait! Would the school let him take some scrap they throw out? He could already see some useful parts layering around, maybe he could remake the MK.5 w-
The boy's thoughts were cut off by the blaring sensation of his Spider-Sense ringing. He turned around only to see a 2-P in the middle of pouncing on him. Shooting his arm to the side, he shot his web-shooters to pull himself away from the robot only for nothing to come out.
They were jammed.
He was so gonna blame this on Midoriya.
The robot crash into him, sending him sailing through the street and crashing into an empty store through the window. Yikes, did that hurt.
"Ow." He grumbled, shakily getting up on two feet only to fall back down on the glass littered floor. He was gonna be feeling that later, huh? Gritting his teeth, he rose up to a standing position, finally regaining his balance and wincing at the sick pop that his bones and joints gave off.
Flicking his wrist, the jammed cartridge was shot out of the carousel-like system. He lifted his hoodie and shirt, grabbing an extra cartridge from the small belt he wore under his clothes and loading it in while never taking his eyes off of the robot across the street.
The 2-P stared right back, its red eye glowing brightly as it gave a low hum. Peter was so gonna destroy that thing now.
"Alright, you and me! Let's go!" He shot two webs that landed on the building behind the 2-P, he slingshot himself at the robot and smashed through it as if was paper. Suffice to say, it was incredibly anticlimactic.
'Alright, going off from the numbers painted on those tin cans, I should have about 26 points. So far this is incredibly easy, I guess I was worried over nothing.' He thought, giving a slight chuckle to himself. The sound of people approaching his street was coming closer now.
He shot a web at the building he was thrown into and took off into the air, swinging back to the main and more populated parts of the testing site.
'I wonder how Rumi's test is going?'
...
Crazed laughter and explosions had echoed through the testing site, the laughter belonged to a bronze-skinned girl that had been bouncing off of buildings and crashing onto unsuspecting robots while wearing a grin filled with battle-lust.
The white-haired girl had hopped and bounced all over the city, laughing wildly as she helped random people and kicked through the metal villains. She was now taking a breather, sitting on a sidewalk surrounded by mounts of scrapped metal and sparking wires. Her ears twitched at the hum of a group of 3-Ps coming down and approaching the street she was in.
That grin of hers was already spreading across her face once more. Getting up from her sitting position on the sidewalk with a hop, she was met with the sight of about 6 3-Ps showing up from around the corner.
"Fuck yeah! Let's go!" She yelled while rushing the incoming robots.
...
It had been about 13 minutes since the start of the test if Peter's math was correct. As of now, he was sitting on the edge of a building while kicking his feet freely in the air. He could see random people scrambling around looking for points on the streets below, it made him feel slightly bad that not everyone was gonna pass but he couldn't do anything about it.
He must have about… 63 points or something, he stopped counting after 40. It got to the point where the boy just stopped trying to get points and started to swing around to see if people needed help, only getting points if no one was near that robot.
It was a bit boring now, all that adrenaline from swinging after what must've been 11 months or something had started to come down, it was like a sugar crash. Half of his webs were used up now, so he might as well save them, you know?
Adrenaline or not, though, today had been great. That feeling of air on his face? The lack of gravity he felt and seeing how high above everything else he was? God, it was magic. While it didn't carry that sense of responsibility or righteous purpose that he had during patrol, it just felt fun.
The most fun he's had in a while.
